My late husband and I loved her from the start of that competition and knew she had no competition and would win. He passed away in 2020 and was a fan of hers until the very end. I revisit her videos old and new often. She is truly gifted and a gift from God to country music. I love inside your heaven but I believe this should have been her official single. Love her so much

I am 74. I have been a fan of hers since her first audition. Her story to success is amazing and inspiring. She is one of those individuals you come across in life who is impossible to dislike, or rather impossible not to love. Here we are 16 years later and she is still at the top of her game. There are very few people you can say that about. She is just a blessed person, and lovely /beautiful, as well.

Carrie was asked, why did she perform with a busted eardrum. She said simple, her dad said you went to do Idol and be a singer, so do it. So, she did.

I have loved carry since the day she appeared on her audition. After 18 years in the industry she has grown so much. Last night my husband took me to her denim & rhinestones tour show of 2023 in Atlanta and she was absolutely amazing!!! 🤩

Carrie knew nothing about the music business when she competed on Idol. If you ever did a crash course. This is what Idol was for Carrie, except Idol was six-months worth and it was non-stop.

What a stupidly amazing voice. Oh my GOODNESS! Her voice is ridiculous. What a great voice she has. Absolutely phenomenal delivery of the song. Carrie is out of this world!

To me, the difference between Carrie and Fantasia. After Carrie won, Idol, Carrie's career blossomed and she hasn't looked back since. Fantasia, that didn't happen. Carrie has become a megastar, where as Fantasia didn't busted out completely. Bo, was never close to Carrie in the competition. Bo was a distant second.

As great of a performance as this was, it also gives you an idea of how far she's come since then! She really just keeps getting better with age. Her music, her pitch, and her stage presence have all come so far. I'm going to see her in concert tonight and I can't wait!

I'm 28 and I remembered watching American Idol season 4 when I was 12. I've been always rooting for her since the audition in St. Louis. Her genuineness and her beautiful soul touched my heart and ever since her winning, I became a huge fan of her :) 16 years has passed but I'm keeping it as a good old memory ❤

Yes, Carrie got great songs and she turned them into great hits. Like Carrie's first single, "Jesus Take The Wheel", Carrie turned into a blockbuster hit.

I was watching this as it aired, this is not only the BEST performance EVER on American Idol, this is ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMANCES IN TV HISTORY. How anyone can give this performance a thumbs down is beyond me...It is an extraordinary performance...Just like every performance Carrie gives...more emotion in every note than you will ever hear from any other singer and it wasn't even her song...Carrie has showed us her greatness since and even has showed us how to be better human beings.....

Bo, said he was just getting a learning experience from the show. As soon as he heard Carrie sing. He knew winning that season was out of reach. He got the enjoyment of listening to Carrie every night of that season's run. Idol tried to turn into drama of who was going to win. But, there was no drama. Everybody except Carrie, knew Carrie was going to win.

And she sang this with a bursted ear drum…incredible!

Her smile just lights up a room

She could do gospel, country, pop or jazz...very versatile!

As I found out in looking at past interviews, Bo said he knew before the finals, toward the beginning of the competition, Carrie was the winner easily.

Bo said he knew way early in the competition that Carrie was going to be the winner. He said he was enjoying listening to Carrie every night. He knew it when they were competing in the Hollywood Round, when she sang "Independence Day".

And this is Carrie with a soar throat. Some people just get all the blessings.

So many indeed miss the Idol awesome Carrie, her winning voice & musical choice.

I love how she held on to that note for so long and then put her head back down, singing into the microphone without showing any slight sign of attenuation, as if belting out that word didn't make her unsteadily breathless for even a second.

Tonite I'm watching this vid again.. and I can feel what I felt the 1st time ever I watched this performance.. well, there's some pitchy there, but for me it out sung that finale night. GREAT!!!! that's what called singing by heart!

She is definitely my favourite Idol ever. Have all her four albums. Wish I could watch her perform on stage one day...

Simon was technical correctly. Carrie won it official that night. But her fans say she won it with her first audition. Idol just wanted to make money for the season.

This was (at still is) the ALL-TIME BEST performance in the history of American Idol; An off the scale rating 11 out of a perfect score of 10!!! This version should have been released as a single, it would have been a #1 hit. This is one of the BEST singing performances I've ever seen in 40+ years of entertainment!!

Who is watching in 2018 and still holding out hope for a full studio version of this song, even if it’s just a bonus track? One day, I guess...
