Angelina Jordan reaction - Gloomy Sunday + Bohemian Rhapsody

Ойын-сауық

I enjoy watching her early vs later videos so much.
I couldn't help it!
First things first - Here is Angelina's official channel:
www.youtube.com/@AngelinaJord...
Here are the videos I watched (they are not on AJ's channel):
AJ performing Gloomy Sunday:
• Angelina Jordan - Gloo...
AJ performing Bohemian Rhapsody:
• Angelina Jordan - Bohe...
Thank you all for the info about her past and upbringing.
(please try to avoid repeating all the info - I read and try to reply all comments and it makes me feel like an AI giving you all the same answer about this information. lol)
That said - I deeply appreciate each and every one of you who comments, subscribes or even just watches my discovery of Angelina and other artists on this channel. I hope you are enjoying.
Hugz,

I fear that too much too soon can hurt them and change their quality and personality to the worst, but I am so happy that her parents are supportive of her. You really should react to the other 3 song on Norways got talent of Angelina, i know you think Angelina sounded cute and kiddish, but that is Exactly how Billy Holidays Voice sounds in the original song and Angelina Nailed it at 7yrs old, the comparison is Uncanny

I'll have to disagree on that. But I respect your opinion. Just to make it clear: I don't think her performance was "kiddish". It was very impressive, especially when it comes to a 7 yo. BUT, to say that it's exactly like Billy's performance doesn't do justice to Billy Holiday. Behind Billy's voice there are years of experience, heart breaks, complexity and layers that a child (as talented as she is), is still yet to have gain. (Thank goodness). That's only my opinion.

In the Gloomy Sunday video, as little Angelina is headed out to the stage she is met by Andreas the soundman. The next Summer, TV2 got her on the outdoor stage at one of their Alsang Pa Grensen (sing along the border) shows, and there was Andreas, wiring the little girl up. Eight years later the now 16 year old (and 6' tall) Angelina was back at Alsang Pa Grensen and there was Andreas wiring her up again. I don't know her concert schedule for this summer, but I bet Andreas does

One thing we all need to remember. English is not her native language, of course, although I read that she was very familiar with English. Can you imagine singing that song on an awards show at seven in a language that is your second language? Blows your mind even more when you put it into that perspective. Then, if you go and listen to Billie Holiday sing the song here on YT it sounds really close to the way she sang it. Pronunciation and all.

The minute AJs mother wiped away the tears of joy for her daughter, she also realized that she would have to share her with the rest of world! Why she selected the song; AJs mother was shocked find AJ still awake beyond midnight and asked her mother for her Tablet (or what ever device was available) and AJ went on YT and found what she would describe as a beauty woman singing Gloom Sunday; AJ loved the melody. Sidebar if her mother truly knew the meaning of the song AJ probably would not be singing this song. Gloom Sunday was written in the 1930 during the Great Depression and was call the Hungarian Suicide Song. At the time some blamed the song for a rise in suicides. Note: AJ has not to the best of my knowledge sung Gloomy Sunday again!

Let me take this opportunity to say to you: "Welcome to the wonderful world of Angelina Jordan!" It looks like you are about to join us around the world on her musical journey. It will be an experience you could never have imagined. Roni, what I get from watching this video is you concentrate on the talent of the artist and that is fine. And, btw, I love your format and particularly the "up close" video effect. But, this needs to be said. What you hear when you are listening to Angelina sing 'for you' is the love in her voice which originates in her soul. It touches your heart because your heart recognizes her love and jumps on it. And once it's there it will never leave you. During 'Bohemian Rhapsody' you had to refrain from starting to tear up during the song. The message your heart sends to the rest of your body is goosebumps, starting to tear up (with an urge to cry) and usually finding it very difficult to speak during her performance. Roni, my point being is that Angelina is not only vocally and artistically incredibly talented but she is also a very humble, kind, caring and loving human being. The sound you hear cannot be manufactured or taught, it is real, very real and you will be missing out unless you find out 'who she is'. Roni, she's special. For example (unless you know already) why she sings barefoot is a story you need to know. I look forward to more Angelina reactions from you. I just subscribed.

Gloomy Sunday. Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷

SUGGESTION:: I had to learn this too... to REALLY understand how/why Gloomy Sunday was MORT than just cute. One MUST FIRST WATCH Billie H. Sing it , THEN watch Angelina. Or, watch her 2nd song on that NGT... I'M A FOOL GO NT YOU. PITCH PERFECT A CAPELLA.

You might have thought she was cute on her “Gloomy Sunday” audition, but once you hear her 2nd performance of “I’m a Fool to Want You”, also by Billie Holiday, which she sang a cappella to get into the semifinals, you will understand why when she won, she won with 46% of the votes in the finals out of 10 acts singing “Summertime” most notably sung by Ella Fitzgerald, and she had her first performance in front of a real audience weeks after her win on NGT and she sang Dinah Washington’s “What a Difference a Day Makes” which I consider one of her best performances, it’s incredible. What you are missing with “I Put a Spell on You” is she arranged that performance herself, and she worked with the musicians so they would accompany her the way she wanted, she got the title from those who worked with her of “The Boss” not because she was bossy, but because she knew exactly what she wanted and didn’t have any trouble communicating it to those who worked with her. Obviously she still had a child’s voice, but once you start listening to her, you don’t care!

I would argue her last, Summertime, is her best at NGT. Although many don't appreciate how good Gloomy Sunday was until they hear Billie Holiday sing it or better yet the mash up video of the two together. Same with I Put a Spell On You. It was absolutely amazing but even more so when you hear how she interpreted the original Screamin Jay Hawking version.

And a young Angelina said early on that Billie Holiday was her biggest inspiration/influence. Sheesh, you don't expect a girl to say something like that! Also, because you're not going to check out the rest of her performances on Norway's Got Talent, you are not going to see The Jump/Change with her. After singing Gloomy Sunday and then I'm A Fool To Want You, both by Billie Holiday, her next 2 performances showed a huge leap in her singing ability. She sang the songs Bang Bang and Summertime which were fantastic. The voice you heard in Gloomy Sunday? That is long gone by the time she sang Summertime in the Finals.

Hello Roni, thank you for your reaction to Angelina. I just wanted to comment on you saying that on gloomy Sunday you just saw she was mostly cute and adorable. Some of us are visually acute and that becomes a large portion of 0:06 our perception of what we are witnessing. In the case with Angelina on this particular song, it's hard to get past her cuteness, but there was something more going on there. First of all her pitch was perfect, second of all her capture of Billie Holiday style was uncanny, and her concentration and emotional awareness of what she was singing was literally on an adult level. And a lot of times with Angelina you have to close your eyes and just listen to her sing so that you can get past how young she is. If you haven't done so yet, you should listen to all of her performances on Norway's got talent. She will get you passed how cute she is at seven and eight years old, and totally impress you on her vocal ability at that age. The song that finally won her to contest was Summertime, and I would strongly advise you to at least watch that one from when she was 8 years old, though she was still cute in that performance. Loved your reaction, thank you

' I D O N ' T L I S T E N t o A N G E L I N A f o r w h a t S H E S I N G S ; I L I S T E N t o A N G E L I N A f o r W H O S H E I S . ' how many ' Artists ' does that Apply to today ?

Not a lot, but a few. Cool saying, though. I like it. And yes, from what I learned, she is a kind soul, a hard worker, and very respectful. So I like that her fans see that and hopefully learn from it. 🎶🙏

Her Gloomy Sunday was probably great, but it doesn't dazzle me either. On the other hand, her Summertime in the finals at NGT is among her best, and is mind bogglingly good. I don't mind that you weren't that impressed with the first song. Your reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody was worth my admission price and made up for it.

Thanks for taking the time to share 2 more Angelina reactions with us. What was amazing to me about Angelina's Gloomy Sunday performance at age 7 was her stage presence. After being a little nervous during her short interview - once she started singing, she sounded just like a seasoned pro. Following that performance with Angelina's reinterpretation of the Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody at age 13 really showcased her incredible growth as a singer & performer. And - as you noted - at age 13 Angelina's emotional impact is unbelievable. I strongly believe that Angelina has the innate GOD given gift to be able to emote the essence of each song she sings direct to our hearts & souls allowing us to also deeply FEEL her music as it flows through her. Btw - even though it wasn't shown in the Bohemian Rhapsody video, Angelina did receive the golden buzzer from Heidi Klum. They became good friends & still are today. In fact Heidi recently selected Angelina (now 17) to perform at GNTM (Germany's Next Top Model) & Angelina delivered an incredible performance of the Amy Winehouse classic "Valerie". Looking forward to more of your Angelina reactions. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

And Queen liked it so much the remaining members tweeted out and gave her the rights to copyright her version of the song for royalties. It's available on all the streaming services. As stated the other 3 NGT performances are worth reacting to. Most of what she has covered at the ages of 10-13 are in no way 'child like', if you listened without seeing her you'd swear she's at least 20-40 years old.

Hi and thank you for this fine reaction. You have just seen art in its beginning. Angelina was born to sing and write music. She is able to revive the "old" music. Angelina showed with her new Ep that she found "her" voice and "her" music. However, the music is modern in a way. I can not describe it. They're new, modern songs, but they sound instantly familiar, like we've always heard them. You will understand that after watching this video. - Love don’t let me go 17 years old - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4lqubuYqpu8pZs.html - Angelina drives in an old Porsche with her grandmother And the journey has only just begun. --------------------------- I would like to recommend you another Norwegian singer who is also very exceptional - but in a different way. A second Norwegian treasure. AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is now 27 years old. She is a singer, songwriter and producer with a style all her own. AURORA's songs always have a strong message. Often the messages are not very clear either. They can be interpreted so that many people can relate them to themselves. Her movements when singing are extraordinary. This isn't a dance. This is her special way of expression. You can also say that she sings with her whole body. Her excellent music, her brilliant voice and her movements. AURORA's live performances are a total work of art. She is often so into the song that she shakes her body or head uncontrollably (--> Murder song, It happened quiet) and need 2-3 seconds to come back. She is capable of transporting feelings because she allows a look into her soul. Her fans call themselves warriors and weirdos. AURORA is not entirely unknown. Her channel has over 5 million subscribers and more than 130 videos on this channel have over 1.4 billion views. Do you know the Disney movie Frozen 2? AURORA is the siren call in the song "Into the Unknown". AURORA once said: People tend to believe quite quickly that something is wrong with them if they're not like the people they see in front of them It's so sad that it doesn't take much for us to really doubt ourselves She became famous with the song Runaway. AURORA wrote the song when she was 11 years old. It was recorded in 2014 when she was about 18 years old. The video was shot very close to her parents' house. Some scenes are even said to have come from the garden of her parents' house. - Runaway - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpN8zrKbn6-4fJs.html - Through The Eyes Of a Child (Live at Nidarosdomen) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJd7m9yNqtbPo6g.html - she sang in norway's biggest cathedral - phenomenal acoustics - Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert - kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJxktbmNhtq-qNo.html - the saddest love song I've ever heard - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4lhsJiFod3KebA.html - it's about the rape of a woman - some say - these great harmonies - Lucky (Live at Nidarosdomen) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6GIy9OLYsK8cdo.html - the song is her way of suicide prevention - The Seed (Official Video - VEVO) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYGXwbGGZdK0cZs.html - it's about the climat change, AURORAS “Earth Song” I usually prefer her live performances. But in some cases the VEVO video is more impressive. I hope you enjoy AURORA. There are also some cover songs by AURORA, but then she interpret them in her own way. Probably the most famous recording is a David Bowie cover. - Life on Mars - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nX5km5eMYLDTnqQ.html Three important bits of information I found from another commenter: 1. -- In a recent interview she said "well, the last song I wrote is meant for my 7th album.” - AURORA's latest album, the fourth, was released on January 21, 2022. She's already in the planning for the 7th. 2. -- AURORA was a teen when she answered the question "are some of your songs related (on different albums)?" - it will all make sense when I have finished. - AURORA has a plan and we don't know the destination yet. But it is important to know that everything belongs together. 3. AURORA is holding back one song from every decade of her life to release those songs as the last album after her death. Which artist does that? Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

A great video to introduce Angelina’s family, When you react to Bohemian Rhapsody take notice during her performance they highlight audience members in the front row. That is Angelina's Family. From left to right Her uncle and manager Michael Astar, her little sister Juliette, her mother Sarah Astar and her grandmother Mery Zamani. Notice her little sister crossing her fingers as the performance starts and later her mother wipe tears from her eyes. Also remember she said she had waited 10 years to sing for Simon. When she was 3 years old she was begging her mother to go on 'that Simon show'. ♥👣👸🏻🎷
