    It's delightful to watch her now, seeing her so full of energy that she can't sit still, definitely not boredom. But the way she fidgets, stretches her arms, folds her hands, plays with her clothes and that mute, she just can't wait to sing. It's wonderful to see this side of her to remind us that she isn't some cold-hearted diva in a tiny body but, here at least, simply an incredibly gifted little girl. My compliments to her parents for doing an extraordinary job of balancing her artistic development and her childhood.

I DON'T KNOW HOW I MANAGED TO MISS THIS VIDEO FOR SO MANY YEARS, BUT THIS SONG IS IN HER TOP 3, MAYBE EVEN HER TOP ONE !!! A little mind blowing to see an eight year old giving arrangement recommendations for how to play the trumpet part :) So her musical understanding and knowledge extends further than how to just sing a song in an amazing way. Respect. I couldn't completely follow their discussion, but it looks like Angelina solved the knot by suggesting going up a fourth to a B.

When i heard her songs, my mind, my imagination turns back the time to the era that songs release, I ask myself, how is life would be that time? ...my grandparents said, during that times, peaceful and not so much worries to think about, unlike now,..but we should thanks God because there's a music like this, when we listen, we forget for awhile our problems esp. now we don't know til when we're locked down to our house?.. I like her voice and forte of music!..Can't imagine at her age, she have a different taste of music, astounding in a sense that she sings it like she was in that generation, you can feel it when you heard her, sometimes i thought is this child reincarnated? An important detail in this performance is that Angelina had a cold that day, and was hoarse. (Notice how many times she rubs her nose)... This has happened to her several times and she has never canceled concerts because of it. She's a pro... There are some notorious cases of her performances in these conditions, which, although they resulted in some "cracks" in her powerful and apotheotic high notes, she still managed well, taking advantage of the natural raspiness that her clinical condition gave her. A beautiful performance she did like this was "At Last"... (10yo) it's simply spectacular. BTW - Angelina imitating the trumpet is so amazing and funny.

    It's really great to watch her work. It seems like at 0:45 she is trying to tell him he is missing the last (lower) note. She adds that note when he finishes, and then reproduces the run herself with that bottom note she wants added. ...but then he seems to just go off on his own little tangent for some reason. Just listen to the expert, trumpet man, just listen to the expert... she knows what she wants. ;) It would be great to get some translation on some of these exchanges. I am always very curious what they are saying.

    Rusty Shackleford 2 , to be honest, I feel like the musicians don’t listen to her at all. They talk amongs themselves of how to play the song, but don’t listen to what she have to say. At the end they asking whether to play the long or short vertion of the song, Angelina answers the long. They speak over her head, so to say. I guess they don’t know who Angelina is 😉

    A small correction: Trumpetist: "Then we go down to..." (hesitantly) AJ exclaims: "Aiss!" Trumpetist: "... E minor." She is well into the professional terminology at a very young age! Some evidence reveals she may have an ear for the perfect pitch (in Norwegian: absolutt gehør). Wich cannot be taught, - it´s innate. Could be wrong, but I cannot find any false tone in any of the video material available. I have listened through all of it. Incredibly impressive!

  • @DonaldLancon

    @DonaldLancon

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@onkel9156 Since they were already playing in a certain key, I think it's still possible that she was using what's known as "relative pitch" here (since she had a reference tone/key to use as the basis for dropping down to the desired tone/key), as opposed to "absolute pitch". As you say, absolute pitch generally cannot be taught, but reportedly it can be "induced" very early in life if someone listens to a lot of complex music as a baby and receives intense pitch-identification training as they grow up (search for "perfect pitch" at Rick Beato's channel). Although Angelina did hear a lot of music at a very young age and started singing at 1½, I don't believe that would have been enough to "give her" absolute pitch if she didn't already possess it. My belief that she did not, in fact, possess absolute pitch as a young child is based mainly on the handful of videos of her singing at around 6 and 7 where she's a bit "pitchy" (occasionally off-key, especially in the louder parts). See videos 5-8 in this playlist, for example: kzread.info/head/PLySL7rbiavQdojPuSU1yZDRvj752g9J1b and also this video from a very early appearance on stage: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gIt31pZwoKbKYpM.html Now, whether what we hear in these videos is merely a lack of _vocal control_ rather than a lack of ability to identify pitch _per se_ is debatable. But I think it demonstrates that her pitch abilities were still developing at that point in her life, and so is evidence that she has "only" relative pitch, not absolute pitch. Perhaps more importantly, though, when she sings a cappella it's not in the same key as the original. Her performane of "I'm a Fool to Want You" on _Norske Talenter_ was sung at least a semitone (if not a full tone) higher than Billie Holiday's original recording, and even when Angelina sang a little "Diamonds Are Forever" in this interview kzread.info/dash/bejne/a2uczLmgZLfVgrQ.html when she was 12, she sang it much lower than she was singing it live just the previous year. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qoaaqMWndJaxg9I.html If she had absolute pitch, presumably there would not be these pitch differences. Of course, the whole issue could be resolved simply by someone asking her about it in an interview! [grin] (BTW, I agree that pretty much everything I've heard her do from _Norske Talenter_ onwards has been rock-solid in terms of pitch. It's quite amazing, really.)

    @@DonaldLancon Thanks for the explanation. I always thought that Angelina Jordan has the absolute pitch. @@KRISTOFOROS333 Andrea = She , trembacz = Trumpet (chet baker, she has been likened to) . Andrea's singing is simple and elegant, at times vulnerable, and when it comes to a love song she is the most believable of all. ATB to you.

    @@robertsolar8814 Yeah. In other performances of this she pronounces the "o" a little closer to a "u" than here, but she never sings it with any "r" sound (AFAIK). Perhaps ZEUS O. is thinking in terms of the "British pronunciation" [RP] of the word "curtain" instead of the more relevant American one?

    Seeing as Sara her mother was a teacher of Japanese in Oslo, and Sara's father was Japanese, you might expect Angelina has at least some basic knowledge of the language. She certainly sang one song in Japanese at a concert in Tokyo. However, when she went for a radio interview in Tokyo, neither she, nor Sara, nor Sara's brother Michael, who both spent some years living in Japan, spoke any Japanese at all to the staff or presenters. Then, to my knowledge there are no recordings on YT of any of them speaking Farsi, not even grandma Mery, who is native Iranian, yet 6 year old Angelina was able to speak at length with the shoeless girl in a (presumably) Iranian street market, although her diary entries of that meeting seemed to be written in Norwegian as she read an extract on TV. As for other languages Angelina has been credited with speaking, it can be reasonably assumed she can speak some Swedish as her father and his extended family are Swedish ... beyond that, apart from a few words in French, German and Korean, there's no evidence she is fluent in more than 3 languages: English, Norwegian and (possibly) Swedish, just like there's no evidence of her ability to play flute, violin or anything other than basic piano and guitar, but some Angels still insist she is multi-lingual and a multi-instrumentalist. The most controversial claim of all is that she creates her own arrangements as well as the scores for her self-penned lyrics. I haven't seen every AJ video although I believe I have viewed most of the ones on YT ... and I've never seen her writing musical notation or even reading a score when she's playing piano, so if she composes or arranges it's either in her head and she has to verbalise it, as in this video, or she writes down her own shorthand notes to discuss with the musicians but again, we haven't seen any examples of that captured on camera.
