Look back at a classic #heavyweight #knockout when #andyruiz shut the lights off on Elijah McCall from 2013.
Next up for Top Rank Boxing, Two heated rivalries will come to a head Saturday, Sept. 10 in a historic championship doubleheader at the O2 Arena in London.
The previously announced main event will see two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields, the WBC/WBA/IBF/Ring Magazine middleweight champion, aim to once again become undisputed at 160 pounds by facing longtime rival and WBO titleholder Savannah Marshall.
Shields and Marshall faced off as amateurs, with Marshall edging Shields by decision at the 2012 AIBA Women’s World Championships in Qinhuangdao, China. Shields went 77-1 as an amateur and is the only female boxer to win undisputed titles in two weight classes.
In the co-feature, Mikaela Mayer will look to get one step closer to becoming the first undisputed champ in her division by putting her WBO/IBF/Ring Magazine junior lightweight titles on the line against WBC champion Alycia Baumgardner.
A total of seven world titles and two Ring Magazine belts will be on the line.
Promoted by Salita Promotions and Boxxer, in association with Top Rank, Shields-Marshall, Mayer-Baumgardner, and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+

@@nickconway4777 I saw one fighter say to his corner "watch, Ruiz is going to start rabbit punching." A lot of fighters do rabbit punches if they are being excessively clinched/illegally held because they think it is tit for tat. . Maybe Ruiz benefits most from that due to the wallop he can get behind those shots. Probably more force than most can.

True, a ref can save the life of a fighter or else cause him to lose it via negligence. The fight between Duran and Davy Moore is an example of a negligent ref and an uncaring corner.

Big John McDermott is another. Built similar to Ruiz, and a very fast, skilled and durable fighter. Got robbed of a decision against Tyson Fury early on in Fury’s career. He works on the railways now.

Yeah, he's tough, and he has lost a lot of weight, but I seriously doubt he'll ever win another world title. His one world title win was a fluke because AJ had an off night and didn't have his head in the fight.

Ruiz is very impressive and exciting to watch. His shots are fast and accurate, and he has a unique style. His combinations are incredible. If he had put in more training for the second Joshua fight, he would have won. I'd like to see a third, but doubt if Joshua and his team would. I'd also like to see him fight Usyk, Wilder, or Fury. I give him a better chance of beating Fury than anyone else.

Good ref call. You can see at 10:11 the ref pushes them away but E is off balance and ref looks at him like " aye you good? " and when Andy took off on E then it answered the refs question

Andy's win over AJ was a fluke. AJ's head wasn't in the fight for whatever reason. You could tell he didn't want to be there. The second fight, AJ was actually fighting for something (getting his titles back), so he was focused and just plain out-boxed Ruiz. Hell, Ruiz wasn't even the top contender and shouldn't have even gotten that first title fight, he was the backup for the backup (I think he was the 3rd choice.) AJ underestimated him and didn't prepare for the fight.

La pegada es la buena no el músculo.

Ref Bayless made the expert call here, he could clearly see McCall was out of it with his glassy eyes and stiff legs which are real danger signs of a fighter getting seriously hurt.

If only Elijah McCall had his father Oliver's inhuman granite chin - then he would have been something in today's heavyweight division. His father "The Atomic Bull" went 78 PRO fights and NEVER went down to the canvas or was seriously hurt in the ring. That is incredible to say the least.

Ruiz is a tough guy. Very fast hands, only thing is when he gets in there with a much taller guy he has problems, but he’s a dangerous fighter.
Ruiz is maybe the most underrated heavyweight right now. Maybe he can get hit titles back.

He's avoided because he's dangerous toe to toe but Joshua showed how to beat him ( second time after getting smashed to bits in the first fight) .keep him at arm's length and fight on the outside cos if he gets inside then your more than likely getting KO'd. Deffo shud get one more shot at least.
