He kills the baby at the end of the song, which is why he’s singing “forgive me”. The whole song is basically him psyching himself up to do it because he doesn’t want to do it, but he doesn’t really have a choice. He drops the baby off the city walls.

The animations aren't going to get you copyright struck. They're fanmade and several of the creators comment on and encourage reactions. You're more likely to get struck for the songs. But you won't because Jorge is fine with these kinds of things. It's not that this is a callback to Monster, it's that the central narrative of the first act of EPIC is how Odysseus' philosophy evolves as the story progresses. This is the set-up and Monster is the conclusion. You didn't say much about the story, so just to clarify, if you couldn't tell by the "forgive me", yes, Odysseus kills the baby at the end of this song.

I know you asked if it was a harp in the beginning but this song is when oddyseus is more vulnerable, so its an acoustic guitar at the start instead of an electric one. Every character has their own dedicated instrument, but his is the guitar and its so cool

Im so psyched for you to review more of epic!! If you get it situated, it would be awesome if youd record your reaction to the animatics even if youve already heard the song.

Alexander Hamilton i would say is another musical that has the same vibe as Jorge’s EPIC. If you have not listened to an Alexander Hamilton song yet, that would be a good next step for this styled take on music. Otherwise can’t wait to see more reactions for the EPIC. i'm gonna say it, I dont think your commentary of "musicals" as having a set sound that Jorge breaks away from is very good. musicals have some tropes for sure, but it is more of a medium than it is a genre. Its like saying anime is cool because family guy is the default. Or Dora the explorer. Jorge is amazing for sure, but the way you phrase your praise bugs me for some reason.

I speaking from my experiences and what I have heard from the space. The genre of songs within the medium has evolved of course since I last listened but there are in fact troupes....I think you are taking it as me pooping on the space instead take as me trying to get others who don't vibe with the medium/style of songs to see how great this is by comparing it to genres of music that these individuals vibe with.

I get where he's coming from. I feel like its more similar to saying "all anime is just action/Shonen" because of popular titles like Naruto and people who dont usually watch anime themselves would make that assumption because its what they have heard about. Same thing here where there is a stereotypical sound associated with musicals that unless you watch musicals yourself you wouldnt know that there are a lot of different styles used in musicals. Coming from a person who hasnt listened to many musicals it makes sense and I think he was just trying to connect other people who dont listen to musicals to it. I get where youre coming from though, just thought Id share my perspective.
