Taylor has a great classical education. She knows about all the ancient stories. This song references the ancient story of Cassandra, who was a Trojan priestess who predicted misfortune. And they killed her for it (googles well). She even references this in High School when she says You know Ball, I now Aristotle. Literally, this is Taylor saying this record label and these management people and you my parents are causing damage. And this is not the first time she references quiet as a diss/ignore of the facts on the album.

No, not about Kanye - could be, but it's not really relevant except she was trying so hard to be a good girl when Kanye did his thing. And management wouldn't let her respond, plus she was a kid and didn't know how. Hannahs and Sarahs are church lady fans management wanted her to keep. And then she grew up. Taylor was subject to extreme slut shaming for normal dating in her 20s by that variety of fan, plus her own dad and management team, and record label. Alliteration, yes! She uses words that either make you think or blow right over your head. This song gives me revenge joy - which is Taylor got what I did not, and she acted like a grown up the whole time.

We need to remember Taylor wasn't allowed to swear at all under her old label and management, so even during the really bad times she couldn't respond. Thank you for the blast on North coming home singing this song. (Apparently North did come home singing a Taylor song (not this one) and wearing Tay merch. Just me passing gossip.) Our girl here has been in the industry since she was a kid and she's taken a lot of bullying. And then to buy her music masters? That's why we only buy and listen to Taylor's Version of her older music. Then was a normal young woman who was dating through her 20s like we all do, and then was slut shamed for being normal, and even nice. The Kim song is ThanK you aIMee. Her putting narcotics in all her songs is one of the Taylor conspiracy theories put out there by the nutjobs who no longer approve of her behavior, or her songs since she stopped being a good little girl and started being a grown ass woman. Her fans relate to her pain, we can make her songs about ourselves - She even said so in an interview and in the song The Manuscript.

Fun fact: Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and Amy Lee of Evanescence have been friends for about 20 years at this point. Their bands were landmark pieces in the rise of female-led rock in the early 2000s. Lzzy is also one of the most wide-ranging collab artists in the world. She was the backing vocalist on MGK's "Spotlight", sung on tracks by Lindsey Stirling and Sophie Lloyd, backed up Eric Church at the CMAs, collabed with The Hu on "Song of Women", and recently worked with Corey Marks. My goal is to break down the song <lyrics, vocals, mix, etc.> and talk about lyrics from my pov (a person who is unfamiliar with the lore and simply listening to an artist who is an amazing lyricist) imo the beauty of art is its various interpretations.
