Ancient Bluebell Woodland Composition & Connection

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Photographing an Ancient Bluebell Woodland - Master your composition and learn to connect with yourself and your surrounding.
Welcome to my first vlog in a while! It's great to be back, needed a long rest and the reason is revealed in this video! Some exciting new beginnings which may mean I have more time to devote to KZread. At least for the short term any way. This vlog is something a little different but 100% more my style and way of thinking which I want to share with you to help your photography, or even just help you switch off and relax. I understand more than anyone that sometime you might not be able to get to places or have the ability to explore so let me take you on a journey to nature through my eyes.
Sit back, relax and enjoy this immersive video with the bluebells.

Hi Suzannah, welcome back to YT and many congratulations on your pregnancy; hope all goes smoothly with few sleepless nights. I'm glad you find bluebells relaxing; they drive me crazy!. Well that is when I am trying to photograph them - to one's eye, they are fantastic and we have some excellent bluebell woodland near me but, by heck are they hard to photograph; they are not photogenic - one really has to work hard to make good images. For example, your good tip: to use a polariser, was impossible this season for me because of the wind blowing the bells hither and thither - need good light for a fast shot. So well done with your sterling efforts on this most beautiful but most frustrating of subjects.

Thanks Seb, yes me too 😅 They are a challenge to shoot, I find getting the right light along with the wind ect very difficult when using a polariser. I think I may have been lucky on the this day 🙏 Appreciate the support

Welcome back Suzannah, and congratulations! The last composition you were working on was my favorite, I've always enjoyed the bluebell images of the English countryside. Hopefully someday I'll make it over to your corner of the world, the UK is high on my list to photograph and I really enjoy seeing the quieter woodland areas. Thanks for the video and take care!

Cheers Chris, I wish I had recorded some vlog for the final set of images but sometimes the light can happen when you don't have all your gear. Yeah it's a fab place to shoot in the UK. You can find Bluebells in some other parts of Europe too, the Spanish Bluebells are really stunning. Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed the video 👍

Have you tried the Viewfinder phone app to let you preview shots using different focal lengths rather than just the wide angle? I’m not sure if it works for all phone types but it might be of use.

I don't walk far and try to hide it where I can, on this occasion I didn't and a walker picked it up and looked at it. I spotted him and called over, it was innocent as I think he thought someone had left it behind

Why do test shots on your phone pointless you have a screen in the back of your camera 📸. As a landscape photographer your eyes should see the world like this. You should be able to compose your image from the back of the camera. To be honest not the greatest of bluebell images I seen . You could of done so much more. I would not say your images pop
