Making Time for Landscape Photography

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Finding Time for your Landscape Photography.
Welcome to this weeks video where I explore a forest in Wales which I stumbled across whilst heading to my Christmas do. Committing to a KZread channel needs a lot of time and focus, even when you have life admin! I have found the best way to improve your photography is to make more time for yourself and look for opportunities where you can fit it in. I am also excited to introduce some music in this video written by myself which came to me whilst I was walking along the path by the river. Let me know what you think and if you like this unique style of video creation? I hope you all are having a lovely Christmas holiday. Happy new new year and I look forward to creating more content in 2022.

Found your video as a suggested video, i found myself agreeing with you, its difficult to keep a channel going while working full time and having other responsibilities and i for one cant get to commit to a regular upload routine . Some nice images in the woodland which is a very difficult genre in itself. ? Loved the drone footage and b roll. The last image at 22:01 with the footpath going under the over hanging branch was very nice, liked that. Enjoyed the vlog , take care

I always love the choice of music you use in your videos, Suzannah. Very soothing. Some of it reminds me of Enya's music. I like being out in nature as well. I really like mountains, being up high and looking out onto a vista below. But, forest and streams are just as good for the soul. I'd like to own a property, one day, with some streams and forest on it. Hopefully, with a view of some mountains. Wouldn't have to be all that big (50 or so acres), but enough of a size that I could enjoy the isolation when I wanted to. That would be my idea of heaven on earth :)

Lovely restful video Suzannah. What a fabulous wood you have found. Plenty of inspiration there. You should have mentioned your lost bolt for the L bracket on here before. I could have made one up for you. If you lose it again or need a spare do let me know. Once again I really liked the ICM picture. Your technique works so well. The distortion is not so great that the subject is lost but it gives an impressionist feel to the image.

My L bracket has changed my landscape tripod photography. Only hassle is when I use the capture clip which has a different fitting. Worth it though. Keep it up Suzannah. Hi Suzannah, nice to see another video from you; they're always very calming. I totally agree with you on the healing effect of enjoying nature, slowing down and capturing some nice images 'along the way'. Woodlands are my favourite for that. By the way 2:58 seems like a nice photo opportunity if your drone can take good shots). Keep up the good work...!

Really like the last image! Here is a tip on "L" brackets. They are just a chunk of metal. There is no reason in the world to spend a lot of money on one. You can pick them up on E-Bay for around $10 US. I have one of them on a NIkon D850 and they work just fine.

Thanks for calming video. I agree that walk in nature is the best experience in photography even if I don't find any images... Looking for compositions slows you down and you notice much more than on regular walk. I've noticed that you like to expand center column of the tripod and that destabilizes it a bit... it is always better to extend legs if possible. Best wishes and good light in new year!

Congratulations on 2k subscribers!! Watching you take pictures in slow motion is like a breath of fresh air. I don’t normally like ICM pictures but I really like the blend of colors in your first image ICM version. I really like using an L bracket because it keeps the camera centered on your tripod it makes it easy to take a portrait photo and it also protects the microphone because I have a very small L-shaped microphone. That last image was a tree that made me think of Harry Potter for some reason! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Years!

Hi Suzannah, so beautiful to see another video from you! The tree at the end of the video could be a yew tree as far as I can see from the footage. Its wood was often used in former times to create weapons, because it is very hard and at the same time flexible. They can get very old, especially on the British isles there are some trees that are 2000 years old. (Here in Germany it is mostly found as garden plant, not in the wilderness.) But be cautious: Nearly all parts of it are highly toxic! Also the nice red berries! (not the flesh, but the seeds inside) I've heard of horses died because some stupid people gave them branches of this tree to eat....

In the UK you often find them in churchyards and cemeteries because they are poisonous and it was forbidden to alow animals to graze in. But it was also forbidden to cut them down as they were all considered property of the crown because it was the primary material for the English longbow.

Never used L brackets, I use a pistol grip, moves in all directions. Did Father Christmas bring you any photography gear. Thanks for sharing your journey. Been working on my studio, for abstract and portrait photo shoot. Take care out there, see you next time. Seasons wishes.

The arial footage around the 17 min mark is really good. Also at 17:35, I would find a way (need boots, also could be slippery) to get down in the stream/creek or at least on the edge of it for a narrow, maybe 3 shot focus stack of it. Also, for the path photo (2nd), you should experiment with longer focal lengths. Say maybe a 100mm or a 70-200 if you can afford one & try 90mm & up. You don't need a f2.8 lens but usually they sport better glass in them.

Susannah. Making time for photography means using a 4 X 5" view camera and cut film and have super results that cannot be gained with digital and an impossible menu written for a pilot flying a Starfighter. Get real and don't follow every fashion because all you do is pressing a little button. That takes you much time and effort and courage?
