Only now do I realise that I was quoting it wrong. Only now do I realise that Victoria Wood was THAT talented that the line stuck in my head everafter, albeit slightly askew. Thank you Victoria Wood, thank you British television in the '80s.

I love when Victoria gets huge laughs without even saying a word. The whole darts thing (and her impression of the inflatable woman losing her air) was an absolute riot. To say nothing of her crown jewel, The Ballad Of Barry & Freda. I miss that woman so much.

Saw Victoria live in '93 in Edinburgh: she was dynamite the whole show! Incredible performance from an incredible woman: we all laughed from start to finish. Feel privileged to have been in the presence of such a comedic legend who wore her status as comfortably as a yellow rain mac and a beret. Sorely missed. Her videos are the litmus test to the joy of regular life for regular folk.

Emotional to remember how wonderful our entertainers used to be ; how much they understood and loved our national culture. I hated the 1980s living through them, (I was in my 20s) as I felt much more comfortable in the late 60s/ 1970s, but we still had so many entertainers drawing from earlier days and part of a wonderful tradition. What has happened to us?
