Always remember seeing Billy live, 39weeks pregnant literally crying with laughter and I needed to go to the loo. Got up from my seat about 5rows from the front and quick as flash he shouted “ Quick!!get that lady a bucket, her waters have broken out her eyes!!” I honestly thought I was going to have the baby there and then. Within 36 hours my son was born, I put it down to all the giggling!!

What a story! I believe you completely, that sounds just like Billy. I have never had the privilege to see the man live and I think I will always regret it. He's not gigging anymore and I don't blame him at all. By all accounts he isn't doing too hot. But we all know he will live forever and that's OK.

No one, absolutely no one, has ever made me laugh more than this magnificent comedian. He’s a gift from god. This tv special is now over 35 years old and has really stood the test of time. Can’t think of any of the current crop of comedians who come anywhere near him. A true funny man.

By asking me to name one South African comedian who is famous outside his bedsit you are saying that I find all Scottish comedians to be not funny. This is not what I said. I said he was overrated and that I don't find him funny. I suppose there could be some funny Scottish comedians. But not Connelly. Oh and yes Trevor Noah is a South African comedian and host of the Daily show in the US. So famous out of his bedsit...!And he is hilarious..!

Michael Parkinson can read between the lines, which would account for his wry smile when listening to Billy.. So much of what Billy is saying about his upbringing strikes a chord with so many of his generation (me included being born during the 2nd World war) about the things that were endured as being part of life in those times. His mention of "coats on the bed" to act as blankets for example. My memory is that it was often an army overcoat belonging to an uncle or a granddad from their time served. I hope that todays generatiion don't have to go through that but at the very least should be mindful of it when they feel slightly "impoverished". Bless you Billy, you're a bloody legend.

All he says from the start of his career to date everyone can relate to, everyone has met or is the person he is talking about. He does not need to invent stories but just sees the comedy in everyday life. he bring laughter to everyone.

Billy made his name in Blighty on the Parkinson show, (I have Parkinson's disease now, I wish to fuck he kept it to himself) but this was the first nationwide airing of his stand up and he fucking nailed it. Usually on "An Audience With" the performers talk to the audience but Billy had no truck with that, he was in the zone and making very famous people almost piss their pants.....

I remember when I was living in Glasgow in the mid 90s, that's how we went to many great parties: Either met someone in a pub who was on his way to a party and then went with him, or walking along the streets, trying to hear music, to spot a party..- asking for "Jimmy" then 😁 Sometimes the only way to have a great time after the pubs closed and you didn't want to go to a club....- well, or after even the clubs were closed.. As long as you brought some spare carry-oot, it was okay 😉 It even worked the other way round: When I was invited, it was always okay to bring somebody.. Every one was happy to meet new people and usually the host didn't notice anything anymore anyway, since it was a saying that the best parties were those you didn't remember... 🥳 Had some of the best parties as a "crasher"!

This Guy is an absolute legend. One of, if not the funniest man ever. He was the best & funniest story teller ever. He did have a rough childhood but he got through it in his own way by talking about it on stage in his own brilliant way (obviously he also told us about it in his book)!! A genuine Man who made it from rags to riches by making people laugh & he was brilliant at everything he did including his world tours etc. God bless you Billy, a REAL comedy genius and a terrific man, father & husband.

Such a wonderful person, both as a comedian and as a human being. He's one of the very few 'celebrities' who'll I'll be genuinely upset when he passes on. Generally I don't find stand up comedians funny in any way at all with the exception of Billy Connolly, and I absolutely love the way the he seems to be enjoying telling the stories as much as the audience enjoys hearing them. Always a real pleasure hearing him.

As a fellow Weegie the funniest thing is that some of this is real: there's always one drunk at a Scottish wedding who insists on singing and they always sing just like that :>> I wonder if the audience (apart from Robbie Coltrane) actually understood what a "room and kitchen" is because that's what makes the joke about the coats so funny. This fair cheered me up.
