An Addict's Redemption Story the World NEEDS to Hear | Jeff Allen | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 198

Over the course of his nearly five-decade career, Jeff Allen has become a master at clean comedy - no crudeness, no swearing, no political incorrectness … just jokes. And amid the recent terror attack in Israel, crashing economies around the world, and a tension between Republicans and Democrats in America that grows daily, every single person could benefit from listening to Jeff Allen's unique humor. But Allen’s life wasn’t always about good timing and funny stories. He sits down with Glenn in this episode of “The Glenn Beck Podcast” to tell his full story. His book, “Are We There Yet: My Journey from a Messed-Up to Meaningful Life,” details everything from addiction and his rock bottom to the moment that changed everything and turned him fully toward Christ. He tells Glenn about his nonchalant marriage proposal at an airport baggage claim in Cleveland, Ohio, a hilarious incident on a ski lift, and how performing with Dry Bar Comedy helped “change [his] life.” But ultimately, this conversation provides what most of us need after being bombarded with devastating news around the world day after day: a good cry and a good laugh.

I drove my life into a ditch (via alcohol and shame) five years ago. Several rehabs later, I FINALLY got serious treatment (EMDR) and started working the AA program with diligence. I've got 3 years sober now and am reaping blessings which I, quite honestly, could never have felt I deserved. Stay Strong, Jeff.

White Ceremonial Magic is akin to the surgeon's scalpel, whereas prayer is like performing an operation with a dull, crude instrument. You see, you need to be using specific symbols to focus upon for the duration of the Calling. Colors, Shapes, Directions, Archangels, Hebrew.... All unified into one. See Kabbalah for one. It's the ONLY way to get to the true underlying reality of sacred texts like the Torah. There's a kind of blueprint behind reality. Yes. You are familiar with the Catholic Mass. That is a (mass) magical ceremony. _ADONAI_

Clean comedy is so rare, and so wonderful and so refreshing. So is non-political content! :) Politics are important but people and their stories, just like clean comedy, are more difficult to find and sometimes have way more to teach us.

This made me cry. Having an addictive personality which led me to many addictions in my life, I can relate. All I can say is, when it comes to you, and it will, don't run away from God, run TOWARD Him. Because there's no where else to go except further down, and you don't want to go there. I didn't read the book. I can't afford books, those are luxury items for me. So I appreciate this content. Thank you Glenn and Jeff, for this honest conversation. This is the common family dynamic when God doesn't exist in a culture, when we throw God out; out of our country, our institutions, our schools and out of our homes, the house will not stay empty: the demons come in. He comes to kill, rob and destroy.

I have massive capabilities, yet I always sabotage my future because of my absolute shit upbringing "demons". My mental navigator is Hell bent on steering me into the rocks Rage, gallons of whiskey and numerous law enforcement encounters have only fueled my malicious feeling of self. Ecclesiastics. That was always my feeling about life, even as a teenager. I totally got the gerbil story! 😂 God moves through sponsors for sure. Mine told me to do something kind for another without them knowing I did it. Resentments meant I had to say this prayer... Lord bless them and change me. I really enjoyed and learned from Jeff's story about how our anger can be triggered which surprised me. Like how we get angry to cover up sadness, not just fear. 20 years sober and we never stop learning. God is amazing how he saves us from ourselves. I feel we are blessed to have had struggles to teach us the best lessons that not everyone gets to learn. God bless Glenn and Jeff for sharing. Worship and service. ✝️🙏❤️

wow what an incredible interview. There's some new news in the world of alcoholism I'd like to share. Alcohol itself may not be the culprit. sugar's and grains are just as addictive, whether they're fermented into alcohol or rolled into a Little Debbie snack cake. The addiction seems to be the same. I know this from personal experience. People who remove all fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds and sugar from their diet and go to an all animal-based diet are having success getting themselves off alcohol. I think it's time we will remove the candy from the tables. If you can't stop drinking alcohol, try the diet method first. Most find that craving for alcohol dissipates. ❤💪🔥

I have been a Christian my whole life ! I actively pray n have known that I need help for a long time n yet couldn’t seem to get to the root of where it comes from. The story of the gerbil reminded me of what I used to think 40 years ago before I had kids and forgot. It's amazing the revelations we can so easily forget while being flooded by so many distractions in life. I didn't call it, "moving sticks". I called it, "moving dirt". That's all people do who don't know the Lord. Everything down here is nothing but dirt, and we spend our lives just moving it from one place to another. I needed that reminder at this point in my life, because I am being evicted soon and I'm too old and sick to accomplish such a feat, have no money and no one to help me. It's okay. It's all just dirt anyway, including our bodies.

I loved this... I've been a fan of Jeff Allen for years. He's funny in a clean way. But I never knew he was so very wise also. Glenn's interview gave me so much new knowledge. I wish I had seen this episode 40 years ago.

Im one of the blessed ones. God released me from the crippling abusive behavior. I was able to raise our son without the craziness i grew up with. Not perfect for sure but freedom from the pain.

I first heard of him through your Man in the Moon event in SLC years ago. Have seen him two more times since then and he's terrific!

Loved it. I even took extra time to save the transcript and translated it to Swedish, so my hubby can listen.

Glenn, this is such a good conversation. I am not an addict (or am I, I spent so much time online). Love that you don't shy away from the hard issues, hard questions. Love Jeff Allen and Dry Bar Comedy. I am considering flying to SLC for his Dry Bar show in March!!

I really appreciate this interview and how transparent Jeff was about the porn addiction. That took courage to be vulnerable about that…I really respect that. As an ex wife of a 31 year marriage people need to know how devastating porn/lust addictions are to a marriage. It destroyed mine. Now my family is broken and my grown children have broken family. Unfortunately, my husband wouldn’t get help and love us enough to fight for us 😢❤️🙏
