    I'm literally building this exact model right now - outside as well, making the most of Scotland's four day long summer! I searched for some insight and advice on it, being the first kit I've built in YEARS. So thank you, chum. I'm thinking of removing a couple of 'stripes' on the wing decals to make it like Biggs' Red 3, because I think his X-Wing had cooler detailing. I dunno. Further research is required. But yeah, good video pal 😁

  • @AvengerII

    @@holdenjacob7890 Which new shows? There are over a half-dozen streaming services. Every major Hollywood studio (which own the alphabet networks ABC, CBS, NBC) has its own service. Older shows (many less than 20 years old) are rerun across multiple services, frequently on some free services like TubiTV. The newer still in production shows you have to pay for but they are generally exclusive to ABC, CBS, or NBC and whoever (Disney, Viacom, and Universal respectively) owns those networks. It's not like it was a few years back when Netflix and Hulu had most things available in one package. Heck, Hulu in the past was a free service but you have to pay for it now, ad-supported lower subscription rate or NOT ad-supported higher subscription! [As far as I know, you STILL get access to everything with the lower subscription rate. You just have to sit through ads like it or not.] Streaming is going to cost just as much as cable does if it doesn't already. I don't know. I only have an ISP for broadband. I don't have cable or subscribe to ANY streaming service. I haven't watched cable TV in over 10 years and judging from the quality of entertainment that's passed in that time I haven't missed anything! I get as good or better entertainment NOT paying for KZread. The selection of older films if you look for them is actually pretty darn good on KZread. YT is the capital for classic forgotten films and Film Noir! There's still free HD services over the air. You can get an antenna for your TV set that will let you watch free HD channels. You may only pick up signals from 100 miles or less away but that's better than nothing.

    Years ago I won an eBay auction for a 1970s boxed xwing model. When I began constructing it. The wing system still worked and operated fine, but the main body of the craft (the upper & lower part wouldn't key together. I think I recall the lower part slightly warped out of shape. That kind of killed it for me. A dream of owning what I wished for as a child down the swanny. Has anyone else found a similar defect with that original model kit?

    I had one of these as a kid, played it like a toy, and it probably didn't last for two years. 😢 But on the bright side, I did get the 2002 Dagobah X-Wing around Christmas of 2002.

    I was gonna say that you're en route for a full squadron, when it hit me - Red Squadron has call-signs up to 11(I think) but apart from 1 through 5, ive never seen an image or representation of the higher numbers, y'know? Five appears to be the limit as far as the logo design goes. Hmm. Never thought about it before, but I'd love to see/hear an explanation or example about it 🤔

    Mate I loved the marble effect I would have left it at that, looked fantastic!!! Great build up as usual, really like the clear circle base. Not this version but one of the AMT kit X-wings was used in some of the movie scenes. Great channel - Merry Christmas to you and Family !!!

    Yeah, the marbling gave it an almost camouflaged look, though it's a shame none of that came through after the main all-over body spray. My dad painted one of my old X-Wing models smaller than this years ago, and made it black, with copper detailing and a variation on the Alliance's 'phoenix' logo that I'd designed, and dubbed it a part of "Ghost Squadron: a rebellious group of pilots who survived the destruction of Alderaan and were hell bent on vengeance against the Empire, and answered to no one, like true vigilantes with vendetta in their hearts. That's why they had a large 'V' on their wings. Only just rembered that now! [copyright J&J RIPLEY 1997] 😂

    Do you think maybe applying some light heat via heat gun might've helped with the mounting within the transparent disc? I have a heat gun for EVA foam projects. Maybe a LITTLE softening might help? Or ruin it it in an ugly, floppy, laser trunk mess?

  • @EagleSciFiModeler

    @EagleSciFiModeler

    I'm not sure how the acrylic would react to heat. You may be able to warp the guns a bit for better fit.

    @@EagleSciFiModeler Cool, yeah that was my thinking. I didn't fancy applying heat to the actual disc, but just "nicely warp" the cannons! Either way, it's a kit I've had gathering dust for decades and am just now getting round to having a go. I've got a big Millennium Falcon kit too. Cut-away so you can see parts of the interior which I've painstakingly painted. But after 2 house moves, certain important parts have gone missing, and I've tried searching for spares, but all that pops up are for the '79 Kenner toy. Ah well, I dither on. Thanks for the feedback and keep up the good work 👍

    Not that accurate? It's a pyrotechnic model, then! ************** ************** Nice to see love for Red Leader. Everybody builds this fighter as Red Five for some reason! : ) They had a nice cameo for him and Gold Squadron in Rogue One. The Battle of Scariff was the best part of that movie. To be honest, Rogue One is the only Disney Star Wars movie I have any use for. I'm glad I skipped Episode 9. It sounds worse and worse the more I hear about. I'm much rather remember Star Wars pre-2012.

    I liked Rogue One, it wasn't perfect but there was a payoff at the end with the battle at Scariff and the Vader scene. I haven't seen ROS yet. Most reviews say it's a mess of a movie.
