    Had systems since early 90s never blew 1 piece of equipment. Lol i used to just pick a few songs, turn vol up on radio to where i listened, then turn amps up till i heard it distort, then back off a tad.

    Bro, this is a great topic to bring up. In all my 32yrs of being in the car audio game this is the most misunderstood topic. 1st you have to know 2 things, where does you source clip and 2nd what voltage is it putting out. When you know this now you van set your gains. 1k test tone and 40hz test tone is all you need. Most amps will say 6v at zero gain and .2v at full gain. If your HU puts out 4v or 5v that knob barely moves. If you have a Pioneer for instance it may only put out 2v. If its an old school HU it may do the .2v or 200mA. In those cases the gain will be set higher. Last thing is set gains without bass knob or at max. You can set a system by ear but you have to know what to listen for. Otherwise you clippin' and you trippin'.

    My shit set correct, I usually have my bass knob set at about halfway I can either turn it down when I listen to Bass boosted and I can turn it up when I'm listening to Hendrix or something classic or if I need a little extra bump but usually it's set in the middle for everything in between. No clip, no cap. System in my vic will beat cheeks and been putting in work for 5 years. My new daily I'm still putting everything together.

    You are correct. Lately I’ve had Rockford amps 2500 and I know my head unit is around 3.5 close to 4v so I set my amp in between 3-5 but I never go to 5 . So 3.5 3.8 and I’ve never had my amp or subs go bad. That’s only because I’ve gotten use to my head units and amps

    Ok here's my question I'm new to doing this stuff myself and have had my mouth tore out several times lately by the install shop, jag35 etc and made it to where I have no choice but to learn everything myself to keep from going broke for nothing and I'm trying to learn how to completely tune an amp,DSP the works I'm going to learn everything on the current amp I have just resetting everything after taking a picture and working the process but every time I look up videos the only thing I find is either gain videos or crossover etc everything is split up and videos done by different people who are obviously going to do things a little bit different which is causing some confusion for me do you know of a video that breaks the process down from Start to finish where I can practice each step correctly because I honestly don't even know what to tune first with everything split up in single videos

    Most gains have 6.0v n the left and 0.2v on the right...so the the farther you turn the adjustment clockwise to the right, the weaker your input signal...shout out to all the bosses with a strong input signal who dont have to turn their gain adjustment all the way to the right.😂

    Hey bro great video but I've been watching you for a while I remember you and Jacob were using a oscilloscope And that was working better than the voltmeter. But now I use both just to make sure it's correct and it's been doing good ever since. So now you're saying just the voltmeter would be the best

  • @BassAddict91

    @BassAddict91

    4 ай бұрын

    If you have both that’s great bro. But if you don’t have an oscilloscope or dd-1 the voltage meter will work. You ain’t doing nothing wrong bro. This video is just for guys that can’t afford a oscilloscope or dd-1 they can still set their gains utilizing a multimeter

    You mean like your equalizer? If so set it to your preference bro because that’s how it’s gonna be played on a daily. If you set it one way to tune it then change it after you tuned it already it’ll throw everything off.

    Another thing that's never spoken of, is amplifier input voltage. For example: amplifier input voltage range from 14.4-16.0 volts. The more voltage from your alternator to battery to amplifier.
