Well, you may have noticed that (shall we say) some folk are pretty quick on the uptake, whereas _other_ folk are rather less so ;-)

It's not so much that Moss has an Afro, it's that he has an Afro with a _parting_ - that's next level stuff.. a Geekfro..

The best is yet to come and this show ran for longer than Father Ted did, you're in for one hell of a ride. It really does just get better and better.

You are missing the extra scene in the credits. There is ALWAYS an extra scene and it is sometimes really really funny. Remember in the first episode during the credits it showed their date with the two prostitutes at the fun fair and Denholme talking to his computer because he though Moss had put voice activation software on it. That was all during the credits. NEVER stop the IT Crowd until the credits have ended!!!

To this day, I will never be able to forget the IT Crowd Universes' new emergency number. It's a catchier jingle than they realize. I can't help but sing it every time I remember this episode exists.

that phone number gag is something that has a bit of a strange cult following over here btw lol, when this episode first came out kids used to try to remember and recite the whole number, and i guess that must've stuck with some people forever because i can personally think of at least three times in my adult life where The IT Crowd has come up in conversation and three different peoples were able to immediately quote the whole thing on the spot lol

It helps that Android phones, or at least the Google ones - if you dial the number will vibrate the phone and flash the call button red and blue 👍 gives you a good reason to practice the number 😋

This is one of those series' that just keeps getting better as it goes on. It really hits it's stride once the second season starts.

Jen getting her feet smashed by the boots and Denholm testing Jen's stress are my favorite parts of the episode.

Also a fun fact, on 37:05 where Moss got knocked to the floor by the Firemen who asked who emailed about a fire, Richard Ayoade (Moss's actor) actually got knocked the f**k out for real when they were filming that scene when Roy and Jen's actors were acting being knocked out.

If you like this episode you're gonna love the first episode of series 2 "The Work Outing" you'll laugh so hard you'll probably collapse, I honestly think it's the best episode of the entire show

If it's the crazy goofiness of Father Ted and I.T. Crowd that you love most? You have to check out a show that Graham Linehan (of Father Ted & I.T. Crowd) wrote with stand up comedian Dylan Moran. Starting Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey, it is called 'Black Books'. It's sort of the forgotten one of the three, but it definitely holds its own with them.

The scene that made me laugh hardest this episode was Jen screaming and cursing at the businessman and then the translator leaning in and translating it, XD

Fun fact, if you dial 911 in the UK you get redirected to 999.

The opposite works in the US too, 999, 911 and 112 all works essentially anywhere in the world. You don't want someone fail to call emergency services just because they're abroad, stressed and forget the local number.

Denholm is played by Chris Morris who came to prominence in the UK through appearing in TV series such as The Day Today and Brass Eye. Both are classic comedies and I highly recommend them to you.

It's 999 because on the old rotary phones dialing 9 had the shortest rotation and was, therefore, the quickest number to dial.

Denholm, played by Chris Morris was in the most twisted TV program in history called "Jam". I dare you to watch it...

If the Queen likes Richard Ayoade (Moss) you should try Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, It's a very unusual show within a show where actors look back at a show they wrote, directed, and stared in during the 1980s called Dark Place.

To this day I still remember that new emergency services number, that probably pushed something important out on my brain.

Old dial up phones 999 was quicker to dial. From memory 911 and 111 all work, this was over 20years ago!

999 was picked because false dials on telephone lines, such as birds landing on the wire, would be dialed as 111, so 999 was originally picked to prevent accidental emergency calls. Idk if I said it in an understandable way but it was to prevent false dials caused from errors and environmental factors on telephone lines

911 won't work from landline as 911nnnn is a real exchange, phone number but 112 will work phone

Actually 911 is quicker to dial than 999 on an old phone, that's why the yanks use 911.

@@Coxy_Wrecked 911 was created before 999, like I said previously the original reason 999 was chosen was to prevent false calls on the telephone wires going to the switchboard, bad weather or birds could accidentally dial a 1, so three 1s could be mistakenly dialed. Also you could dial using the receiver on a rotary phone, and quite often you could mistakenly dial a 1 tone through without realising by simply tapping the receiver

Everyone who's watched the IT crowd knows that number off by heart

Wait until Denholm's son makes his first appearance. That's when this show goes to the next level.

Moss is the nerd and Roy is his office friend, Jen is their boss.

Love that you're loving the IT Crowd, one of my all time fav shows. Think once you get into this even more, you should think about reacting to Toast of London! Stars the brilliant Matt Berry, who you'll soon get to know very well due to doing reactions to the The IT Crowd!

Interestingly, the US considered adopting 999 as well, but it wasn't practical due to the design of the switches being used by operators.

10:12 I think from now on whenever anyone mentions "Umbrellas" or "Bikers" I will confuse them (purposely) the same way this show seems to conflate the (meaning of the) words "Golf" and "Fire" lol

If you're really the ones for the crazy stuff.. Black Books is definitely one for you.. Different actors, but the same energy. 🤩 I just realised, this series could just as well be from the same producers as IT Crowd and Father Ted. 🤔

I've love to see you guys react to Black Books as well. It's also co-written/created by Graham Linehan (IIRC Graham Linehan has a cameo in Black Books) and Dylan Moran (he plays the main character in the show). It's more of the same, over the top, goofy comedy. It's probably a good one to react to because there aren't many channels with reactions to Black Books.

You're in for a real treat. Every episode gets funnier and funnier.

not sure how it is in the US, but in almost the entirety of europe you can actually call 999, 911 or 112, and they all call the emergency services. 112 is the default EU number, 999 and 911 also work specifically so that tourists don't have to remember 112

We did the same in Australia, we're 000 for emergency services but 911 and 999 will both automatically divert.

Really glad you are watching this as it's one of my funniest shows and love it. Be interesting to see if you can obtain the Season 3 Episode 4 - The Speech as that individual episode has been cancelled here in the UK on some streaming sites.

When I was a teenager there was a young girl who hosted a tv program and she csl!ed it the Band Pricks. Really funny.

To continue on Queen boomer's point about shoes. Its quite common for clubs here to hand out those cheap sandles to women so they don't break their ankles when tipsy/drunk walking home

If you want another series similar to this later, try Toast of London. Stars Matt Berry - who is the heart of a lot of this comedy. He is Douglas Reynholm (the boss’s son) in The IT Crowd (Douglas was the guy having a wank in the basement toilet in episode 1). How not to live your life is also hilarious. Even if you only watch the episode, Don’s Posh Weekend,i guarantee you’ll laugh yourself silly.

Since I seem to be here early in the comments I'll give a life tip. Anywhere in the world if you need emergency help dial 112 on your mobile. 112 became part of the GSM standard for emergency calls no matter were you were, and the EU then adopted this as a standard in all EU countries for the emergency number (and yes UK, that still applies!) in addition many other countries have also implemented it in landlines too. Even though 999 still works and is still the one primarily stated in the UK 112 will work on landlines too.

999 was chosen for the UK. As it was expected that wind would cause the overhead lines to touch. This would register as a one. So no 111 in the UK. Nine was also chosen, as its easy to find on a rotary dial phone in the dark.
