Renham’s stress speech reminded me of Bono on stage once. Bono pre song is giving a message to the audience and goes ‘every time I click my fingers, a child dies in Africa’ - to which one someone in the audience shouts back ‘we’ll stop clicking your f**king fingers then!’

Bono is a prick and he doesn't even relise it.
Your mention of British calm in event of a fire reminded me of a true story- The Queen's Private Secretary Sir Michael Adean was accosted by a Royal biographer one day when leaving Buckingham Palace. Adeane listened sympathetically, although the visitor did detect just the faintest impression that Adeane would like to be moving on. It was another minute or two before he said: “I do hope you’ll forgive me, but I’ve just heard that my house is on fire. I wouldn’t mind, but as it’s part of St James’s Palace . . .”

That changing the phone number bit is based on what really happened when they replaced directory enquiries which used to have one number which was free, with dozens of competing companies with different numbers and various prices. Even worse, they were paid by volume, with no penalty for accuracy, so one company just gave everybody the number for pizza hut no matter what they asked for, and churned through thousands of customers an hour.

Costs a fortune theyre awful. Pure scam. Also you could use 100 to call an operator who might give u a number but also reverse the charges from phone box. There were numbers you could press first to get a free call lol
The number is not easy to remember….and yet I’ve watched this so many times I can say it out loud perfectly. 🤣🤣

@@JohnKater1971 There are so many episodes and scenes in IT that demand greatness....the dungeons and dragons scene....we are men.....the ghost of Jen chasing that dude....
The new ambulance phone number was designed to be impossible to quickly memorise - that was the whole joke - so the writers were shocked when everyone instantly memorised it. Most of my friends can recite the entire number on demand, even now.

Roy was Jane’s date in Thor: The Dark World. :-)
The IT Crowd are absolutely brilliant. Top comedy with a great acting cast.
Danny Wallace appears in this episode, he's the author of the book "Yes Man" which was the inspiration for the Jim Carrey film of the same name.
Actually it's both the IT Crowd and the It Crowd. Back in 1963 Dobie Gray had a hit with "The In Crowd" and the title is a riff on that as well as I.T.
"not an ear worm", years later I can still remember this damn number!
The fireman was Richard Pettyfer, not Hugh Laurie
Haven’t seen this episode in well over 5 years and recited that phone number like it was yesterday
also gets so much better when matt berry appears (wont spoil who he is!) my fave 2 episodes are the theatre and the waterpark 😂😂😂
Probs everyone in the UK who watched this like me memorised that phone number 😊

Guys you have to watch 'The Work Outing'' episode. Literally one of the funniest things you will ever see!
As per usual when this episode is discussed I have to point out: dialing the number on Android (at least) triggers an easter egg ;)
In an interview Graham Linehan referred to it as the "it" crowd, with David Llewellyn from Red Dwarf in his KZread channel where he would basically taxi celebrities wherever they need to go.
Just waiting for the episodes here the boys teach Jen about "The Internet" and the one where they go to the theater. You guys will lose it over them!
The Work Outing you will cry laughing
12:00 "This is a very British way of approaching any situation." Absolutely not - the first step in any crisis is to make tea.
Nearly a decade later and I still remember that emergency phone number
The weirdest thing is I will remember that ridiculous phone number until I die. Yet I still need to think twice what the actual emergency number is in my own country (they changed it a while ago)
No way I'll ever forget this number. It's a classic.
Chris Morris is national treasure, you guys should watch The Day Today and Brass Eye 😂 two of the funniest shows you’ll ever watch 😂
Top top series!!! Glad you guys are reacting to this love the channel!! You're in for a ride!!
I can't wait until they get to "A fire?! At a sea parks?!"
I'm English and worked in I.T. for 37 years from 1970, and find this programme as funny as crppled kittens.

For more crazy Chris Morris (Renham) you need "The Day Today", "Brass Eye" and "Jam"
You are going to love this. I still laugh after watching it all multiple times.
Still remember that number to this day lol
You have made a great choice. This show is hilarious.
Hey guys remember Basil Fawlty with the fire extinguisher. 'f f f fire'
I'm sort of pleased that ETS are doing this because (as shown by the FT marathon) they really go at it, no waiting several days for the next one. I don't think they'll find 'The Speech' on KZread, which is my personal favourite, I reckon someone should send them a hard copy, their in-your-face copyright banner should prevent any blowback
Oi! You pair (In me best Fred Dibnah northern accent.) 😂 You laughed so hard at that infomercial that I re-watched it a few times. Now? I got the bloody tune in me head non stop for 2 bloody days. Can't remember the number though. Lol. Other than the delayed 3 at the end.
Once had a Halloween party where a friend dressed in a sheet went up in flames. I casually turned to say, Michael you're on fire mate then carried on with my conversation. Im sure if I was American I'd have screamed OH MY GOD WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!
You can say both I.T. and it crowd because it's 2 I.T guys wanting to be in the it crowd, which is another name for in crowd. meaning a crowd of people who are seen to be "in vogue" or "it". Thats the whole point of the name. It's both.
this is an amazing show. I like both Denholm and Douglas
Roy´s actions in Stresspert doorway and class gave me same effect as Kay & Peele´s Substitute Teacher.
I saw this episode 8 years ago and can still remeber the ph number. That gingle actually works haha😂😂
Hi Daniel, back in the `60`s there was such a thing as the "it" crowd, it tended to include Supermodels & other A-list celebrities.
I'm glad you got around to this. It grows on ya, and as the series goes along, the better it gets. And it's OK, Dan, as we in the UK, also call it The IT crowd, not The I.T, Crowd.

According to the dvd commentaries both I.T. and it are correct.
I'd like to think Steven Toast is doing the voice over for the new number .
No. That was not Hugh Laurie as a firefighter at the end.
Oh trust me, I still remember the number after all these years.
My favourite episode ❤
The ad in the beginning of the show is a criticism of the fact that everything is getting privatised in the Uk
class lads thank you
IT Crowd. Always a good watch. Funny.
And she's falling down the stairway from heaven...
I love that you love the stuff I love
I don't know how anyone can tumble down a flight of stairs, you stick your hands and feet out and you stop yourself immediately. In movies they seem to forward roll down the stairs for some reason.
You need to dive into the rabbit hole that is chris morris...the day today.....brass eye..and if your brave enough..jam.
Loving this. I'd be really interested to see your reaction to a clip of Michael McIntyre's Midnight Gameshow. As entertaining as it is, I'd like to know how you think this would potentially play out if someone tried it in America.

Nah, the best of them all if "Father Ted"!
I had a boss who was an idiot. I was talking on the phone to him from our office about one of his 'great ideas'. I said to him "I'm sorry, did I call you an idiot?" He replied " No? " I continued "Oh thank goodness. You know how sometimes people say out loud what their thinking." We ended the conversation and the entire staff in the office had gone silent then gradually they started laughing. I don't think my boss ever realised what had happened.
Hi there! Let’s go out off you’re comfort zone😏 try “ solid stigma” from Angerfist ✌🏻
The name is sort of a double meaning. The IT Crowd and The I.T. Crowd. Back when the show was made the word "it" was a thing. The most famous example, I think, was Paris Hilton and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson. They were know as "it" girls. I'm honestly not sure what "it" meant. Probably being famous because they were famous. So you have the "IT" crowd who are a bunch of famous, cool, people. And the "I.T" crowd who are the complete opposite.
