This animated show cuts from different episodes of the podcast and mashes them together a bit which is why some things might not seem that connected to the conversation they had before it and such.

It also includes content that was never in the podcasts, like Karl referring to that "travel thing" on several occasions, which is no doubt a reference to An Idiot Abroad, a show that was probably filmed in 2009. Some stories are from 2006, and others are from maybe as late as 2010 or 2011.

A lot, if not most, of these questions had already been asked on the XFM show. Ricky and Steve sat down and wrote the questions they knew Karl would have brilliant answers to and then the actual podcast has been cut down by about 10-20 mins for the animated version.

A lot of people are pointing out the that the episodes are snippets taken from different podcasts and that's why the subjects and topics of conversations change quickly. This is part of the reason, but it's also the fact that Ricky knows what is funny, and he's constantly bouncing ideas off Karl and trying to get him thinking or put him in to imaginary scenarios to see how he'll react etc. So if something isn't working, or Ricky doesn't think it's funny, he'll immediately move to something else. From Ricky and Steve's standpoint, these conversations aren't serious, they're solely to get Karl to react in a humorously.

Yeah I know what you mean. On some level I guess he’s just saying that it would illuminate the anxiety of dying from AIDS after being gang raped by clowns or being in a car crash that reduced you and your family to dust because the petrol tank ruptured and somehow doused the interior with burning fuel so intensely hot that the resulting fire burned away everything down to the chassis, but you’d still spend your life frightened to go to sleep at night wondering if you’d wake to see the next morning.

The tribesmen they were talking about are on the North Sentinel islands, they're very aggressive and untrusting of outsiders, I think he's referring to an incident where fishermen got shipwrecked on the island and they had to fight off the tribesmen so they were rescued by helicopter. They were stone age people but have recently moved into the iron age by using scraps of metal from the shipwreck

They have had very little contact with the outside world, and most of the contact that happened has been hostile. The Indian government had sent officials to the island with gifts of coconuts but they had to leave after being threatened by the natives. After the boxing day tsunami of 2004 a coast guard helicopter flew over to check if the islanders were safe- a man was seen with a bow and arrow and he fired an arrow at the helicopter. The Indian government forbids anyone from visiting this island as previous attempts at contact have been so hostile. In recent years- I'm not sure how long ago but it was after the 2004 boxing day tsunami- a Christian missionary ignored the ban and made his way to the Island to preach to them. The boat that dropped him off close by and was waiting for him saw him being slaughtered on the beach. I don't remember exactly but I don't think his body was retrieved. An amazing example of a stone age culture that exists right now. Karl was right on this one- I don't know about the bit about them shaking their tackle- but they definetly shake their spears to show visitors they are not welcome.

I think the randomness comes from the viewers. They've stuck to the same format..."Here's some questions sent in from Emails for Karl" "Now it's time for Karl's Diary" and finally Monkey news. They're just reading the stuff that viewers are asking about. When they cut to the animation scene of getting a refill of water at the cooler or another cup of coffee that's not a "bounce" that's a "end scene" We're done talking about that, time for a different question. And the time and format, I feel, has been fairly consistent throughout all of the episodes including this one. But the viewer questions are getting way more random for sure.

4:20 I don't agree with this. We have lots in common. We both get hungry, both get tired, both experience a range of common basic emotions etc. In the same way a dog can understand us, a lion certainly could. These so called "experts" make up shit that cannot easily be tested and Ricky automatically believes them without thinking about it.

I agree with Ricky. If there's no such thing as disease, deadly accidents, murder or any kind of accidental or painful deaths, there'd be a lot less stress. You just pass away at some point in your old age while sleeping. You'd do whatever you want, not having to worry about consequences as there really are none.

Yes, but Karl believes he wouldn't, so this is a more realistic hypothetical Karl can engage with, rather than picturing a cartoon lion griping to him about the London Zoo.

I don’t understand what Ricky means by having no stress if you die in your sleep. Because then you would be scared of going to sleep.

Maybe he means that if you knew that you could only die in your sleep then you would be free to take many risks- bungy jumping, sking from crazy slopes and things that dare devils do. But I still don't think that many more people would do these activities than do them now. It's the element of risk that makes these activities desirable to some.

Mandy, you're great and all that, but the moment you start thinking when listening to Karl that (10:02) ''he has a point'', you yourself are approaching idiocy.
