In the Jon, Sean and Jimmy onstage personas, they all took a roll and stuck with it. It just worked out that there are far more jokes for the Jon ( nerdy, vegetarian, OCD ) role than the other two.

David Baddiel co wrote the song 3 Lions with Frank Skinner and Ian Broudie from the rock band The Lightening Seeds. It was a massive hit in 1996 when England hosted the European Championships. (actually watched a game live, Spain vs Bulgaria) Ever since it has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for the English national team. I'm not sure how much David contributed although Baddiel and Skinner are credited with supply the lyrics whist Broudie added the music.

Top Tip: If ever you want to confirm whether you did something (e.g check the gas is off, did you close the door, etc.) when you do the task and you know you’ve done it, do something out of the ordinary (e.g, do a silly dance, pat your head & rub your tummy, salute exaggeratedly, etc.). That way, if ever you question yourself later, you can remember the silly thing you did which will be your marker that you did the task in question. I do this and it works for me.

Rod said "round of applause he's a genius" to Jimmy because jokes about the Welsh and sheep are considered bottom of the barrel lazy material, so it was basically a sarcastic "f@#k you" rather than disarming him with a compliment. If I had your interpretation wrong....uh, just give me a sarcastic "f@#k you" 😂😂

I think David Baddiel is still, almost 30 years later, most famous for co-writing and co-performing the song Three Lions along with fellow comedian (and Taskmaster alumnus) Frank Skinner and the band Lightning Seeds. It was England's official song for the 1996 Euro Championship (football). And in fact it was so good that they made it again for the World Cup two years later, with changed lyrics. I think David mentions on Taskmaster that he's been on the number 1 spot in the charts four different times or something with the same song. I don't fully understand why, in these days, anyone would have a gas stove top.

I hate having gas heating in the house but theres no choice where I live now ( Devon.).....as a child in Manchester, a house in the next street disappeared one Sunday afternoon.....gas explosion🤯🙀 so, not an irrational fear then 🔥🚒😸

"natural gas" from Russia. So I bought a hob with induction, which is very quick and uses less energy than previous hobs. This particular model has a really noisy and annoying ventilator which is sure to tell me it has not been switched off. Nice. It sounds about as loud as a 1970s hair dryer.

I really enjoy this type of humor! I also never knew about Mr. Bean and his antics until your website. In addition, I would suggest showing Laurel and Hardy's comedy short Blotto. It is 20 minutes of sheer comedy and joy, perfect for lifting a person out of the doldrums.

Apparently Sarah and her husband will be together on the next episode, airing this friday, 2nd of August, I believe. Took them quite a while to make that happen!

On taskmaster you have a certain amount of time, whereas if you are writing a song or a book, you have more time.

David Baddiel's main accomplishment is to get a double first from Cambridge in English Literature, which isn't an easy get. In entertainment, both he and Frank Skinner penned the football anthem "Three Lions", which was and still is, a huge hit, #1 on the charts and sung throughout football stadia for over 30 years, though how much of this is down to their lyrics or The Lightning Seeds' composition and singing (Baddiel is a TERRIBLE singer) is unknown. Aside from that, The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Fantasy Football were popular at the time but hardly peak entertainment, Baddiel's most memorable contribution during those shows to make fun of a footballer's haircut (Baddiel wearing blackface), leading to that person being bullied, losing his confidence, and having mental health problems. So, all in all, a really smart guy who, arguably, hasn't made as much out of it as, say, Stephen Fry or David Mitchell (both ex Cambridge / Footlights / BBC comedians).

With Electric stoves, ours has a timer that you need to activate the rings. once the timer ticks down it then deactivates the rings. But yes as a fellow sufferer of OCD, that was an asshole move. An ex did the same thing to me on a plane once. I literally had to call my friend who had a spare key to feed the kittens, and made her go check at 11pm.

Cats Does Countdown is very gradually fading away; they'll announce a new series and it'll turn out to be only 3 new ones before showing some repeats then quietly slipping off. It hasn't really been the same since Sean Locke died, and Jon's appearances aren't always guaranteed.

David Baddies writes very successful kids books, but also pretty intellectual ones about religion and such. I think he writes stage shows and has been a comedy performer as is his wife, since the early 1990s.
