It is so respectable that in a time where artists were literally losing careers for mentioning the presidents name in a negative light, that they created an entire album where at least half the songs directly criticized and called out the presidency
Definitely not the deepest Green Day song, but happy to have The Pop Song Professor back talking about historically my favorite band!

I'd say that 18 years later we can be safe to say that Billie Joe was the one in the right about this subject. I think a super fun song for you to analyze next would be "Model Buses" by Lovejoy. It is a very fun song about what if Boris Johnson was just some normal dude instead of being a prime minister. Also Lovejoy has been very popular in the last year could help bring more new viewers to the channel.

I wouldn’t say underrated, now maybe they aren’t taken as seriously but when this album came out they were on top of the world with several songs on this album remaining in the top ten, with boulevard of broken dreams being played on mtv2’s top ten for over two years straight. Where they are underrated/forgotten is the fact that even though they aren’t emo, they absolutely paved the way for the mainstream popularity of emo to even take hold within the following two or three years. This album also got so many kids into guitar like no other album of MY generation which was really cool.
This song is even more relevent today than EVER! Also you are soo correct on how it applied to today.
You should totally analyze Jesus of Suburbia from the American Idiot album! It has a lot of messages in it, especially in relation to the theme/story of the overall album.
Glad you're back! Also, is the group in the thumbnail from the musical because that doesn't look like Billy Joel Armstrong or Mike Dirnt.

Don't know if it's too much but I'd love to hear you talk about/ analyze the entire album "American Idiot". From what I understand the entire album is made to tell this story that begins with the song "American Idiot" and every song is very purposeful with it's message. (ex: "When September Ends" has a very different meaning when you understand it is sung by an artist mourning 9-11 and what the world had become)

According to Billie Joe Armstrong's handwritten lyrics and the official American Idiot liner notes the 1st verse should instead be: "Don't wanna be an American idiot Don't want a nation under the new *_mania_* " Which changes the meaning completely as the singer is now talking about the constant fear of terrorism in America after 9/11, which fits better the context of verse 1 (about hysteria and subliminal mind-fucking). Due to his accent and intonation it's unclear whether he actually says "media" or is simply stretching the vowel and consonant of "mania" to make a double meaning.
I think that you should look into some bring me the horizon songs they are quite interesting I'd love for you to break them down, especially song avalanche
