Last week my father was buried. He died in a nursing home that was under quarantine. He told my mum once that Amazing Grace should be his farewell song. He loved to sing too before he lost his voice due to a lung disease. He would have loved your beautiful rendition. Thank you so much for bringing him back for a brief moment.❤️❤️❤️

I’m sorry you associate it with funerals. It is a song filled with hope and thrilled understanding of the eternal future this great man of God realizes he has because of making Jesus Christ his savior.

For those who are unaware this is not a slave song. This was actually written by a slave owner that finally understood that slavery was wrong and this is his repentance song.... It was about forgiving oneself and understanding God... And saved him after repenting.... And feeling the spirit ... It has many meanings now for different people... For me my grandmothers and my mothers wish to be sung....

my grandpa is dying on a hospital bed due to two stokes. my friend has terrible cancer all over his body. i'm battling with a lot of hardships, but this uplifted me more than you can imagine. thank you mr. mat and savanna.

I love the generosity of Mat and Savanna not needing to be the center of this video and allowing others to share their talents and shine, too. This was so lovely. Thank you all who performed and all who made this happen. What better song than a song that speaks of the great generosity of God through Jesus.

John Newton (1725 - 1807), the writer of this hymn, was an English slave trader who called on God during a severe storm at sea. Being spared from the storm and certain death he gave his life to Jesus and later became an abolitionist because of his faith in Christ. He said late in his life: "My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things: that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Savior."

Absolutely beautiful! My father passed away on 2/23/21. The day before he was moved to hospice, he prayed with our chaplain, seeking Gods forgiveness and salvation. He received that amazing grace , and I know that I’ll share entirety with dad in the Kingdom. Listening to your rendition of Amazing Grace left me smiling and not in tears. I saw the joy in your faces and was reminded of this greatest gift offered for free from our Lord and Savior. Most everything leaves me in tears nowadays, except this video. It’s gives me joy. Thank you for that.

This song was played at my dad’s funeral as it’s one of my favourites. My dad was not really a big music person so he didn’t care too much about what we chose. This rendition was definitely the best I’ve ever heard. The voices came together as one and were absolutely beautiful. As my dads 2 year anniversary of his passing nears I am reminded that his chains are gone and where he is now he can walk again. Thank you and God Bless.

My son and I were just talking about this song yesterday!. It's history, who wrote it, etc. How perfect! Like God!

I have never thought of this hymn as being depressing and it was sung at my husband’s funeral. I was in the room with him as he passed and I felt the presence of angels as they carried him home. I have a great faith and my husband did as well, we never looked at death as the end, it is just the beginning.

Many unbelievers think death to be final - while there are many others others who blame God - but either through their own unbelief or lack of faith they have it backwards. After death 'IF' through our life we've been faithful to GOD (we've earned our reward) we go to our eternal resting place and "our spiritual life truly is just beginning." :) Sadly & disturbingly atheists believe 'GOD & his plan' is only a fairytale....

Oh, wow! I sang this at church solo a capella a few years ago. I noticed people were singing along with me. After the song our director softly played the tune on the piano as a segue to the next portion of the service. That old Africa sorrow chant, sung in pentatonic scale, has come a long way. Matt, Savanna, and company - you have all made the end of my day quite nice. Bravo! Thank you.

It is such a pretty song! One of our favorites!

We had this sung (not this arrangement) at my momma's funeral. She was in kidney failure and had a PICC line for dialysis. She always hated it. The lyric line "My chains are gone, I've been set free" reminded me of her PICC line. She no longer needed that life line.

I've need feet heard it sung so beautiful. Thank you I needed this. My daughter and her fiance was involved in a accident yesterday with a drunk driver. The drink driver was charged. Although they seem ok it totaled out my daughter's car. With my worries right now I sure needed this. Thank you again.

This was my husband's favorite hymn. He passed away in July from cancer & this was one of the hymns at his memorial. It's been 5 months today, I miss him so much😇🙏 RIP my Baby Shoes.

I love this arrangement. The harmonies are beautiful. The voices in the choir are wonderful. All in all, a new favorite😊

Never have I ever thought that anyone wold have surpassed Pentatonix for this song. I can see the true love of father and daughter and the chosen family supporting with their angelic and divine contribution. Please never stop.
