This was filmed at Raynes Room Recording Studio, which is attached to Layne’s house and has been a business he’s run for years. Voiceplay recorded there a lot before Pattycake got their video studio. Many of the ACA Top Ten videos and others like Chandelier were filmed at Raynes Room. Layne arranged this song, and dressed the set with many items personal to the group. A Hamilton playbill (Deejay was part of the Angelica tour of Hamilton as a swing, playing any of six parts on a moment’s notice, including the lead.). A Switch game console for Cesar. Personal items from Layne included his violin, hoverboard and a book of his favorite animated movie, as well as the Jewelry sign from his grandmother (who used to own a jewelry store) and other items from his kids and wife.

The day before he had to staple black curtains over the windows to the outside of his house to keep the sun out. His daughter Doris helped him. She just turned 7 in January. This was their video Feb this year.

This song was written by one of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, who had agoraphobia and spent a lot of time in his room. VoicePlay have put a whole new spin on it, singing about their rooms where they go to plan and record these videos. Beautiful, isn't it? DeeJay is incredible but now they also have Anthony for riffing as well. :)

I love that the VoicePlay boys know exactly who to invite to sing the perfect song for the guest's voice. And Deejay never failing to flirt with the camera is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Did you know that Tim Foust does this and sings all parts himself... totally awesome. (Not to take away anything from the VoicePlay guys!)

I think that you should really do a deep dive into the Beach Boys, not necessarily for your channel but for your personal benefit. In my honest opinion, the Beach Boys were the Voice play of their time. The song Barbara Ann came about from them just chilling on the beach just riffing around a campfire and it became one of their most iconic songs. And as the band matured and because of Brian Wilson's musical genius, a lot of their later stuff went beyond the beach and was groundbreaking and innovative.

This song is sooo beautiful... and it is horribly underrated. I don't understand - WHY?? You got an explanation? Anyone? Happy, you liked it too... 😊🎉❤

I always found the original of this by the Beach Boys to be a bit of a dirge but then VoicePlay worked their magic on it and I love their version! Look forward to seeing your reaction to it. ☺

I know that everyone tends to get stuck on their "epic" covers, but the harmonies in this one! The harmonies! In the BTS they have "bass lessons" and Cesar and Eli both got low enough that they could have sung Geoff's part. I sometimes forget they also have 5 octave ranges, they just start a bit higher.

This is one of my favorite of their covers. If you look around in that room they're in, there are elements of all their personalities. Including a program from Hamilton. Each thing in there was chosen by one of the boys to represent their "room."

I remember when this song came out in the '60s, I saw The Beach Boys perform it on some TV variety show. No instruments. They just all sat on some big prop and sang it. As mentioned by others, Tim Foust also has a cover. A solo multitrack.

I seem to remember them mentioning in one of their group chats that they did sound Deejay out about becoming a permanent member a while back but he's so busy with Hamilton and things are going well for him so he couldn't do it. Otherwise, I think he might have joined.

This one has the most beautiful harmonies!! They really just don't get the views they deserve. Gorgeous! ❤

this one's been a sleeper hit for me. beach boys are not my usual rotation, but i have very fond memories of their music thanks to my dad, and while i never thought this one (both as a beach boys song and a voiceplay cover) would be one of my favorites, i listen to it as often as some of my big VP favorites. loved the reaction, great song to just vibe to!

My favorite cover of this song.

This was the theme song of my angst-y teen years. While I don’t have agoraphobia, I do suffer from both generalized anxiety and social anxiety. So I have always related to this song. The Beach Boy version is slow and soothing and this one’s a little more upbeat and fortunately I love them both.

VoicePlay has fun and theatrical songs, but once in a while they show off pure acapella talent. No costumes, no dubstep and wild bass drops, just beautiful voices. This is one of those songs, under-appreciated because it isn't theatrical, and all the sourpusses who compare every song VoicePlay covers to other artists. ("PTX or Home Free or whoever did it first so now I hate every other rendition." So common, and such a sad way to go through life, thinking everything must be judged rather than appreciated, especially music!) By the way, I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but your tattoo looks awesome. 😊

Believe it or not, there is a reactor who doesn't like Voiceplay to pass the lead around. He thinks that there should be one lead singer and everyone else should be background. What a tragic way of thinking. Great reaction, DJ. I understand that Brian Wilson, who wrote the song, suffered from agoraphobia and was really hiding in his room a lot of the time.

I keep hearing about a reactor who hates that VP doesn't use a lead (honestly, that's not "real" acapella anyway and it's when a lot of people stopped liking PTX), dismisses Geoff as a showoff (yet doesn't mind when a tenor shows off high notes), and complains that Cesar is "annoying" and too theatrical. Literally, everything that makes VoicePlay fun and different from PTX, he despises. I don't know who this guy is, and I'm so glad I haven't come across him yet. What a sad way to go through life. I hope all that is a single guy, because, like, who can possibly hate Cesar or Geoff's voice? My optimistic brain wants there to only be one sourpuss out there, while I only follow fun or educational reactors. Peter, Jenn, Brad, Mortius, Kaz, DJ, of course Charismatic Voice... I check out others sometimes but these guys are the best in my opinion.

I no longer remember the reactor, but I landed on a guy reacting to PTX with “Hallelujah” and he spent the 40 seconds I was willing to give him disliking them because they were “too good.” The comment section was hilarious, I have to add.

The amazing talents and creativity of VP are on display here, but in all honesty, I prefer Tim Foust's version of this one. I found the overuse of those staccato starts and stops disrupting the flow of the lyrics and the song in general. Just my opinion, of course, but not my favorite from VP.

Interesting - I’m just the opposite. For me the staccato is what saves this song. I always found the original boring and blah. Surprising since I normally loved Beach Boys harmonies. But this more upbeat beat and rhythm really works well for me. I always find it so interesting just how different others preferences can be.

To be honest, I like Tim Foust's version better.

Add to that the fact that Tim sang every part of the harmony himself. That's what made it mind blowing to me.
