Shabbir's mention of " I, the Lord deceived him" actually means "I punished him or I destroyed him" in context if you read the full versus. Shabbir uses the literal writings of the bible and manipulates it to mean as God deceives someone as how a human deceiving the another. In general sense, God is good for good people, God is bad for bad people. so, here in the book of Ezekiel, God makes a false prophet to be deceived and be perished. God punish him with way he deserves. It doesn't mean God is deceptive!!!. That's the context here. God does not deceive somebody unjustly and brags about it. This deceiving quality obviously does not belong to God. That is what Arul seems to emphasize here. Shabbir doing the strawman willfully in very Islamic god's way for Islam!

@Luar Biasa God the Creator has a right to Destroy or Make his creation at his Will, according to his ethics BY DEFAULT. This simple yet powerful verse can save many if it was followed to the t. I have a problem with most religion's idea of God because they each put "God" into a box of their design. To me, a true God would love all of his creation equally no matter what we say or do.

The Qur’an features Moses’ confrontations with Pharaoh 27 times in the first 89 of its 114 chapters. However, not even once in the exodus saga accounted in the Quran is there any mention of the Passover. Readers of both the Bible and the Qur’an soon find out that although there are passages in the Qur’an that refer to the laws of Moses (directly as well as indirectly), the subject of sacrificial law, the offerings, and their purpose has been avoided. The Qur’an completely ignored the tenth sign God gave Moses, stating that God “had certainly given Moses nine evident signs” and then, tongue in cheek and in the same breath, tells the reader to go and “ask the Children of Israel” (Sura 17:101). The tenth sign, the Passover, is when God declared a death penalty against all firstborns in the entire land of Egypt, regardless of ethnic background. The Israelites were also under this death threat. There was only one way the firstborn sons could be spared the angel of death. If the families obeyed God’s command to sacrifice a Passover lamb and placed some of the blood on the doorframes of their homes (Exodus 11-12), their firstborns would be safe. On that night, every firstborn child of the Egyptians died. The Israelite children were spared because the blood of the Passover lambs had been placed on the doorframes of their houses. According to the Bible, it was the tenth plague that marked the turning point in Pharaoh’s relentless resistance to letting God’s people leave. After the Passover, he finally agreed to let the Israelites go free. This illustrates the story of redemption, the central theme of the Bible. Through Adam’s fall we lost our spiritual relationship with God. The Passover Lamb is a picture of the task and process to bring us back to God, which would become complete in Jesus as our Passover lamb. The great sacrifice promised to Abraham (Genesis 22:8) and now symbolically presented in the Passover event points to Jesus. Centuries after the Passover occurred, Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic covenant and introduced the new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31) to bring us back to God! Jesus is not only for the Israelites, but is also for “whoever” would accept him as the Lamb of God and believe in him. He promises they “will have eternal life” (John 3:15-17). Elsewhere in the Bible we are told, “For even Christ our Passover lamb is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast…” (1 Corinthians 5:7-8) Although the Qur’an has around 90 verses about Jesus, it presents a Jesus who, although is the word of God, is only a prophet who did not die on the cross. Muslims believe Jesus was bodily taken into heaven and that one day, he will be back and turn all Christians and Jews to Islam. Since Muhammad denied the death of Jesus on the cross (Sura 4:157-158), he thus purposely avoided mentioning the Passover, which foreshadowed Christ as the atonement for those who would believe in him. Jesus is the fulfillment of what the Torah presents (Matthew 5:17; Luke 24:44). shabir is using ezekiel 14:9 out of context:....1)it says "if".....2) there is an "inquirer"....meaning, the verse is not saying that YHWH actually lied, its just an illustration IF the prophet decides to give in to the inquirer and lied, plus the hebrew word used actually means ENTICE, to tempt....unlike allah who actually decieved those who saw jesus crucified and literally said that he is a great deciever

About Ezekiel 14:9 - This is a future claim, meaning God is telling Ezekiel to tell the people of Israel - This is what I WILL do IF you people of Israel bring your idols . So God hasn’t done it yet - actually God is telling them before hand - if there is a prophet that comes to me deceived - he saying that He deceives him so that Israel can come back to God . So 1 God hasn’t deceived anyone yet.2 God is being open to what he will do so that no- one won’t be surprise about it and 3. If God does this he says so that Israel will come back to Him. So he has a purpose of why he would do it which was to make an example out of the prophet. There’s no reason any Muslim can you this passage to Say that Our God deceives.

I was very much looking forward to these two guys getting together and debating but already and from the very beginning Shabbir feels Arul is being devious and snide. From what i've seen of Shabbir he wouldn't make things like this up and even if he did, surely Arul should want to investigate his greivance and help Shabbir put things right. But he's just not interested. I see this as an immediate black mark against Arul. With regards to the first debate point of "sinning under duress", Shabbir tells us that "God directly deceives" then goes on to prove it from a literalist perspective. Watching carefully i have to admit i was delighted to hear Arul talk about the context of that single verse Shabbir used and waited for him to show us how to understand it properly. But instead Arul deflected and tried to change the subject. This is very poor debating by Arul. I'm not sure if he knows he's being dishonest but he is and he has to realise this fact. Whatever our motives are we have to be totally honest when debating these simple things and that goes for all of us.
