Nightwish doing Nightwish things (yes I realise that is someone else's phrase) no matter who the leading lady is with the trademark transitions and multi layering. This is a cracker and Tarja's light as a feather voice here suits it perfectly contrasted with the heavy riffs. Cool song that blends heavy metal sound perfectly with soft vocals. Nightwish have never performed this song live. Tarja sang Dead Gardens many times in her solo career. In general in Tarja's solo performance you can see a lot of songs that Nightwish never performed live for some reason.

Thanks so much for your reaction to this song. Dead Gardens is a very underrated song, but there are plenty of hidden gems in Nightwish's discography for which there isn't a good live track video. It's a harder song and Tarja's voice is very soft here and I enjoy how she plays with it. And I really like Alanna's new hair color 🙂

What sweet and beautiful Tarja's voice here, gave the correct and exactly melancholy to the message Tuomas wrote. Still there's people that swears that Tarja can only sing in operatic style 😂😂

I just realized this now but the song might have a reference to a Finnish painter Hugo Simberg. You see...he has a famous painting called "The garden of death". It's an interesting piece. Edit: in Finnish, it's "Kuoleman puutarha" and since Finnish culture has always seen death not as an event but more like a person/entity, it literally means the garden belongs to death himself. In the painting there are skeletons caring for it. For an old painting it is something very unique indeed.

I think there are a lot of links between the lyrics of Nightwish's and Tarja's lyrics. Sometimes it can be a coincidence, sometimes not. For example, Tarja sings about Shangri-La in the song Tears in rain and "We've seen our Shangri-La". Tuomas writes about Shangri-La in Angel Fall First "Not relieved by thoughts of Shangri-La". It's a kind of Easter egg for fans that can also be fan fiction 😀🙈
