Auri II is coming out in September, first single Pearl Diving is out already. And it's magical! "Lightwish" is the term commonly thrown around 🥰 Johanna Kurkela has a long and successful solo career in Finland, in recent years she has started to put out music in english with another Johanna (Iivanainen) as Altamullan Road. They are lovely!

@@ThomFoolery1 You could definitely see the direction of travel of HUMAN :||: NATURE by listening to this album. The seeds are there. "Auri ll : Those We Don't Speak Of" is the upcoming album. And Kai Hahto is also on the new album.

Troy plays a lot of the instruments, much of the drumming in this is actually a Bodhran which is played with both hands one changing the pitch and teh other beating the rhythms across the skin and frame. The whole album is very freeing for the mind, I think all three of them worked on all aspects of the writing taking inspiration from nature. Tuomas has said the Auri project re-ignited his love to write for Nightwish and resulted in Human II Nature

Hi Thomas, Nightwish is back. Yesterday they gave a secret concert in the North-Finnish town Oulu. They played there with their new baseplayer and performed among others a few songs from their latest album, Noise, Music, Shoemaker, Harvest. You’ll enjoy it I think….

Glad you've discovered Auri! They're such a magical group. Definitely check out their brand new single, 'Pearl Diving'. It's absolutely phenomenal, gives me chills every time I listen to it and has become my instant favourite. Some gorgeous guitar work from Troy on that one too, in addition to Johanna's gorgeous voice!

Tuomas did say that this album Auri. Gave him inspiration to write Human to Nature. On the new Auri album Kai has done some of the drum work So slowly Auri is becoming the sister to Nightwish I cant wait for Auri to tour. Tuomas has said they will..Johanna was the voice on Shoemaker the Shakespeare lyrics..

Tuomas said he had a quite severe writers block after EFMB, and Auri help to ease that… HN got a lot inspiration from that. So you are right.

If I remember correctly I saw in an interview with Troy that he composes at least some of the music for Auri.

I was so captivated with the diminished chords played at the bridge before the key changed from Cm to Dm. With the folk (whistles) and slightly electronic (E bow) elements balanced so well, the musical journey which Auri created tended towards the style of world music. You can find the evolving sound even more interesting in their first single “Pearl Diving” from the forthcoming 2nd album.

I love this group. Been listening to it for weeks. Whole album is beautiful.

Thomas’s work on the keys is magical in this. Quite an uplifting arpeggio beat with a soulful pad in the background.

Good reaction. Beautiful song. Hear Auri for the first time. Good voice. Good music. Need to hear more. Troy also used the guitar for “the greatest show on earth” at Wembley. Thank you for this reaction.

Been meaning to check Auri out…figured this is a good way to start. Her voice is perfect for this music. The melody is great and very catchy. Tuomas and Troy definitely jive well together in their writing and playing.

So mellow, yet incredibly catchy. It's like a fusion of Sally Oldfield and Georgio Moroder.

I found Auri through Nightwish, and I can see obvious similarities, given that twò members are in both bands. I love the more folky feel of Auri, though. It's nice to hear a slightly different side to Tuomas and Troy. Favourite track so far is Fireside Bard. Very "cosy winter evening by an open fire"-ish.

This song is sooo pure, it's uplifting and calming at the same time. And Johanna's voice is so beautifully unique. I'm so glad you decided to check out Auri, especially this song. :)

I also love the chorus melody. It just takes you away to another world. Very spiritual. You should definitely check out "Night 13". It is amazing and very deep spiritually. In a small way it reminds me of Enya or some type of Celtic new age music. Tuomas did say that doing this Auri record gave him many ideas for the Human :II: Nature songs. Loved it Thomas. Be well.

The addition of Johanna's violin playing is an often overlooked magical ingredient to AURI's beautiful sound. Johanna's other band project, "Altamullan Road" also has a similar vibe to AURI; ethereal & magical. It has another connection to Tuomas, as it features as her musical partner, another Johanna {Iivanainen [w/ 2 ii's]} who sang with her on Tuomas's solo song "A Lifetime of Adventure" (You need to hear THAT one too! It also features Johanna I's husband on guitar).

Nightwish without the metal ... You can see how doing this inspired Tuomas to create on Human :||: Nature.

My favourite too. Troy on vocals, and probably Johanna on viola. It's hauntingly beautiful, and a bit of a tear-jerker.

Never heard about Auri. Interesting about their Style. Calm, not heavy, like it. Also good for Relaxing. Anyways..Troy is playing..yes i am on ! Sorry but as an European..i just love flutes or whatever he is playing. Violins are also cool. Coming from the Land of the real Mozart. What if Andrè Rieu would play with his Orchester and Nightwish..oh my Goodness..that would be something exciting.

They do have a new album and so nice music in there. It takes the listener into a different world. Yes...your analysis is correct as I can see...there are similarities to NW but still totally different. I think they all do equal roles in Auri. Johanna also writes music and plays violin too, Troy does everything and Tuomas is...well...genius.

I'm very happy that you're getting into Auri. If I understand it correctly, Troy and Johanna have a large part in creating the music and the lyrics, Tuomas doesn't play such a center role as he does in Nightwish. In fact, Auri was more or less started by the two, they made a song together a number of years ago (Aphrodite Rising, included in the album) and later decided they have to continue and include Tuomas. The second Auri album "Those We Don't Speak Of" will be released in just over a month, I have a copy on preorder. Just like NW though, usually the last Auri song I have listened to becomes my favorite. Picking one I like more than the others is very difficult. If I were to choose, I'd go with 2 of them: "Skeleton Tree" and "I Hope Your World Is Kind". That first of the 2 is mostly instrumental with some vocals, the second is however the one most connected out of the whole album, with the universe and character that inspired the name of the band (Auri from the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss).

You are finding Auri at the right time. New album out in September and the first song released from it is amazing (Pearl Diving). But you might want to try a couple more from their first album, so I'd suggest Desert Flower. Troy on vocals along with Johanna.

The whole album is such a great listening experience and I really love Troy's guitar playing. We know him for the Uilleann pipes and flutes etc but his guitar work is just great (I'd love him to work with Mike Oldfield- there are so many similarities musically for me). And, as so many others have said, the latest song 'Pearl Diving' is simply divine.... don't leave it too long to hear that one ;) Have a most excellent day everyone.

The female singer's Voice is very light and airy. Not bad.. but enough Oomph💥 for me. Nice song though.
