Lisa please try Fulton hot dog king in Brooklyn. It’s popular & I’m surprised no one has mentioned it! My favorite is the hot sausage with everything on it.

This is strangely comforting to watch, I worked at a cafe last summer and our most popular menu item was hot dogs…my boss made hot dogs a way I had never seen before. She cut slits in them vertically and she made these things called Italian onions. Turns out she grew up in New Jersey/New York and her parents owned a hot dog place and that’s how she had hot dogs perfected, we are in the south so I had never seen or tasted such a wonderful hot dog. The cafe is closed now and so this just reminds me of that time❤

It's more orange but it's literally Sabrett brand Sweet Onions. I would get it at the supermarket sometimes. Tastes pretty good on a burger

I gotta recommend Eddie's cart behind Penn Station, now on the corner of 9th and 33rd. Been there for 35 years I think? $3 dogs or 2 for $5 and the guy himself is a landmark in the area (for me at least) Billy's off central park west and 93rd is great as well

Man looks like there’s a lot of variations of hot dogs that are “New York” style lol. Chicago style hotdog has mustard, white onion, relish, and sport peppers. Ketchup is a no, but I do it here and there lol. The 2nd most wanted variation has a poppy seed bun, tomato, and a dill pickle. If you’re ever in town definitely check out Gene and Jude’s in Des Plaines, Portillo’s, or Devil Dawgs.

Lisa, next time you're in NYC go to Coney Island and try Nathan's famous hot dogs.

Hot dogs in La are bacon wrapped and come with grilled vegetables for $6 but totally worth it everytime

Now you have to go to Nathan's in coney island brooklyn original classic hot dogs!

I think most I paid for was a gourmet dog just outside of Downtown Seattle $9 and it was basically a ripper dog with shoestring fries, jalapenos, sour cream and diced tomatoes. Was good but I'll never spend that much again for 1 dog lol.

For me Costco does the best hot dogs here in the UK, although I ask for no onions and bring mine home and add crispy brown onions, relish, mustard and ketchup and IKEA comes second.

$9 for a hot dog? You got tourist scammed. By law all carts are supposed to show the prices for food on them. A lot of them do not and make up prices as they go. If they think you'll pay $9 then they'll ask for $9. There were plenty of times I asked someone at a cart how much something was, they gave an outrageous price, I said no, and then they immediately lowered it. Always ask first and if it sounds like too much just walk away.
