Awesome recipe! I couldn't find Worcestershire sauce and replaced it with a mix of Soy sauce and Tabasco, it worked wonderfully! The cooking time was correct. The condiment I used was Mayo and Mustard but I also tried it with BBQ sauce and it was lovely! Thank you!

@thedoomclock Because of the way their root words are pronounced. Hamburger originates from Hamburg, with a hard "g". Manager comes from "manage", with a soft "g" or "j" sound. Hence when you add the "er" suffix to the word, you retain the "g" sound from the root word.

@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - In 1802, the Oxford English Dictionary defined Hamburg steak as salt beef. It had little resemblance to the hamburger we know today. It was a hard slab of salted minced beef, often slightly smoked, mixed with onions and breadcrumbs. The emphasis was more on durability than taste.

Very nice. I especially enjoyed reading the history lesson. True hamburger, in the modern sense, came after the invention of the meat grinder. I add a few flavorful ingredients to my burger mix and shape them with a five inch hamburger press to prevent "burger balls". Hope you'll take a look some time. Summer is hamburger season!

Thank you...recipe came out fantastic...Question though: I also added about a half a cup of flour which I thought would also act as a binding indgredient to the patties. Would this have a different flavor compared to the one you posted in here? Thanks!

@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - According to The Food of the Western World - An Encyclopedia of food from North American and Europe:They originated on the German Hamburg-Amerika line boats. There was at that time a famous Hamburg beef which was salted and sometimes slightly smoked. As it was hard, it was minced and sometimes stretched with soaked breadcrumbs and chopped onion. It was popular with the Jewish emigrants, who continued to make Hamburg steaks, as the patties were then called.

Hey Scott, thank you for sharing this recipe. Anyhow, I was partly correct on some of the ingredients, except the chili powder, and egg. I will try that. Speaking of hamburger, a chef I worked with showed me a very different ingredient to use in meatloaf. I have a video I made on here, where I show my recipe. I'm not all professional like you, lol, but it makes a fantastic loaf though. The ingredient that seems odd to use is oatmeal. Have you ever heard of this? I have the video on private, but

@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - not sure where you got your information, but here's a little information that may enlighten you: In the late eighteenth century, the largest ports in Europe were in Germany. Sailors who had visited the ports of Hamburg, Germany and New York, brought this food and term "Hamburg Steak" into popular usage. To attract German sailors, eating stands along the New York city harbor offered "steak cooked in the Hamburg style."

I had it public, but people were saying nasty things to me, because of how I look due to my illness that I have, and not that I care, but I just didn't feel like dealing with their negative energy. Plus it's not the most professional, as I don't have a separate movable web cam, and I had to show the end result in a second vid.
