    Excellent video! Would have assumed you had half a million subs based on the quality of this video. Picked up the AW3225QF and am loving it, blacks not quite as deep during the day indeed due to that polarization layer but it does not bother me. My first OLED in general.

    @jeffbourdelles5701 i disagree...had a 28" 4k monitor for a bit and there was a very noticeable difference from my 27" 1440. Switched back due to low frame rate so maybe not justifiable until the next generation or two of gpus when we can hit 240+ hz in 4k but it's defintely something I've been longing for since I got a taste of 4k at that size.

    I'm watching this review on my own AW2725DF which I got last Thursday here in the UK. It's a superb monitor, easily the best display I have ever owned, and a massive upgrade over my ASUS PG279Q monitor with its poor contrast, bad viewing angles and IPS glow. The Dell monitor isn't perfect though. I have noticed a lot of flickering with G-SYNC enabled (this display is compatible and works even though it is not certified by NVIDIA), mostly on static loading screens that are dark grey, but also on the desktop when the taskbar, windows or icons are visible. It's subtle on the desktop, not so much during loading screens, but it doesn't seem to be an issue in all the games I've tested so far, thankfully. So while it is what I would deem to be a weakness or flaw, it isn't a complete game breaker for me. The other gripe I have is that while HDR looks awesome on this monitor, the way it is handled in Windows is a pain, requiring me to enable it for games *before* you launch them and then disable it for the desktop. It's a shame it isn't automatic enabled and disabled like it is on PS5. Using Windows key + Alt + B to switch HDR on and off on the desktop is something I am becoming very used to. Not ideal but it's a workaround, I suppose.

    Also, just wanted to complete on the glossy panel. Coming from the matte coating on my previous ASUS PG279Q monitor, I do find the Dell screen far more reflective and I can see the light part of the window behind me (where I have blinds that are always shut and one curtain closed to reduce the lighting further) and my silhouette reflected during the day and during the night, obviously in a dark, room I see the PlayStation LED lights being reflected from the window sill at the rear of the room. Neither of these were issues with the ASUS monitor. It's not a major issue but this is definitely the most reflective monitor I've owned to date.

    @@stickboy8219 VRR flickering is an issue with OLED displays it seems due to the fluctuating voltages as the panel makes adjustments the refresh rate, which causes gamma shifts and a flickering effect. To be honest, I was aware of the issue as I'd seen on my PS5 when playing games at 120 Hz on my 2019 LG B9 OLED TV but I'd hoped that it wouldn't be an issue on a QD-OLED panel made in 2024. Not many reviews mention them but the forums are full of posts from people who have the issue and have tried to find some way to reduce or get rid of it completely. VRR flicker was definitely not an issue on my 27" ASUS PG279Q IPS monitor, which had a hardware G-SYNC module and no compatibility at all with AMD's Freesync.

  • @DoctorHades

    @DoctorHades

    @@stickboy8219 The flickering is caused by changes to the voltage of the panel as the screen adjusts the refresh rates which causes a gamma shift to the colour being displayed. It is worse with HDR but is still noticeable with SDR too in my experience. To be honest, I was aware of this issue on OLED TVs as I have seen it on my PS5 and Xbox Series X when playing games at 120 Hz on my 2019 LG B9 TV but I hoped that the issue would be fixed or lessened on a newer QD-OLED panel made in 2024. My previous 27" 165 Hz ASUS PG279Q IPS monitor, which came only with G-SYNC support via a hardware module, did not have this issue. Seems it is something that only affects OLED screens. It can be mitigated by the manufacturer by adjusting the gamma levels for the colours, I believe LG have done this for their newer TVs, but it looks like Dell haven't for theirs., perhaps because this is a Freesync certified monitor. This monitor works with G-SYNC but it is not currently certified as G-SYNC compatible by NVIDIA. Not sure if this makes any difference to the issue. I'm just reporting what I am seeing on my screen. It doesn't make me regret buying this screen as everything else about it makes up for what is minor flickering in game loading screens and a bit of flicker on the desktop, which to be honest I don't see very much anyway as I have the screen saver set to display a black screen after a minute and the Windows power plan set to put the monitor in standby after 2 minutes, obviously to prevent burn in risks.

    I'm glad they finally ditched the old stand they were using. There was zero reason for a 27 inch monitor to have a stand as huge and heavy as that one. The panel itself is amazing as expected, although I'm leaning more toward the MSI variant right now. If you haven't used QD-OLED before, it's pretty unreal, even in comparison to traditional WOLED. • @OC.TINYYY

    @OC.TINYYY

    3 ай бұрын

    Yeah, having owned QD OLED monitors (DWF). The blacks suffer a crap load in an average lit room compared to WOLED side by side. You essentially get VA black levels. People try to downplay it, but it's a big deal breaker for a lot. I think the worst part for Alienware QD OLEDS is your guaranteed micro scratches on the monitor right out of the box due to AW's packaging. LG already came out with a new/updated version of their 240z 1440p WOLED panel a couple weeks ago. The 27GS95QE (GR version used an older panel). Much better brightness in larger window sizes & blacks than this QD OLED. If you don't want to wait for the 480hz version (kind of pointless imo lol). It is currently the brightest 1440P oled on the market.
