she's so eloquent and grace-full
Great editing on these clips Alicia Keys is so right about the illusions
if you watch the actors roundtables and the musicians roundtables back to back I always find the actors to be more practical or sometimes even academic about their work... and the musicians to me always seem almost spiritual. Not to demean any one of them. I just noticed that I always have this impression

CarAccident I think that's because with acting they are taught. Song writing comes from a feeling.

Musicians are artists. They live with poetry, and a different type of philosophy where it is about being you going to the world. Actors are on the other side working for the public in a really sensitive way. You are right and doesn't demean anyone

but I think acting has just as much to do with emotions and is just as creative... however you are right Rabbi M, making music can be much more personal. Actors always interpret other people's words

CarAccident because they're composers, u should compare them with directors or producers not actors
As a songwriter and a singer i feel like I'm more in touch with my emotions and expressing them than I'd ever have been able to be without that outlet. Thanks you guys for speaking about what that's like for you.
I need Alicia to let us know what skin products she be using because god damn her skin is flawless!!!
Alicia has a beautiful smile, and she makes people smile.
She is stunning, i love that she does not edit herself and she speaks from her core
i love Alicia, but it's super easy to say make up is a fake when ur that beautiful without it

yeh i think the more important conversation is a lot deeper a lot more complicated a lot more interesting than make up no make up. Our ideas of beauty where they came from and why we believe them that is the crux of it. For instance women didnt shave thier legs until pantyhose wanted to sell their product so all of a sudden it became un becoming for a woman to have hair on her legs because a company wanted to make a lot of money. Now men and women are taught to think it unattractive when they wouldnt of even questioned it. If i looked like Alicia Keys my god i would take a lot less time to get ready and i probably would hardly ever wear make up because look at her. it doesnt matter how much make up i wear i wont look nearly as beautiful as her without make up so i would be pretty ok with never wearing make up with an alicia keys face. the point is our face portray more than beauty and that stuff is what defines our beauty.

Leah Canlas Indeed. I do not wear makeup and I am long over 50, long passed the age were all your STUFF shows. I have never worn makeup because it always felt pretentious. People used to say that I was "lucky" because I was beautiful without makeup. Lucky was and is not it. Attitude is. Being comfortable in my own skin is it. Confidence is it. Also, a healthy diet and lifestyle will make a woman more beautiful 24/7 than any makeup. I have been a Vegan 35 years and this has excluded consuming, most often: fried foods, processed sugar, and other non-food items masquerading as food and destroying our natural beauty. Good health and grace are all the makeup I need to glow. And, yes, it HELPS that my parents passed some "good" physical characteristics on to me, but good characteristics are still a matter of what "I" think are beautiful. Mostly, my parents passed on to me beauty from the inside that presents itself to the world as natural beauty. Gee, when did being ourselves become so outrageous and so forgotten that it needs to be on the news, a talk show, the radio, or a magazine cover?

Greyfoxdbz18 That is because society has brainwashed you and society to believe that a painted face is more beautiful than the one we were born with.
That is a cool roundtable. Would love to be there.
I can't wait to watch this. I love Tori Amos and Alicia Keys. I always wanted them to meet. I'm also a huge fan of Sting and Pharrell too. This should be interesting. =)
Well someone tell her that if everyone had her perfect face and hair no one would ever worry about things like makeup
Hey video editor: at 2:38 it looks like source video completely ungraded got into the final cut.
She reminds me so much of Scarlet Jo. Could be her half sister.
I love her.

Because musicians, songwriters don't really do interviews, it's the actors who are used to that. Most composers don't really discuss much about their music, for them, it is what it is. This is like asking a painter to explain his painting, how did he do it, what inspired him to do it and most of them won't explain, coz they've already expressed it through their work.

Pharrell doesn't look "happy" at all. Maybe he stayed up all night to get lucky, and he's tired or maybe he drank a little too much, he's probably seeing some blurred lines.
If you let your skin breathe, get a tan and put some avocado on your eye brows, you would have natural makeup.
where is pharrell. it's like he's over the whole thing
She's so beautiful, i want to touch her shiny glowing pretty face
She is so gorgeous, but so annoying at the same time.
everybody so bored
