Right now I'm going through the HARDEST battle i'll ever face in life and once again your song was made at the exact time i needed to hear it and i don't know how old you are but I'm 34 and i think we're close in age but i also think we've felt the same things at the same times in our lives in our journey through womanhood and i need to thank you for putting into your music. I'VE always known the songs that were of YOU even before your freedom cd, and it was those songs that reached my soul. You've always been my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE artist hands down and your music has helped me more than you'll ever know. I don't agree with any of your politics, but i do NOT NOT NOT care, that has NO BEARING on your ability as an artist, God put you here to make that music to help people hold on, sometimes i believe strongly your music has saved many lives, when somebody is on the edge, i am certain your music has helped them take a breath and stopped them from letting go.. Just heard this song on Queen of Katwe wow such a beautiful song by Alicia. Not long ago I thought I understood what it means to believe until I realised how broken I was and the world we know is not very different, the brokeness is there, you can see it and feel it. Don't know why but this song reminds me of "The Life" from Alicia's "Songs In A Minor album". "The Life" has always been one of my favorite songs ever. I think it's one of the over looked best songs on the album. I loved this new song the first time I heard it and it continues to grow on me.

@@anitabreakone One thing I noticed in the verse is that she uses the same bass line and rhythm that's used in "Secrets". The chorus changes, but I like the reinterpretation of previous works in this case. Not everyone does this well.
