Alex Rudinger - Intronaut - "Cubensis"

If you've yet to hear it, "Cubensis" was the first single from the upcoming Intronaut album that I tracked drums for, entitled 'Fluid Existential Inversions'. Pre-Orders are available now via Metalblade records (link below!), & the single is available on all streaming platforms!

I'm incredibly proud of this album & can't wait for everyone to hear the rest of it. Truth be told, I think it's the coolest thing I've been a part of to date. Writing & learning the parts challenged me in ways I hadn't been challenged before (there's some truly whacky stuff on this album!), & working alongside Sacha, David, & Joe was a real pleasure. "Cubensis" was one of the first tracks I wrote for, & is certainly one of my personal favorites.
I tracked the album in L.A. with Josh Newell, & the album mix was done by Kurt Ballou. I didn't track any full drum videos in the studio - we had 3 days to track 10 of the most difficult songs I had ever learned, so my main focus was on getting those done well, & I didn't want to add in the variable of trying to film any of it. Upon returning home, I tracked a few of the songs again while the material was still fresh to make some drum play-through's. So this is not the album take (or mix, or even the same studio. Lol, this is just my basement), but I played it pretty note-for-note to what made it on the album.

This album has an absolutely perfect mix. Especially the drums. Really satisfies my ears so much.

It’s just too much to see how far you’ve come since starting this channel. Every video impresses us more than the last and it’s like there’s literally nowhere but up from here. Haha. I’m flipping glad you got the call for this record cause Intronaut needed something to top that last album and dude, you did not disappoint.

Your ability to play off of the kick drum head when playing this style of music is impressive as hell. I find it so difficult to maintain consistent rebound strokes when doing more fast/complex stuff, I always tend to bury some of them. I am learning that a lot of it has to do with grounding yourself and maintaining your center of gravity via your torso and not becoming wobbly when you use your kick, if that makes sense. So that you are able to "run" on the pedals and maintain rebound strokes while not jeopardizing balance. Something I am continuing to work on. You are inspirational as hell, man. Always have been. Keep up the great work.

Absolutely, something I've always struggled with, definitely lack of core strength and stability for me. Leaning over and digging too much to maintain balance...

@@limp144 Agreed! Ergonomics play such an underrated role in it all. You've gotta position yourself for ease and comfort as well as (like you said) be able to maintain your core and not rely too heavily on gravity and leaning into anything. A daily practice haha. Keep groovin, brother! 🤙🏼🤘🏻

You'll find if you raise your throne higher it will be easier to keep your balance. It is very uncomfortable at first but you'll get used to it.
Love the technical Aspects Played On Every Song....Alex Rudinger You Have A Gift Of The Sickness On The Drums..! Just WOW Dude..!!
While Danny’s style of groove made him the perfect fit for this band, I couldn’t imagine anyone else I’d rather see behind the kit for future efforts than yourself.

It was quite the opposite, he was several times proven innocent as far as I'm concerned. I have the same feelings towards Alex going in the band tho, good for him, and he fits perfectly in there. I do think Danny got an unfair treatment too.

Holy Hell... never listened to Intronaut before, but I think it's time I started! What an interesting and awesome song. The drums on this sound terribly challenging and FUN!

Masterful technician, complex drumming at it's finest, Alex always raises the bar!
Filling Walker's shoes had to be one of the most challenging thing a drummer can do but you nailed it and added your signature style. Classic Intronaut sound and I am so excited to hear the full thing! Superb job dude!
