I love how the focus is winning championships. He says it multiple times… some guys are scared to put that weight on their shoulders but he’s ready for the challenge. As a fan, that’s all I can ask for. Your best shot.

I’m an Aggie, but man what an honor, and what a time in college football history. I want Alabama to remain a competing team for the championship because it just feels right. I’m only 23 so Nick Saban was always a coach I hated, and loved at the same time, but ALWAYS respected. Kalen deboer is a great coach and I wish him and Alabama the best. Roll tide AND Gigem Aggies!

I'm an Oregon fan so I'm torn on this. Glad he's gone from the Huskies because Deboer has beat us 3 times in a row by 3 points. But I see Oregon facing Bama in the playoffs so he's not completely gone lol. Good hire he's a great coach. Respect.

I hate this comment. I’m an Oregon fan and I wanted DeBoer to stay and compete against Lanning year after year. Lanning is building the long haul at Oregon, DeBoer is a stud and I wish he was still with the Huskies. DeBoer and Lanning were going to have a great rivalry that was really getting hot

Just devastated he left the Huskies. I really felt like Lanning and DeBoer were setting up to have a great rivalry, now just back to mediocrity for a while I guess. You guys got a great coach in Oregon, really was hoping for the same commitment to UW from Kalen, but understand the Alabama is a different tier of program than UW.

Congratulations to Alabama! I am an Ohio State Buckeyes fan for life. I am proud of the traditions and legacies our previous head coaches have done for the players and the football programs. We have been one of the most respected and consistent teams in the country because of them in large part. I am glad to see Alabama has a very good new head coach taking over a great football coach in history. I think they are both great persons who care deeply for their families and their teams. They are absolutely winners in life. I also appreciate the fact that the new coach allows the previous head coach full access to the program in every aspect and showed his willingness to learn from his predecessor. That’s a very wise thing to do. In business, I have had to deal with key positions transition processes many times. I found it to be absolutely beneficial to allow for this kind of smooth process that almost always lead to successful results! I wish nothing but the best for Kalen DeBoer and his family. I also hope that Nick Saban and his wife Terry would enjoy their twilight years with happiness and fulfillment. God bless you! Lastly, I want to see the football programs at both Ohio State and Alabama be successful and honorable as they have been over through all the years in the past.

As a Michigan fan I congratulate Alabama on a great decision hiring this coach. He is a classy guy and I just like the way he carries himself. If Harbaugh was leaving I actually hoped Michigan would hire him. Nothing but respect.

I grew up in Northern Illinois I'm old school 70s kid always had great respect for my strong industrial neighbors in Michigan. They've had enough heartbreak their hockey is extremely talented many prayers are often overlooked. I'm supercharged for The Blue's old school hard nosed football and WIN

Roll Tide Coach DeBoer! I personally feel that he has set the right tone thus far and is a great fit. In that brief speech he was able to effectively express what type of man and Coach that he is and you can tell that he is feeling the energy from that institution that I am familiar as well. He said that last nights welcoming at the airport was almost overwhelming. Again, I feel he touched on all of the right issues and with the right tone. I’m glad Coach Saban and Mrs. Saban will be there to assist with the transition and to help him learn the Crimson Tide culture. I feel Coach Saban will do everything possible to assist. Coach Saban definitely wants Alabama to continue the path of success. Lastly, if you are NOT an Alabama Crimson Tide supporter,…why are you here? Welcome to the SEC Boomer!! One of my favorite memories is a bunch of us piled up into a very small living room in Tulsa, watching the game between Alabama and Oklahoma (2003/2004?). As sad as I was for Alabama to lose, being the only Bama fan in the room, it was really a fun afternoon with friends and food. Looking forward to seeing how well y'all do here. I believe that y'all will make the SEC stronger!

Definitely, Oklahoma is one of the programs on the same level as an Alabama. I watched Jalen Hurts weekly when he transferred to the Sooners. We had some epic games in the past and there will be alot more now that you guys coming to the SEC. Oklahoma and Texas coming to the SEC has got me the most excited I’ve been in years for some college football. I know we gonna win some and we will lose some but it’s gonna be a fun ride. Before I even continue with the video. I would like to say that I am moved to tears by how successfully and gracefully coach Saban and the University of Alabama have entered this transition and have succeeded in making it not a devastating blow that the rest of the college football world would for see it as, but a move and transition that will make the program stronger in the long run just as Mal Moore did when he hired coach Saban in the first place! And then, coach Saban in turn sets us up for the future in such a way that I am nothing but excited about tomorrow and the next day, and the next day for Alabama football!!! Roll Tide!! I would be remiss without thanking athletic director Greg Byrne for making the executive decision necessary to make all of this happen! 👍👍👍

Hoping they don't rise quite as high with the new hire. At least that's how most of the country sees it. You've gotten your SIX and that's after another coach got you SIX once before. So it's time for some new teams. Time for you to watch on the couch like most of us have had to do for some time. Nothing wrong with some 8-4, 9-3 finishes on an annual basis. I'm not sure it will ever be possible to replicate what Coach Saban and Coach Bryant did given the current system. I will say though......I like what I've seen out of Coach Deboer with how he's in tune with the current model if CFB. He understands how touse the portal and NIL, and he clearly a great developer of talent

Roll Tide! I am a little disappointed in my favorite coach leaving (retiring) Bama, but I understand. But, I am looking forward to Coach Kalen's doing what he's done for several years. He is also a winner and I believe he will continue winning at Alabama...

Michigan fan, This was a great hire for Bama. This guy wins everywhere he goes,, and I would expect him to continue there. New area in Collage Football and I am excited. Go Blue.

I am so happy for Coach DeBoer. He was a big part of IU's offense, and Michael Penix Jr. and then an awesome HC at Washington and again with Penix. Y'all have a great HC. He is humble, down to earth, and will tell you like it is. I will continue to be a big Hoosier fan, but y'all have a fan who is jumping aboard the Alabama wagon and hope y'all have room. 😊❤

Not an Alabama fan at all, I bleed purple and gold but I can not get over Saban leaving, hurts me because he was an incredible coach and I loved watching my tigers play against him every year! Super happy for Kalon and the crimson tide! Football is going to be different next season!

I’m a Bama fan but also just a college football fan I love seeing teams get programs better and I keep up with as many as I can I have no rivalry against any 😊 I just love seeing teams get better that’s college football to me 🏈👍

Every school in the SEC is laughing at this hire. Most people had no idea who this person even was. Every school in the SEC sees Alabama as vulnerable now, so you know for sure that in 2024, they’re all going to give Alabama their all!! Roll tears Roll!!😂😂

This feels like a Wallace Wade/Frank Thomas cycle to me. I'm sure Tide fans in the 30's felt we might fall off when Wade left for Duke in 1931. And Bama hired another great coach who also won at an 80% clip or better (the fifth in Tide history to do so). I feel Deboer might surprise people more than disappoint. He's won a lot of big games with less than stellar talent. I understand Washington only had fifteen 4 stars and zero 5 stars on this year's roster. Pretty impressive to go 25-3 there in the past couple of years.

Yeah but he in the Sec west now. Big big difference. It's like LeBron going to the playoffs every year and getting bounced in the west. Hope he does great bc I'm a diehard tide fan but Saban is the goat and anything else is a downgrade

@@FelixRamirez-dc5mh Before Saban came to Lsu he was in same boat as Kalen. As was Meyers. He has Saban to mentor him and offer advice. All left to do is see if he can recruit and use portal if needed. He has shown he is not afraid to use the portal

This man is a genius on so many levels including knowing how to recruit and coach ELITE QBs and WRs. Bama just got deadly.

Alabama has ALWAYS been a strong football program. There is no doubt that he's got a tough act to follow. Being the Head Coach after someone like Nick Saban is going to be tougher than he knows. The Boosters & Alumni come down hard when there is even one loss. I'm HOPING THAT HE LIVES UP to be as great as he can be. If he can even come close to being as good as Saban then Bama will be fine!!! Good luck Coach Deboer!! Roll Tide Roll

No doubt! They were even second guessing Saban for choosing Milroe as the #1 QB after that home loss to Texas! And although I trusted Saban's judgement A LOT OF FANS were pissed that we lost by 10 points AT HOME TOO!!! And even though I knew that might happen knowing it was early in the season and that things weren't going well. But IMHO if the defense had played better we would have won that game. But there is also something to be said about controlling the ball long enough that the other team has little time with the football to make points. And that in itself gives the defense a break. The longer the D is on the field the more they have a chance to mess up. EDIT: I do seriously hope that Coach Deboer can RECRUIT & COACH as good as he did in Washington. I hope that he ALSO realizes how hard it is to win in the SEC every week. THE ALABAMA STANDARD itself will help in recruiting HOWEVER, him being new to Alabama he's gonna have to convince recruits to 1) To decide NOT to flip to any of the other great SEC teams! LSU, Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Ole Miss & NOW Texas & Oklahoma AND 2) Convince new & existing recruits that The Alabama program is & will continue to be at the top of the SEC & College Football & the best chance they have at being a high draft pick for the NFL. -AND 3) No matter whether a guy is a 3☆ or a 5☆ recruit that his coaching abilities turn every player into a 5☆ player. Cuz ultimately, what a guy accomplished or didn't in high school doesn't necessarily represent what he can accomplish in college football with the right coaching & team mates. Cuz his accomplishments in high school could have easily been influenced by the team he was a part of. ie: a good or bad offensive line can make a guy look good or bad whether he's a QB or a running back. And receivers & defenders, the competition they face is more telling about success & failure. And 4) he also must surround himself with other HIGH CALIBER Coaches cuz at the end of the day he can't do it all, & the rest of the coaching staff play a huge roll in what the team learns & how the team prepares for every game. And to be honest- I was not particularly impressed by the speech Coach Deboer gave at being introduced as Alabama's New Head Coach. When Saban was introduced in 2007 I was very impressed by his speech. I'm hoping & praying that he is better at coaching than he is at preparing a speech!!! THE 3RD GAME OF THE SEASON WE PLAY GEORGIA AT HOME. THAT GAME FOR Coach Deboer's sake I REALLY HOPE THAT GAME IS A WIN!!!! Roll Tide Roll

@@Subdood04 Yes, he was an after thought. Touche'. But in my mind it's difficult to even count Mike Shula as an Alabama Coach! That was just a horrendous mistake from day one!!! At the time he was made Coach also I had just moved to Virginia/DC area, met a wonderful lady had a daughter with her & started a new job with a company that I continued to work with for the next 10 years. So at that time I was VERY DISTRACTED to say the least. I sure did hear about it ALL FROM MY FATHER though!!

Aftee hearing this and sabans interview this whole thing feels just right. Wouldnt trade this man for kirby smart or anyone at this moment he deserves this opportunity. Has all the right thinking to do the impossible and replace the legend.

Good for him.....I think it's a great fit! I live in Seattle and (but a Michigan fan) it was a little weird when the news of the day was Kalen not showing up for a meeting cause he went to Alabama

As a UW fan, I’m disappointed, but don’t blame him. If I was offered a job with better pay and resources, I’d take it. I, and I hope other UW fans, focus disappointment on our university and athletic department for not wanting to step up and evolve into a more powerful program. Good luck, coach.
