"Go" is used at Lufthansa as per company policy instead of the "V1" callout. The word "go" is used to reinforce the commitment to taking off beyond V1. It is thought that "go" is psychologically stronger than "V1", which is a dispassionate word. It is very important to ingrain in the fibre of every airline pilot to continue the takeoff after V1 no matter what. The emotional temptation to abort if an incident occurs after V1 is strong and must be resisted. Hence the more emotive word "Go!".

The yoke is not in use until after V1. The second hand is removed from the thrust levers after V1.

100 knots is announced to get the pilots to check and make sure that both their instrument displays are showing correctly, if not then takeoff is aborted. Many other airlines call it out at 80 knots instead. Side stick allows more space for the pilot to do other things but it lacks feedback. The Boeing yoke for example has a stick shaker feature, where if the plane stalls, the yoke shakes violently to notify the pilot.

@inacio1barsa The normal precedure is not 15°, that is just an approximate value. This value varies depending on the Takeoff Weight of the aircraft. It can be more or even less. Normally, after departure the standard procedure is to maintain V2 + 10.

Is it a disadvantage to have the stick on the side vs the yoke on the boeing?

@granzukakoko of course autopilot is OFF before takeoff, but usually before T/O CLB and NAV modes are armed. Why arent they armed here? This is nothing got to do with lufthansa or aeroflot.

In several of these takeoff and landing videos I noticed a nasty drumbeat of the nosegear when the nose is exactly on the center line. Couldn't those reflectors have been more flush to the runway surface?

well even in an aircraft like a boeing you are still usually flying it with one hand on the yoke as the other hand is on the throttles, also the side stick is very accurate compared to a conventional yoke. :)

I'm pretty sure it is to check whether both airspeed indicators are functioning correctly (both the captain and the first officer have one).

  • @Skyflyerification

@mboy3515 Believe me it's quite tricky but as the captain was once an FO and therefore has "right-hand" experience, he already has a feeling for the aircraft.

  • @FinFlight1

@juanjillocr In case of engine failure after V1 speed the takeoff will be performed normally. But if engine failure happens before V1 the takeoff will be rejected. So the V1 speed tells the pilots if something happens before V1 there is still enough runway to stop the aircraft safely.

@4rlorenti The pilots are still controlling the jet, this is one thing people can't seem to understand. Yes, the autopilot can handle the flying of the aircraft but the pilots conduct the flight and tell the autopilot what to do while talking to ATC and configuring the systems and control surfaces.
