We start the clocks when we are taking off for an oceanic crossing incase you loose nav your math is taken care of for waypoint crossings/position reports, this is out of our TOE guide "Start clocks just before advancing power (if desired...technique only)" Some old-timer started this technique a 100 years ago and everybody just does it. Theres ten ways of doing everything. one way could be to start your clock over your first coast out entry but I would probably forget so... "clocks".

as far as i know the third pilot is the SFO - he will take over the captain seat on cruise above a certain flight level, so the captain can relax. This is normal on nearly all long range flights.

Do you mean in the bottom left hand corner? That's the chronometer (stopwatch). They start that when the engines are set to take-off power at the beginning of takeoff. The reason for this is that there is a limitation on the time you can use TOGA (max power) - 10 minutes for single engine and 5 minutes for both engines operating. The crew can get the flight time and brake off/brakes on time from the FMGS.
@ucoksumbara182911 жыл бұрын
okay.. thank you very much for you information.. :D

Is that runway 22R?
@jghagemann12 жыл бұрын
at that time you can see a piece of information pop up on the Navigation display when he pushes that button, later on, if you pause at 5:18 you can see that that´s the chronometer which is at the 1min20sec mark. the TOGA is a position down in the thrust levers. Why they push chrono at takeoff I do not know, but I can ask around at my flight school =)

@Rucra1 What ever it is, its great!(The ones in this video)
@mgardiner272513 жыл бұрын
@Bango61 Nothing wrong with that. ATC will in many situations grant the 250 limit to be exceeded. It would happen during areas of low traffic, and where it helps the controller control the traffic flow more easily.
@ComedicInstincts12 жыл бұрын

@Jonte7RM Ok i see. But i find it strange because pilots are trained to fly in clouds and all they have to do is follow the FD plus fly-by-wire makes it easier so i dont why they need AP with all that help. Yeah i guess airline policy makes a difference, if thats what you meant.
