An animatronic being made doesnt mean its always being used. There are deffinitely cgi shots of it too (ex.23:40), just like Grogu

@@drewwar9344 Its not used sparingly or to enhance certain parts. Quit parroting the same ignorant bs. Ahsoka is shot using Stagecraft. The vast majority of what you see on screen is cgi. You've only convinced yourself it's not, because they showed some animatronics, which are the ones used sparingly actualy, due to their limitations. They've been doing that since TFA (90+% of BB8s shots were cgi, but many bought into the "practical fx" bs just because they saw him rolling on stage for a few minutes - while at the same time not noticing he was absent or just a placeholder in most of the behind the scenes footage).

My favourite thing about Ray Stevenson/Baylan in this role is that he's like Vader-sized... but that's no stuntman or padded suit, man's literally just built like that RIP you legend

He really gives experienced older knight with a longsword vibes. Like a counterpart to Dooku. With brutal efficiency instead of finesse but equally skilled.

I didn't even realize how deep that quote goes until you mentioned that. It's a clear reference to her reasons for leaving the order and how Anakin felt after. Like @collecter343 already said, she blames herself for what Anakin became. That just made that scene even more sad.

I love how Baylan is built like a linebacker. His whole silhouette took up the entire hallway and gives him such an imposing figure. It’s such a shame Ray Stevenson died, but I just know he’s going to make this role absolutely incredible.

Sabine was born to a Mandalorian family. If she was force sensitive as a child she wouldn't have been on the Jedi lists. Luke didn't know he was force sensitive until he was 19 and Leia didn't know until she was 23.

In Luke's and Leia's case though they were born in a time where being force sensitive was extremely dangerous and the Order didn't exist anymore so of course they wouldn't know unless they did something extremely obvious and even then knowledge of force was highly regulated and unknown to a lot of people unless they remembered the Jedi and even then unless they had met a Jedi before, they might dismiss the Jedi as a whole since the majority of people in the galaxy wouldn't have ever met a Jedi. So anyway most people nowadays wouldn't even know that the force exists or what it is since pretty much every force religion and culture had been hunted down and destroyed as well as the records these groups including the Jedi.

@@gregoryschweitzer1735Sabine was 2 years old on Empire Day so the same rules around Luke and Leia apply to Sabine. Sabine doesn't have much "Aptitude" which means she does have force sensitivity but not natural talent which makes sense. Sabine was born into an old Mando family that hates Jedi. Any early signs would have been dismissed, discouraged and never talked about.

Ahsoka is like the Forrest Gump of Star Wars. She's met a lot of important people, and has been in the proximity of important events.

These first two episodes had a lot to unpack. Overall I'd say it's going to be an absolute banger of a show. RIP Ray!

As for Sabine's demenor: Think about what she's gone through, losing Ezra & Ahsoka abandoning her. It all hurts her ego, she's on lothal alone without Hera or Zeb. The minute someone asks her for help, she messes up. It's only natural.

Been waiting for your reaction to drop. It always makes me smh how Kyle can instantly identify all these ships and weapons. Props to the makeup and costume department. They've made noticeable improvements to Ahsoka's lekku to make them look more natural. It's something I can't help noticing when I reewatch her debut in Mandalorian. "Made of Uncle Owen."🤣

I absolutely LOVE Ashoka's mannerisms in this. The head tilt's and expressions when someone annoys or surprises her just convey so much.

He didn't mean that there is something special about the hilt. He meant the combination of parts is unique. Imagine how many Jedi he has seen in those centuries...there must've been a couple with Hilts that matched each other.

Huayang has been active for at least 1000 years and he said he hasnt seen a saber like Baylins in 500 years so its probably just an older style of saber and as far as they know he is human so he cant be from back then

This first episode was so good! The new characters, the familiar characters, the Ryder Azadi & Jai Kell cameos, Ahsoka using Force Echoes, the incredible musical scores, & lightsaber combat. Its crazy to me how much it felt like I was watching Clone Wars, Rebels, & a live action movie all in 1 episode.

So glad they dropped not 1, but 2 episodes when the series premiered. Much respect for them paying tribute to Ray Stevenson, may he RIP. btw, I also noticed that Sabine was listening to Huttese rock. However I also think that the singer was none other than Sy Snootles and her band, last scene at Jabba's palace in ROTJ.

I love how Baylan has a Qui-Gon-esc accent in that first scene.

Based on the line Sabine says to Ahsoka that’s doesn’t always go where she’s needed, I theorize that Ahsoka didn’t go help Mandalore during the Great Purge even with Sabine asking her to. And that’s a point of conflict between them.

I love how the young reactors see everything as game play. And a person in my age group (Boomer) see this as normal writing.

I really like how the blaster sound the HK droids use sounds so much like some blasters in SWTOR.

Well, they always said Lothal was like Alabama but in Space.

She absolutely looks like a Nightsister. Her costume and her complexion are very similar to Merrin in Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor.

I think that the cinematography and visual style of this show would work really well if anyone ever decides to do a live-action "Samurai Jack."

LETS KRIFFING GO!!!!!!! Kyle and Bendu are one of the best Star Wars yotubers to rely on for a new show, so is Blind Wave and so many others. The two episode premiere is everything I've ever wanted for a Rebels S5, and its peak tv from those two episodes alone. WHOOO!!!!!! The Loth Cat being practical made me want to get merch of them.

Qui-Gon got stabbed right in the mittle of his chest through his spine, which would be enough to kill him. The youngling got stabbed on the side of her stomach 'twice', which isn't fatal because she didn't bleed out, you can bleed out if the wound isn't hot, when it is, the wound is sealed and won't bleed. Grand Inquisitor also got stabbed on the side of his stomach, which again isn't so fatal and now Sabine also got stabbed on the side of her stomach. This is why those character didn't die from the stabbing before.

Bleeding is less of a danger with the self-cauterising nature of a lightsaber, but infection is still gonna be fast and deadly if you don't get immediate medical attention. Plus, the shock and pain could give an older or sick victim a lethal heart attack. On top of that - and I may be wrong here - my memory is Qui-Gon got impaled dead-centre-mass, which would have wrecked his heart and/or aorta and his spine.

If I recall correctly, there was a brief arc in Rebelswhere Sabine had possession of the Darksaber. Kansan tried to train her to wield it but was unsuccessful. Ahsoka took over Sabine’s training until Sabine handed the Darksaber over to Bo since Sabine didn’t want to be ruler of Mandalore. It’s also possible that, due to the time gap between the Battle of Lothal and the final scene in Rebels (recreated at the end of Ep. 2 of Ahsoka, with a minor retcon of Ahsoka’s attire), Sabine spent some time as Ahsoka’s padawan using Ezra’s (now modified) lightsaber. Perhaps these questions will be answered in later episodes.

It's been few years since rebel. They can interact there. They also can show us with a flashback

I think with Sabine getting pierced by a lightsaber the circumstances allowed her to survive. While she was stabbed I think they clearly showed it was to her side and not through her spine. Also as the lightsaber is a controlled beam of superheated energy it would have cauterized her wound so she would not bleed out. With Ahsoka and her ship so close it was easy to get her to a medical center.

they should train their padavans to move that beam to the side after stabbing to cut the opponent in half, job done. do the funny capes give them more freedom to move, or why they have to wear that usless piece of cloth ? even their robots wear rotten capes

@@guruware8612 Sounds like you're just being petty but I will bite. Capes are most of the time symbolic. Only advantage they have really is being an extra layer in the cold or trying to hide (in societies that wear capes). And unlike Marroks it doesn't look like it comes off easily. Would be dumb if she expected Sabine to wait while she took it off.

Im also pretty sure the intention never was to actually kill Sabine. Just like it seemed like they wanted to avoid killing everyone on the ship by pretending to be jedi and only did it once that didnt work. Especially with what Baylin said about potentially having to kill Ahsoka I feel like that makes sense.

@@Mikemic2218 Applying that much logic and science to this type of sci-fi and fantasy is a dumb road to go down in the first place. Applying that type of logic, lightsabers shouldn't exist because lasers don't suddenly stop like they do. The "your insides and organs are cooked" argument has never effect anything before so why start now? And actually lore wise it makes sense lightsabers shouldn't kill people. Jedi intentions aren't to kill people. So they should use a weapon that actually has a high survival rate. Which because of cauterising they do.

I think those HK droids were equipped with proton warheads, the same explosives used in Thrawn’s infiltrator droids.

The explosions from the HKs reminded me heavily of the Defoliator weapons. Could've been inspired by that tech or the thermal annihilator

I just realized the Cliffhanger doesn't cliff hang the cliff hanging rock climber if it's a two-part back-to-back bingeable episode

What I love about that lightsabre clash at the end is that even after being stabbed, Sabine just kept on swinging!! I came for Ashoka, but I’m staying for Sabine. She’s great so far.

I don't know how everyone keeps missing this but, since I value both of your opinions, here's my theory... the rift between Ahsoka & Sabine may have something to do with the "glassing" of Mandalore.

I like how Kyle casually brushed off any danger in that last fight and then the surprise hit him.

It’s like gunshots. They can be absolutely immediately fatal in some instances yet perfectly treatable with fast medical attention and depending on the exact location.

Ahsoka is my favorite character. The thing I need to see Rosario nail is an emotional Ahsoka. So far she’s been very stoic, which is how she is most of the time at this age, but to truly connect older Ahsoka with younger Ahsoka I need to see her get emotional like she used to.

I knew Kyle would catch Senator Jai Kell’s cameo very few who’ve reacted to rebels included him in it haha

13:54 this is supposed to be 5-6 years after the Rebels finale. 21:59 don’t forget about Tarre Vizsla he was a Mandalorian & a Jedi so she might be force sensitive just not as powerful as most force users. 27:10 it was shooting all her computers so that any data she recorded was destroyed. 28:06 Dave Filoni decided to have it orange so that it wasn’t dark side and wasn’t light side. He felt it would leave it up to the viewer to decide where the allegiance of the person lies. He remembered growing up seeing Vaders saber look orange sometimes and red other times. 29:35 remember that Reva and the Grand inquisitor both survived stabs to the gut.

Hehe also, the star map reminded me so much of Treasure Planet. I really really hope that’s where they got the inspiration from ✨

Shin Hati is definitely a new favorite character of mine. My problem with some of the darksiders that we’ve seen in Rebels and Kenobi was that they talked way too much. For me, Shin is like the classic darksider from the Old Republic. She doesn’t speak much at all, is constantly eyeing everyone and suspicious of those that are not in the same allegiance as her, brutal in her fighting style and obeys her master without hesitation.

I saw somewhere else, some referred to Shin Hati as "feral", and I think that's the best way to describe her. I do think we'll see Ezra, because they cast him and don't have a second season planned right now.

Those HK droids were equipped with Defoliator Bombs. The New Republic ship at the beginning looks similar to the Mon Calamari MC-30 Frigate from. And we did see home one in Star Wars Rebels season 3.
