Did you Notice of all the Actors wielding a lightsaber, Hayden is the most natural. it's an extension of himself. it looks like he doesn't think of it anymore. He mastered the Lightsaber... Nick Gillard's Training mastered ! And for Ahsoka... Fighting Anaking is a mix Maul / Baylan / Vader (agility, tricks, strength) Anakin as all of this. And now we have proof that with good dialogue... Hayden is a real good actor.

The dialogue felt more natural and really brought me back to the Anakin/Ahsoka of the Clone Wars, but with the added dark side in Anakin. Hayden just nailed it and as far as I am concerned he is Anakin/Vader. I hope we see more of him.

Well, George's strengths were never directing or even script writing. His degree was in Editing. He's an idea guy. The prequels might not have gotten as much "hate" if he had enlisted someone else to do the directing and treatment work, so the actors could be allowed to display their talent more than what George was wanting them to do.

Watching it a second time, I feel like Ahsoka's melancholy, no nonsense attitude in the first half of the series was a result of her giving into fear in a very subtle way. She knew that the one who trained her had fallen and done evil, vile things...and he had taught her everything he knew...and perhaps she worried that she would suffer the same fate. So she tried to harden herself against it because she feared it might be inevitable. The lesson here was that she did not need to stand in his shadow or follow his path. She could choose life....she could choose to be more...and that's what she did. Instead of striking down Anakin in that moment as a Sith would do, she made her choice to not give in. To live.

  • @fusionaddict

Precisely. The whole line -- Dooku to Qui-Gon to Obi-Wan to Anakin to Ahsoka -- they all possess the same base knowledge but each one added their own style, their own beliefs to the chain. Ahsoka will do the same and pass her knowledge on to Sabine, who perhaps will continue on. The difference is that Ahsoka is the first of the Jedi to truly realize that following the Force can be more than the dogmatic order that the Jedi became. In the same way that the Protestant church split from Catholicism because of their belief that bureaucracy & dogma should not stand in-between a person's relationship with God, Ahsoka is taking the lessons of her forebears and stripping them to the fundamentals to create a stronger, more direct connection to the Force.

exactly, just like Anakin said to her she is more just like he was, and it was Luke who showed him that. Ahsoka became disillusioned with the Jedi after being falsely accused, and was always clearly conflicted about being used for a war, and then to top that all off with that leading to her master falling to the darkness caused a part of her to doubt herself.

And gosh Hayden’s take on Clone Wars Anakin was truly remarkable. The Anakin from Episode II was much quieter, insecure and unsure of himself, but Clone Wars Anakin had much more confidence and knew who he was and what he could do and didn’t let that be hidden. The Anakin that we grew up knowing in the Clone Wars, that’s the Anakin that I saw last night. Even the way and the tone that Hayden spoke sounded so much like Matt’s take on Anakin Skywalker. It was Clone Wars Anakin in the flesh, the mannerisms, the voice tonality, the smirks, the jokes, the bluntness, the care, the sadness in his eyes as he sees the world that Ahsoka is growing up in. It was all just beautiful and perfect, everything I imagined whenever thinking of Clone Wars in live action.

Hear me out. Dave is making canon the fact that Anakin literally *is* the chosen one. This is his purpose now. The keeper of the World Between Worlds, or similarly powerful force entity. After death he continued to hone his abilities in the force and found his way to the World Between Worlds. He achieved a perfect balance of light and dark, literally becoming the embodiment of "balance." He was able to control the light and dark side of the force at will (subduing his sith eyes). Comparably, in the Clone Wars he was able to control/submit the daughter and son simultaneously. The Father wanted him to replace him as the arbiter of the force because he knew he was the chosen one. If Dave chooses, he could give us everything we've ever wanted. Side note: I think Ahsoka's final lesson was a test of her ability to overcome her battle with the dark side. It was symbolized by her holding his RED lightsaber in that moment, and her eyes went slightly yellow. Every Jedi is tested by the dark side. Anakin lost his battle with it. Ahsoka chose to rise above her anger and guilt, and let it go. Anakin then subdued the dark side in him, said "theres hope for you yet", and sent her back to the mortal world. She learned her lesson, and from that point on, her demeanor was much more Ahsoka-like. Hopeful. Optimistic. And most importantly, fully trusting in the force.

If I were a betting man I’d say that Anakin HAD to become Vader and then be redeemed in order to fully embody the Father from Mortis. I think that’s what he was in this episode. He can embrace his dark side just enough to test Ahoska. He can tap into the Vader persona but keep it under control which is why he flickers into the armor, like he’s pushing the edge.

It's also kind of haunting or sobering in a way seeing him in his Anakin form while he is aware of exactly what he will become and do as Vader, such as "I've heard that before" referencing his duel with Luke, and "Is that what this is about?" knowing that Ahsoka is worried about what he becomes and what it means for her. Also a little funny seeing him reduce decades of atrocities and evil into "that".

They’re like the clone troopers, who were bred only for the war and once it was done and their part was played, they were tossed aside. It’s great the Ahsoka finally realized she needed to actually live and finally let go of the weight of the war and Anakin’s fate. It was so good seeing her smile and act relaxed when they were in the purgill’s mouth. 10/10 episode.

I really get the feeling that Anakin is the protector of World Between Worlds and we can see he has achieved the balance of light and dark, becoming the role of the Father from Mortis that would bring and maintain balance in the force where as Ahsoka is the heir of the Daughter. Beautiful episode it was perfection.

The editing and the cinematography was on point. The cuts between Vader and Anakin a couple times was enough. You don’t need him to be Vader and have her fight Vader, the red lightsaber and it being Anakin was enough with the cuts to Vaders suit and the breathing and hints of his voice too. She has WAY more time and emotional connection to Anakin then Vader. We’ve also seen her fight Vader anyways, she doesn’t need to fight Vader again. This was him trying to make her more aware of how she doesn’t need to be afraid of Sabine or herself turning like him and her constantly being in war isn’t her fault or her meaning in life. Loved that it was a teaching lesson but she had to get over him and forgive herself for his fall by fighting him in some way. Seeing Rex and the siege of Mandalore, along with Clone Wars era Anakin armor, was great as well.

All that while exploring pivotal moments during the Clone Wars. Love how we know that Ahsoka realized the lesson from the change in her demeanor, she looks like she took a huge weight off her back on the way she talks and acts now. Plus the obvious change of Jedi clothes. Also HELL YEAH! The Force is in everything just like Yoda said long ago. Loved how Jacen was able to hear the duel between Anakin and Ahsoka and also being able to guide his mother to hear it too. ♥ Suck that "Sabine can't be a Jedi" haters.😂 And the purgils. This is peak Star Wars! Haven’t been this hyped since the last few episodes of Season 2 of The Mandalorian. This show is so good! Also, Hayden was phenomenal in this! He portrayed Matt Lanter’s Clone Wars Anakin so well, and he was sensational at portraying Revenge of the Sith Anakin/Vader again after all of these years. That's so in-character for her to not only respect Hera and take the Thrawn threat seriously, but also a great implication that she hasn't forgotten working with Ezra back during Rebels. I wasn't sure if any of the OT trio would be referenced at all in this show so that made me insanely happy in addition to everything else

Star Wars is back! And it's all because of Dave. My favorite moment from this episode was seeing Ahsoka's final and most important lesson. Her transition from Ahsoka the grey to Ahsoka the white was truly metamorphic. Her being stuck in the mindset of “my legacy is death and destruction” and later Anakin showing her that her legacy is “life and light” and now we have Ahsoka the white who trusts completely in the force was a sight to behold.

And the look on Anakin's face...I choose to believe he's also remembering his son.

I don't see many people pointing it out, but Anakin's eyes are extremly symbolic here - and I don't mean the obvious "Good and Bad" thing. When he was himself, his eyes were normal. When he was Vader, his eyes were sickened yellow. But when he was fighting Ahsoka in the World-between-Worlds with his Red Lightsaber, his eyes weren't yellow anymore - they were bloody red (and not the whole eye, like Darth Maul had - just the eyes' iris). This implies how much powerfull Anakin really is, because this is literally the symbol of complete control over the Dark Side within oneself.

Those flashes between him and Vader gave me chills. With that armor he looked EXACTLY like Clone Wars Anakin. Hayden was on a whole other level of epicness and I loved every single second of it. Something else that I want to make sure is highlighted is the music. It was perfect and fit those scenes very, very well. I love how Ashoka seemed more hopeful when she woke up. Like she FELT like the Ashoka that we have always known. That scene with the Purrgil was glorious. The ending of this episode felt like the end of Empire Strikes Back. “Don’t worry, we’ll find them.” I can see why they showed this in theaters. Some of those shots were so cinematically epic.
