Cool. I’m researching all I can about agave because they are everywhere here in Ecuador. Giving myself a crash course in the local plants and there uses as I set up my homestead. Glad I found your channel.
That sap is no joke. I have a rash for over a week now. It burns like sunburn for days.

In my case it felt like I was being bitten by a million sandflies and mosquitoes all at the same time. That sap is dreadful! I found the sap of the Aloe vera plant was very good at reversing the symptoms.

@@greygum4647that’s what I felt. How do you make something from it?
Christopher . Great job!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
guy in blue: ok yes this is interesting and all but I only asked if you wanted some M&M's bro...
Oh my god, what a great agave! Super! I have not seen one!
Thank you !!! Very useful
No, no the tequilla has another process to make it ... from agave you can get aguamiel, pulque, quiote, fiber an also you can eat flowers from quiote (the shut) and chunks of quiote for boiling and fray that is a good food like nopales. The hard part of quiote can be cooked and eating like sugar Cain (it is very sweet and juicy)
Yeah I'm thinking to just use the yucca for fiber and you confirmed for me bc the agave had me itching like crazy and the only way it stopped was I put baking soda and water on my face
Having a garden full of agaves and yuccas... I am a bit blown away atm😮
I just made rope from this plant for the first time a couple days ago, and it sure did irritate the skin LOL I had to learn the hard way LOL😂
I have one in my garden, i enjoy eating it's pulp.
Well said Mo 🤐🤣
during and after filming this you start to realize you have severe itching and burning sensation because Calcium Oxalates crystals on Agave penetrated your skin with toxic reactions.. ''never touched Agave again'' :)

right, what a load of bull! I got rid of these things from my yard and made sure I wore thick leather gloves and washed any skin immediately if it came into contact with the sap.

I agree, and for that reason I now refuse to grow any Agave species. The itching is enough to drive any sane person insane.
is that the agave the indians would roast for several days and where is the pineapple part they did that with--above ground--or hidden down in the leaves if you cut them off. ? The agave roasting pits the indians used I would like to see what it looks like what they roasted but i can never find it.
Thanks! I'm going to use this in my Spanish class for a question!
can the agave be used for soap? Looking for directions on how to process agave leaves for soap. thanks

It's not like aloe. As mentioned, getting in contact with the juice of this plant can bring an itch/rash to your skin.
I have come across a few people who actually mispronounce yuca/yucca. I don't blame them, they don't know but this is actually a spanish word. Grew up in florida my whole life where there is the most diverse hispanic origins in the whole united states so you can be sure it is accurate. Everyone pronounces it as YOU-Ka. That's what I've known my whole life. We don't have just mexicans here but also cubans, colombians, Columbians, puerto Ricans, dominicans, etc. Just a fun knowledge fact for everyone 😊
I was thinking that I really wanted an agave plant, but I don't like itching ♥
Agave isn't just for tequila making.
Had the plants juice on my hands and I broke out itching red and burning skin whatever part of my body I touched with my hand would soon burn witching 10 seconds. Worst experience I ever had with a plant

help to buy agave americana seeds, call from South Sfrica
Quick video. Must have been all his hands can take before needing a wash and some soap. I did a job today removed a handful of these blue agave. Arms were burning like hell. Felt like fire ants eating my skin while I worked for half the day. Chicken pocks ×20 its intense for about 30 mins at a time.
Is the plant poisonous to chickens when they eat it?

No. You can boil the diced or grated pith of the leaves and eat it as a vegetable yourself, if you want to. It is sweet and not oxalic (burning) once it is cooked, and has a texture something like cooked courgettes (zucchini). Keep the juice and render it down and it is agave syrup, which is an expensive delicacy in Mexico. You can feed the pulp to your chickens or eat it yourself.
Hii sir
Its look like our pineapple except look big
Agave is high in fructose ,90 percent and 10 percent glucose. The liver is the only organ that can metabolize Agave -- fructose and this puts a strain on the liver , this was what I heard from another source. I'm confuse as if I shoukd eat it or not . Great video by the way.
Why the fuck was Moe in the video? He served no purpose.
That's notta knoife...
Tequila is a different agave.
Moe is not a man of many words 🤐
Seems that people who may be good at self reliance are really bad at making videos.

"aztec" is an umbrella term, that lumps in many groups of original american people together
