Propagating agave succulent with actual results
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Agave is a hardy succulent that thrives in USDA zones 5 to 11. It likes full sun and very little water. Watch this video to see how to separate out its pups and propagate the plant.

My friend is a landscaper and the customer wanted their agaves removed. He had one in the back of his truck for almost 2 weeks in the Texas summer when I noticed it. It had only a single blade and a single dried up tap root. I decided to give it a try and now it has 10 blades and is thriving. Very hardy plant indeed.

I like your voice, it’s so calming. And I like the way you say roots. I came here with the aim to learn about agave propagation but I got so much more xx also, I love your irreverent use of the spade in getting those pups out 😂

I just found you because of your opossum video from 2 years ago. You were so sweet and I loved listening to you look up Information on him instead of just trying to get rid of him like most people do. New sub. I look forward to watching all your videos. 😊 P.S. hopefully I can pick up some of your gardening tips. Plants come to my apartment to die. 😭😂
Thanks for showing the entire process for how you look for pups after being taken out from a planter. As simple as it sounds, this is so rare to find a video about on KZread. How do you know where to cut the pup so as to ensure it won’t die in its new pot? I bought a super root bound agave blast and have a similar situation with visible pups I want to separate and hopefully try to keep the main plant alive.

Good Work....No one used to talk on agave propagation from leaves....I think they must have the ability to propagate from leaves as well.....

I would think so too but they propagate so well using the small pups that leaf propagation is not required

In Queensland the government has planted a few thousand acres of Webster blue agave as an experiment for future oil/fire use. Apparently the ball will burn for hours. I have started growing them in my 10 acre paddock in West Australia for future fire wood. It has just become illegal to cut up fallen branches ANYWHERE in Australia, and my neighbour had a visit from CALM land management last week because they saw the smoke coming out his chimney and wanted to look at his wood pile (Seriously..talk about New World Order) . If you are caught with Malley, Red or White gum or any branches without a letter from a farmer, the fines run into the thousands. Same laws apply to Marron. Loose you chain saw, car, trailer and massive fine.

The core is roasted to concentrate its sap into a sugary syrup as is in the case of maple syrup. From this syrup, a wine is made called “pulque”. A brandy is made from this pulque called Mezcal or tequila. The leaves contain oxalic acid which provoked an allergic reaction activated when exposed to sunlight. A stinging rash develops on the skin. Nevertheless, a strong salt water resistant fiber is extracted to make textiles. The skin of the leaves have a natural wax which can also be extracted through boiling the dried leaves.
Can the pups be planted directly into the ground?

The leaves have a natural wax which is a moisturizer for the human skin. The extraction process is similar to the way that sandalwood essence is extract from sandal wood in India.

I accidentally broke my agave at the root. The hose was caught in it and when I pulled, the whole agave came away from the root. it is a dwarf agave.

Everyone appreciates you making these videos because they help people with their gardening interests. However, I'm going to criticize you on this one. First, you shouldn't "skip" steps when showing how to do something. I hate that. For example, here you skipped the watering of the plants, so I'm sitting here wondering how to water a newly transplanted Agave? Soak it the first time,? Barley water the first time? ... Additionally, you completely skipped the transplanting process for an Agave pup that has come up from the ground (which is most of us) and not from a pot. Now, I have no idea how far down I need search for any kind of roots on the pups to dig it out. As a result, your entire video on how to transplant Agave pups was useless. Do you understand?
