on the subject of our ancestry, I remmeber seeing this series and it addresses how many of us think we have native heritage, yet I can never find 100% fool proof evidence of this happening in history...I wonder why then is it so common to think? in fact, why do so many people, (even whites) care that they that they have native heritage?

Because Americans in general, both black and white, have turned the image of Native Americans into a magical “exotic” fantasy. And if you’re an American who’s family has been in the Americas for a while, it’s easy to claim an exotic ancestry by saying you’re “part native” because no one can prove you wrong… at least not until dna tests came along lol.
