I’m so glad Hercules was able to learn this before he passed. I imagine it gave him peace and understanding. He had a strong mother.

I’m Chinese and my grandparents didn’t talk about those hard time they went thru either. That older generation just didn’t want to talk about it. Once I was on a walk with my grandma. She said one of her babies suffocated while they were sheltering in the bunkers when the Japanese planes dropped bombs. She just said it like it was what it was. Not much emotions. I was like, whaaat, so how did you feel about it? How did you get over it. I flooded her with questions but she just said, well, it happened. That generation went thru a lot but they functioned. Our generation didn’t need to go thru all that hardship n turmoil but yet we need so much help psychologically. It’s a different kind of struggle. I just hope humanity can one day see that there’s enough for everyone if we all just treat each other like our own.

Why does he have to be black? I don't understand the way Americans define race... 70% white ancestors but oops one black person... your black. And this is coming from a person of mixed race ancestry. I have a blood Uncle who's skin is ebony and an blood Aunt who is a blue eyed redhead. I struggle to define my race and I guess by the definition here I 'pass' as most people think I'm Italian or Greek. Is thst wrong? I don't define myself as white or black...

are you american? because in the US, race is defined by the "one drop rule" - if you have any african ancestry in you, you're black. this is because slavery was racialized in the US. if you looked white but were born from a black mother (even if she, too, looked white), then you would remain in slavery, and because you remained in slavery, that meant that you were black. it's much different across the world, but in a US context, calling even lightskinned people who look white "black" because they have black ancestry, is tied to how we defined people during slavery

Why can't he be black if that's who he is? You are definitely passing,& you know it. You're conscious of it just as he was.
