And as a much, order some buna after your meal. Sonny, there are several types of cardamom; what you have found in Ethiopia is the Ethiopian False Cardamom or Korerima. Used almost exclusively in Ethiopia, It is a different species from the Green Cardamom and Black Cardamom found in South Asian cooking. The 'icy-hot' flavor you describe differentiates Korerima from Green/Black Cardamom.

I think it is so interesting that cardamom is featured in old recipes from places such as Iran and India, and yet it also was adopted heavily in Scandinavia. Personally, I love the flavor.

@@julienfroidevaux1143 Dude he’s eaten tons of vegetarian dishes. Also in some countries like Japan, cooking live seafood in this way is very common and not seen as taboo, or strange. It is strange to me, and I understand why it is strange and cruel to others as well. But approaching other cultures and styles of preparation without passing judgement or being condescending is definitely a demonstration of open mindedness and humility. You clearly don’t agree with it and I respect that opinion. Like I said. I don’t approve of or would partake in some of these dishes. But I also can understand why a journalist would want to experience and document such things as they are the norm in other places. I don’t think he “gets off” on killing animals as he is almost never the one to actually do it. More often he is observing traditions of other cultures. Judge away but keep in mind that what is normal for you, simply is not for everyone else on this planet.

A lot of places calls cabbage greens but he actually said cabbage and greens
@KainYusanagi
10 ай бұрын
@@musicspeakstoashley More specifically, any edible green plant leaf that is eaten can be referred to as "greens" (which is a further shortening of the term "leafy greens"). Also, he said "Tastes somewhere between cabbage and collard greens" before the next stop, where he called the greens "cabbage".
@Fluuuv
10 ай бұрын
What is the correct name?
@KainYusanagi
10 ай бұрын
@@Fluuuv From my understanding, the meals he ate with greens used Gomen Wat, which is usually a mix of collard greens, but especially cabbage and kale. Collard greens are any of the leafy greens of the family brassica oleracea, which includes cabbage, broccoli, kale, and cauliflower, and the term "Collard" is derived from the word "colewort", meaning any of the genus Brassica that do not develop heads (eg. cauliflower and broccoli both do, so would not traditionally be considered collard greens, even though the leaves are edible). So, it's not totally incorrect for him to call them cabbage, since it's likely to be a component (and his sense of smell could be telling him that it's cabbage, as well), but it's probably not entirely correct, either, since it's usually cabbage and kale.

Actually there is a history between Mexico and Ethiopia. Mexico helped Ethiopia in a time of need and Ethiopia also helped Mexico in a time of need.
