Testing in streets is good information, because mosley KZreadrs tests in hwy. Tacoma did very well this time.

Oh wow. That's better than the last gen! Great, I will add though that It's not shocking to me - My 23 Frontier with NA 3.8 gets 20.3 mpg overall and 25 MPG on the highway ( i'm a slow driver )

You should do a calculated test. The frontier computer is known to over estimate its mpg by like 2

$4.15 a gal? Forgot what that was like! With the cost of these new pickups, every mile counts. 23mpg combined isnt too bad! I just cant justify the OTD cost of these trucks though.

I have a 2016 Sprinter cargo van with a 2.1 L4 cylinder diesel and I get 24 miles per gallon driving like I stole it and the cargo full of tool boxes, Toyota can do better

It's mostly because you're using diesel, which is 25-30% more efficient in MPG than gas.

Not a fair comparison my friend! Plus your mpg is not that great for a diesel! Had a 99 f350 dually with the 7.3l power stroke and got 18 mpg pulling a 4 horse trailer loaded!

It gets good mpg’s now, but wait until you fully loaded with gear are other things in Tacoma then tested again see what the gas mileage is then

Well, EPA estimates are not calculated with a load like that, so it's still impressive that we exceeded expectations with the test.

@@wilyceyoteyes I’m gna mount a 50 mil gun then lets talk gas consumption.. people who can afford these trucks not that they are hard to attain arnt buying it for mpg.. what your seeing here is a single person driving the truck will be 80 percent of the time this truck will be driven. So yeah don’t hate that it is better than the v6 third gen. It’s just facts.. I’ve own a 3rd gen and now own a 24. It’s better all around. Can’t really even say what I miss about the 3rd gen. It’s a great truck but the 4th gen just really is that yeah better..

72 miles is more than sufficient to get an average. All EPA tests are less than 11 miles each.

said the same things about the 3rd gens, and thats what i got too. with the tire choice/tire size/weight of usual tacoma ownership you will see this drop 5-6 mpg. id hope that the 4cyl is better on fuel than its 6cyl predecessor, id hope that it would be even better actually. with issues modifying the 4th gens, extortionate markups its not justifiable to me to even consider a new when 25 - 30k i can buy someones used and already setup 3rd gen or spend similar on a full SAS gen1 with a v8 swap.... not impressed
