ACID reveals GOLD WOW !!! Specimen Gold Nugget Found Metal Detecting in Arizona Desert

Ғылым және технология

Big Gold revealed after soaking in Acid. Come along as we soak a nice quartz gold specimen in a Hydrofluoric (HF) Acid Bath and see the amazing outcome. I crush some rock containing some good gold that we have been mining from a pocket that my buddy Chris found metal detecting in Arizona.

Its a window wieght used to open old wooden windows. Rope from bottom of window runs around a fully and the week wieghts move freely inside the wall cavity

Nice rich pocket you found. Well done. You don't find that kind of weight without putting in a lot of time searching. Very happy to see your time pay off. Awesome.

6:00 is an old window weight that would hold open a house window. I think. I enjoyed watching this video. I’d love to get on some gold like that! Gave you a subscription.

Cool stuff , I have a couple specimen pieces I would like to acid bath, do you have to change the mixture add more or is it just about time submerged ? How do you neutralize the acid and dispose of it?

Nice work sir.. HF is a calcium seeker and yes very dangerous stuff! Be careful! Is there any way else to dissolve the quartz? I believe Hydrofluoric is basically the only way to dissolve the rock and quartz but as I said.. is very dangerous. Thanks for your work! ✌️PT

Thank you Prospector Tripp. I have found HF is about the only acid strong enough to dissolve the quartz. Other acids just barely scratch the surface, and seem to just clean it, more than dissolve it. I have all the safety when using HF, but one thing is watch out on fumes. I now use a fan blowing fumes away when working with it...

Use molten sodium hydroxide or drano. Heat it to 600 centigrade in a nickel crucible for a few hours and pour off the molten sodium hydroxide. Wash the cooled specimen and see if enough of the quartz was dissolved. To get out iron minerals, use concentrated muriatic acid. Repeat with the molten hydroxide as long as quartz remains if the goal is to remove all of the quartz.

I have some dirty rocks to bathe in HF Dave. Do you recommend a seller?? I bought some 30% peroxide once but pretty sure I was ripped off. Let’s hunt together again someday. Brownie

Great work Dave! I am wondering if that HCA is eating any of the gold as well as the quartz...? Also, that looks like an old anchor. My buddy has an old duck boat we go on and he has two that look like that and they are on a short rope to throw into the reeds when we back into the spot.

Thank you Joe... the hydrofluoric acid will not eat the gold. The old iron piece I use to crush the rock is an old window weight.
