In game 2, I believe Cal missed that he can tap his Urza’s Saga for one before it’s sacrificed, which he would have been able to to use to activate his commander that turn. Only a slight optimality, but that extra 2 cards and pilot could’ve been important.

Definitely shows how hard it can be to interact with Kodama lines - when they don't include any no creature spells.

I think everyone missed that philip could not rebound the ephemerate on solitude due to the magistrate.

I've always been a fan of oona but I feel like she's been replaced by Marneus Calgar as the "make infinite mana, commander go brrr" deck.

I have an oona deck I'm passively building. I love a good faerie. ^_^ the splashing of white for Marneus is am extra flare of power with access to those good cards too though

In second game Phillip plays a "counter everything" game.

This gives me ideas for my own Tymna/Kodama list that I’ve run for a while. Corpse Knight can easily replace my zulaport cutthroat, and a few other tweaks can give me an obscene number of combo lines to work with. Grateful for the content as always, but it’s something else to see the deck I run taking down games in another pilot’s hands

You can also reanimate one of the blinkers and a sac engine to do the loop.

At 20:41, ephemerate does rebound but can't be cast due to drannith on dante's side. That would negate Phillip's solitude from reentering and exiling dante's drannith. It does not impact this game but should be caught. Phillip's game plan of counter everything is partially why I'm torn on countermagic in edh. While he was countering a lot of important pieces, it didn't seem like he was getting closer to winning at all. And when he needed counterspells at the end of the game, he ran out of gas because dante's finisher was creature based getting around the remora.

And it got removed, with drannith on the board both games, and effectively did nothing.

I always thought that Abdel and Agent of the Iron Throne has cEDH potential as you have two of the 3 combo pieces in the command zone, but this looks cool, too.

Someone was on the play against me and turn 1 evoked Grief then Ephemerated it - needless to say my hand was in tatters by turn 2. It was beautiful! I laughed and conceided the game.

Petition for the next time Noah plays Gitrog that whoever odd doing the intro starts reading the Gitrog primer before cutting away to the next deck 😵‍💫

I can’t seem to find a game ending combo with him with this list unfortunately. I’m probably just dumb, but would love some insight as to how you win with protean hulk with this list!

im a little confused as to why two ranger captain triggers were used on Cal. He had drawn a lot of cards but wasn't presenting the win on board in the same way that Dante was with Kodama, Emergence Zone, Karmic Guide and Sidisi all in play/revealed at that point? also the value from displacer kitten in the second game is incredible!

There is a lot of discussion off camera that happen during these games, and so threat assessment and politic-ing your opponents into certain decisions leads to some of these plays. This game happened a few months ago so I can't exactly remember, but we knew that Cal on Shorikai was going to present something dangerous (or harmful to my board state) during his turn which prompted the use of ranger captain.

The ranger captain stops noncreature spells so it didn't stop the creature combo kodama kept presenting

Cal didn't remember to float mana with his urzas saga. He could have activated shorukai.

I wonder what would happen if a combat deck would sit at the table, like a aggro deck.

It drove me crazy when Philip didn't flicker the Remora with Displacer Kitten. Turns out he had a ton of plays.

Acererak doesn't bounce after you've completed Tomb of Annihilation. If you never complete that dungeon, then he can infinitely bounce. Nothing says you have to venture into Tomb of Annihilation, rather just venture into one of the three dungeons.

when someone asks me how do i win with the gitrog when everything is ensambled, I scoop.

How does the combo in game 1 go infinite? Once the dungeon is completed, Acererak will no longer bounce himself. I dont get it

I think Game 2 there was an illegal play with Ephemerating Phillip's Solitude while Drannith was out on the field. Otherwise cool gameplay

Noob question isn't tymnas ability an actived ability? So wouldn't cursed totem stop dante from drawing after combat?

Activated abilities are worded as "[cost]: [effect]". Triggered abilities can be identified by the words "At", "When" or "Whenever".

6:43 you can’t reality shift the gitrog monster here because dredge is a replacement effect that noah chooses before resolution of drawing. It’s why dredge is a stupid mechanic and why gitrog is a cedh viable deck (the inability to interact with it).

Wouldn't Acererak's venture the dungeon trigger stop after he completed the tomb the first time?

No he never bc he never completes tomb of annihilation, he goes through phandelver.

As long as the Acererak player never enters Tomb of Annihilation, Acererak will keep bouncing back. Dante kept looping through Lost Mine of Phandelver.
