I was thinking Bullitt. Awesome movie need to watch again.
For any future adhesion problems like this, id recommend goo gone and a plastic scraper thats safe for cars

@@imashd2629 the scrapers don’t scratch the car? (Not that it’s a problem if you are going to literally polish it later)
One day, you should have Ernest visit the WD shop in Cleveland. If he gets the opportunity to have the Chevelle restored, it would be great if he drives it out to make a cameo appearance.
I would like to see a follow up on this car when it’s completed
Beautiful car. Needs to be on the roads again. I agree with other commenters that this paint color is a keeper. So many models of the 70's were great, in pretty much every country & brand... Hard to pick an absolute favorite.
You should have over a 1 million subscribers your vids are that great.

Wow! Just freaking wow! You guys are like magicians! That Chevelle looks incredible regardless of how many obstacles were in your way. I had the same problem with tape residue on a '69 GTO that was in storage and discovered Goo Gone, some elbow grease, and a lot of patience can work wonders. I know this job wasn't easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it. But you guys knocked it out of the park. One bit of advice for your next job: Expect the unexpected. Always go in thinking it's the worst job you can imagine and that you'll need every possible tool.
Wow that looks great! Never seen that color before, love it.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. You guys are miracle workers
Chevrolet should bring the Chevelle back, it could be a cheaper alternative to the Camaro.

@@AdrenalineTheory That is interesting to hear, I thought those cars all sold really well. Ford can't kill off the Mustang though. That has been a staple in the Ford lineup since 1964. That friggin electric crossover doesn't count.

@@jundialhaqiqa9907 If some of the known models do stick around, they wont ever be the same. Selling well isnt always what makes the decision. Chevy is canning the camaro, dodge is canning the charger/challenger and ford will kill the mustang. Its just how things are. Everything will go EV.
For me, North American. Full sized. My dream is a 71 Mercury Marquis Brougham with all the options. Beautiful, comfortable, and roomy.
Awesome transition guys! That Chevelle looks ten times better!
This was released perfectly alongside the new Grand Tour special, especially considering Richard Hammond uses a Camaro SS!
Muito BOM! Parabéns do Brasil🙌🏼
Always good when the clean car motivates the project seems like a dope guy
Super job well done.
One of my detailers doing one of my favorite cars? Dream come true.
Keep up the good work guys, big love from Indonesia 🙏
Wet sand and polish would have worked perfectly for those tape lines
I love that color it's done I'm painting mine the exact same way

I see a first generation Monte Carlo in the background! These clean ups are such good incentives to clean up my first generation Monte Carlo!
American 💯💯💯 and the ‘70 Chevelle SS us my dream car!!
As a young girl in the 70s I had one of these beauties as my first car . At the time didn’t know what I had unfortunately I regret letting it go to this day
excellent work

Part ll, at your shop when the car is back together???
Excellent work still wd 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey terrific job cleaning good old American muscles
@11:18 - I would suggest using WD-40. You can let it sit on the surface for a few minutes, then literally go back and rub it off with your fingers or a bristle brush, then go back and wash it to remove the residue from the WD-40.
You guys did an absolutely fantastic job bringing that car back! Dried tape that has etched paint is the pits to deal with. The owner has a beautiful car he should be proud of. I’m sure he’s going to love having that beauty back on the road when finished.
Classic 👌🏽🔥
Dudes go back and get the inside, This cars deserves you guys, God Bless , & Happy Holidays. Ernest where you at man. Love that CAR. 2 new subs
As some others have posted... Goo Gone (or another of the citrus-oil based cleaners) works wonders on adhesives while being gentle on paint. A plastic scraper or plastic dish scrubber works well on this type of adhesive deposit also. A small bottle of Goo Gone and a plastic scraper would not take up much room in your kit bag. Big shout-out to Ernest... he sure has some patience to keep after Cholo all these years until he finally got the Chevelle, and then he did the right thing and called WD Detailing to do the clean up/restoring of paint which allowed us to see the process!
Great video! On the clear coat, the only thing I know would be wet sanding with 1000, 1500, then 2000. This will make the clear very thin, be careful. Then buff, which I saw you do in the vid. It is a balancing act and some compromise no matter what. Great job!

My favorite car of all time 70 Chevelle SS!! In search for the right project as I’m typing this
I used to use steel wool for chrome and brushed aluminum cleaning. I had a '96 Ford F150 Eddie Bauer edition and had lots of chrome and the aluminum tail gate insert. Steel wool did amazing work of getting it all clean and making it pop.
I love FORD cars! I think it is one of the greatest car manufactures.

This is my favorite Chevelle SS. Love the color, don’t see it very often. Hurts to see it “not on the road”
Just found your channel and love it
I think that a rubber eraser wheel, attached to a drill, would easily take the tape off. I have used it to remove a 16 year old car dealer sticker that had completely faded. A little goo gone in between also helped.
I’ve used WD-40 to get duct tape residue off of cars. The tape had been on the roof holding some 3mil plastic over a leaking sunroof. The had put it on there until they had the money to have the sunroof replaced and resealed (took a couple of years, but the original duct tape and plastic sheeting worked). The WD-40 worked like a champ. After removing the residue I immediately washed, clay barred, compounded, then waxed. There were no visible lines where the paint had been. So basically… WD-40. LOL

I love the Chevelles and the Impalas from this era. Love the colour and striping on this one. What a horrible thing to do to it taping on newspaper. What were they thinking. Anyway given what you had there you did a remarkable job cleaning it up.
Two cars I would like to have back from my youth. A 1965 Ford Thunderbird Landau and a 1968 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Satisfying. Love your work! Maybe one day you can do my chevelle.
What a beautiful car and great job! Too bad about the tape, but at least you can really see the potential of this car… It’s going to be amazing when it is up and running! I love older cars and I have owned and daily driven both 1970’s Mercedes and late 60’s Mopar and I would say Euro or American vintage rides are going to give you lots of smiles per mile… Older cars usually have communities of fandom which surround them and that adds to the experience (and parts availability network). American cars generally are probably easier to find parts for locally, but it really depends on the make and model. Great video!
Πολύ ωραίο αμάξι nice car translation.
🔥
Maybe some goo gone might’ve worked to get rid of the adhesive. I’ve used it on a bunch of surfaces that has had adhesive etched into the paint for many years and so far so good I mean it hasn’t done any damage to speak of
She cleaned really nice know its time for the owner to finish getting the car running 😊❤
WD-40 is surprisingly great at removing glue residue from paint surfaces. Just leave for a few minutes then wipe off with a microfibre towel. Then just wash as normal to remove the WD-40 residue.
Hallo, I'm your new customer, I'm from Indonesia, useful video
I’d want this car. I had a 71 Malibu 350 that I learned to drive on and loved that car. I tried to get my dad to buy the SS 396 with a 4 on the floor in the original green with the racing stripe but the insurance for a 15.5 year old was too much - over $400 per year vs about $100 on the Malibu with an automatic. I remember the sticker on the SS 396 was $3,800 and on the Malibu was $3,500.
Wax and grease remover would have probably help but you guys have done an awesome job on this SS Chevelle
Brass bristle brushes work great on raised white lettering / white wall tires. Makes the tires pop with brightness.

Some adhesive remover or soapy water with a plastic razor blade works great
