I had a 1983 Caprice Classic. Owned it for 31 years. THE greatest car I've ever owned. Had a 5.0L V-8 (305 CID), which is exactly the same engine that yours has. That engine compartment is IDENTICAL to mine. If it were me, and if it's in decent shape, I'd leave everything under that hood exactly as you found it. This includes the air pump and any other factory stuff. In the time I drove mine, it NEVER stalled at a red light on a cold morning, and it seldom required more that 2 cranks to kick over. The Rochester Quadrajet was as rugged and reliable as an anvil. It made emissions perfectly. Mechanics used to remark about its originality to me. I never changed the distributor, rotor, module, wires... nothing! These cars are bulletproof. I gave it good oil at regular intervals. The only major drive train issue I ever had was the tranny pump in the 700R4 (which was a common item to fail on these). Thanks for giving this car the TLC it deserves. I hope it gets a happy owner to give it another 40 years of service.

Not that one. It's a worn out rust bucket ready for the crusher. It isn't worth anything. The was a nice car when it was new but it's worn out. But I do agree that nice well cared for examples of these cars from the 1980's may bring a good price but generally speaking most cars from the1980's except certain sports cars aren't considered to be collectable. It just wasn't a great decade but cars were getting better by the end of the 1980's as technology advanced.

I love this body style along with its brother the Chevy Caprice. You guys are going to do this car justice and getting it cleaned in detailed and hopefully running again. Please keep up the good work

Thank you..thank you! For doing an 80's car! Yes it was the malaise era for cars, but if you lived through it there are some truly wonderful memories of these cars. This Impala is somewhat rare with a factory vinyl top and AC. It would have been someone's pride and joy when new. Had to chuckle at the burgundy sport mirror off another car. That plush carpet was great.. not like today's velcro stuff.. We did not have a ton of safety features, but we have marvelous carpet to bleed out on!! 😂 Keep up the good work fellas.

May I suggest you obtain a few moveable partitions/walls that you can put on the opposite side of the vehicle when you are pressure washing. Safety tip: When fire comes out of the carb, cease to spray starter fluid and continue to spin the engine over with the starter. It will harmlessly suck the flame back into the engine.

Great transformation guys. Nice to see cars from my 20’s. I assume this one was built in the 1970-1980’s because of the leather landau roof

I'm guessing the owner of this Impala used those "ballast bags": in the trunk for traction in snowy weather. I did the same with my Dodge Dart using 100 lbs of ice melt. Made improved traction in deep snow possible.

In the early 1990s, we had a 1982 Impala that looked very much like this one, even had the Landau top and the same pinstripe & interior color. Only difference was the paint was silver, not gray. My parent's bought the car after I was T-boned in my mom's '84 Ford Tempo, and they needed something cheap (I think they paid ~$1500 for it) while waiting on the insurance company to pay out.

I love watching your videos. My knowledge of cars is how to drive one, gas them up, check the oil, and change the tires. I drive a 2018 Impala. I prefer the newer cars because of the much better features. Though I don't know that much about cars, I'm older so I know a little more about our bodies. I think you need to invest in a table instead of washing the floor mats and stuff on the floor. Maybe get something like a metal patio table so you aren't doing so much work being bent over. I'm just saying. Littleton Colorado 😊

Great work as always. Odd car to work on. They made millions of these and they're about as collectible as a chewing gum wrapper. I can't count how many of these I rode in or drove.

I remember as a kid seeing those cars all the time on the road, sadly a lot of them were scrapped but we have a guy where I live now that has one of those Impalas that he bought brand new and he's still driving it to this day. Makes me sad that the days of those big carbureted sedans are long gone, 😢😢😢😢

I do appreciate how you folks do not discriminate between age and or/ model of vehicles. Most of the cars from the 1980’s were stinkers and this one included. I suppose to someone younger this car may be of value. Love what you guys are doing though! Thanks again for an entertaining video!

Hey guys, I don’t know if you guys are aware but these cars have a huge following and people pay a lot of money for these cars in any condition. If you guys can buy this car I would consider it because you can turn an easy profit!
