I'm 24 going in. To be honest, I am twice the man I was at 18. I'm stronger, faster, smarter, more mature, quite honestly better at everything. Maybe this advice goes for people who are a lot older than me, but a lot of 18 year olds are still kids. I'm glad I'm joining now and not at 18

Good to know. But in all honesty, nothing you listed is an actual "struggle." As someone who grew up in poverty, there is nothing life can throw at me, that is worse than living in extreme poverty.

When u view the world with empathy u will realize that struggle, poverty, lack ect is relative. Just like a 300lb squat may be light to me but heavy to my mother. Rich people dont struggle with finances but may struggle with work ethic or loneliness. Struggle is struggle. We all have different strengths and weaknesses

lawan Moutari-moussa sir, be prepared to have ppl younger than you as your supervisor and most of the time they are clueless and ignorant to some degree so expect conflicts in maturity as far as age...I had that issue. Also the younger you are the more you are favored in certain commands while push for that airman to be the “star”

ANDERSON PALOMINO go for it man! All they can say is no. In my case I had a recruiter who went above and beyond to make this happen. I was told numerous times by other recruiters that they wouldn’t even toy with the waiver. They’d never seen one approved for age. I was persistent and found a recruiter who would submit it. It took about 3-4 months to get it approved by the regional recruiting station down in San Diego which is where you want it to go. Now for me my physical fitness is pretty good. I’m doing 28 pull-ups l, doing over 100 crunches in 2 min, and my run time for 3 miles is 11:20 which is just fine! I also have my Bachelors degree and have a family with lots of life experience so that was taken into consideration. I also interviewed with a major out of our local recruiting command and he signed my waiver to get approved immediately because he thought I would be a good fit for the Corps! All you can do now man is just go for it. Make sure your in shape and stay out of trouble. I also have a clean record. No tickets or health issues. I do have two tattoos but they are covered. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions.

i understand , went in at 25 years old. tried college after high school stayed for 2years and came home got a job, apartment, making some money.... made life change and enlisted. i`m 25 and now running with 18 year old kids. being called POP by my squad. being told what to do by Senior airmen T. I. Doyle. he was younger then me.sharing a shower with 50 guys and being constipated for weeks because of my body could not get right. eventually i got my head right during training and figured some things out. my sleep cycle was off because u have no control. sleep at 9 pm no debate no question. being older it bothers you because i was on my own for 3years and now the loss of self is hard. i started to speak up more to my flight. i would tell them about making it to the end, not quitting, graduation day and that feeling of winning. i wanted to walk out of BMT with my head up not down. it was great and my fives years were some of the best times of my life. I’m 36 years old... single with no dependents. I’m in the DEP program for active duty AF... I lost 135 lbs in 15 months so I can join the military. No surgery just pure motivation. When you want something bad enough you can make it happen... it’s totally mental... I lost all the weight I needed to... I’m 16 lbs under my max weight requirement..Plan on losing another 10 lbs and I’ll be at my goal. Because of my age and even though I lost all the weight I needed to I’m still a bit concerned about being able to keep up with the younger crowd at BMT... I’ve never been a smoker and never had any major injuries and no problems with my knees so hopefully BMT isn’t too bad... started jogging... my mile is about 12:44 and my mile and a half is about 18:22 I know for my age I need to have my mile and half under 16 mins for BMT requirements... because my age I know I have it a little easier with the BMT requirements. How much can someone improve with the running/pushups and sit-ups ? Right now I’m able to do 35 sit-ups a min... I’ll pass that with no problem... just a bit nervous with the run and push-ups... any advice would be great !

Ok so first off I commend u for your amazing accomplishments. Tag me in some progress pics if u have them. But anyways. As far as push ups and running u merely just have to do the task. But at your age I really encourage u to pay attention to your foods how they affect u. Maybe try the ketogenic diet. Do some research on it. I do it currently. U want to be stretching and using weights when u work out. Train like an athlete would. U are very Young and would not be the oldest in BMT. One of my good friends is in the air force now as a med tech at 39 years old and trains hard every morning. Build some muscle (u won't get bulky lol) train like an athlete, eat for performance and longevity, use weights and stretch!!! And Foreal tag me on instagram lol iam curious how u looked before 115lbs lost

Wow congrats!! That’s amazing weight loss. I’ll be 30 and joining the Army. If I may add to what Raymond suggested about doing the task, that’s exactly what I’ve had to do to prepare for basic also. You just have to do more of them to improve. I do push ups every single day and do more each time. I try variations of how I do my sets but I get them done because I know, at least for the Army, there will be lots of them. And for runs, try also incorporating sprints to bring down your time. Maybe add 60/120 or something of the sort where you’re doing HIIT exercises and maxing yourself then resting for a short period. Those helped with my conditioning as well train my body to tap into that last little bit of energy on reserve that I need to push through those last couple meters and make my time. And yes as previously mentioned, what you eat is so important because you cannot train like this if your diet is poor. I also do something like the ketogenic diet but I only keep it at intermittent fasting, I haven’t tried to go as far as go into ketosis or anything. Fasting is the shit!

Michelle S, Hi Michelle. I am 27 y/o and I got accepted into OTS and am currently waiting for a date. After getting accepted, my initial PT test was 19 sit-ups, 20 pushups, and a 12min 55 sec mile-and-a-half. Today is my 7th week of training and I can now do 48 push-ups, 55 sit-ups and a 10min 49sec mile-and-a-half. I wanted to share what I did with you: I work out Monday, Wednesday, Friday only; injury-free is #1 priority. First I do a 3 min fast walk as a warm-up. Then I follow two guides. Google "hundred pushups" and follow the first link instructions. For situps I downloaded "200 situps" off the app store. Clearly follow these instructions and see if you improve with this plan. As for running... I use a treadmill and randomize my routine myself. I would do a mix between 1.5-2 mile runs of increasing speed each day and going 0.25 mile sprint intervals on tracks. Example: Today I attempted a 1.5 mile with a minimum of 8.0mph speed and accomplished it. On lap 5 I went to 8.2 and on lap 6 I went 9.0 with a sprint at the end. Friday I will attempt a constant 8.2mph speed.

Thanks for this video. I'm considering joining the air force. I'm 26 and a I have a bachelor's in Spanish and a masters degree in social work. I'm trying to figure out if I should join the air force as an officer or if I should go into civilian social work with the air force or work for the V.A. I plan to take the exam soon to become a licensed social worker but it seems that military mostly wants clinical social workers. However, I don't plan to obtain a clinical license. Plus I do not have much experience in a clinical setting to begin with.

I was in for almost 4 years. I regret having not tried to stay in even though I constantly battled with my weight. I got one of my job choices as I was AFSC 64550 Inventory Mgt Specialist. I served August ' 71 to May ' 75 . During the Cold War / Vietnam Era's. My best duty station was @ Zweibrucken AB , Germany . The base closed in the 1990 's . Are you stationed in the USA?

Also, it is the Air Force at the end of the day and not the Marines. BMT was easy in my opinion. I entered BMT at 148 lbs and left at about 158 lbs. BMT can actually make you in worse shape than when you entered if you were ripped prior to going. You don't hit the gym,EVER!

If I could start over I'd go officer simply Because my personality aligns me with the role of an officer in terms of spending alot of time alone and what not. I’m 57. 2 yrs ago I completed a recruitment program for a protection service including physical self defense, and exercise requirements. We beat the crap out of each other including some in 20s and competed on every level for 2 months of initial training. Then we got to shoot. Nothing like free ammo. It was fun and tough. Just don’t give up. Get yourselves in shape no matter what you do or how old you are. Stop eating at BK, etc. Visit a nursing home and ask yourselves if you want to be old, fat and in a wheel chair. Don’t drink and Don’t smoke. Both of these kill many more people than covid. Smoking kills almost 500,000 a year and have done so for years. Stop eating carbs/sugar.... junk food. Pizza and pasta should not be in your diet. Sleep... get your sleep so your mind works. GET YOUR SLEEP. Exercise. Exercise. Exercise The right way. You forgot.... Can you sleep with a helmet as a pillow? 20yr veteran.

Today's my 40th birthday. I want to serve my country. I'd love to join the army but I'll take what I can get. I'm still in good shape. Can anyone give me some direction?

39 is the maximum age for the Air Force. You'd need to be younger than that to join the other services. You can still serve as a federal employee.

I can't suggest a job title. I do believe federal employees serve the public. Assess your skill set, then see how you'd fit into the system. I wish you well.

So I had a scheduled meeting with an Air Force recruiter today at 4. I got there 30 minutes early since I'm a punctual person. Well he wasn't there. I waited in the office for 2 hours for him to show and he never did. He never even called, answered his phone, or texted me.... And I drove an hour to get to his office. So an Army recruiter pulled me into the back to chat with him because he realized I was there a little bit after 3 and still there after 5pm. And we talked for over an hour about the possibilities of the army and I don't have anything against it I just need to lose about 10 pounds for them. And I've been dieting only eating protein and veggies and running for hours and only drinking water and I still can't lose weight... Do you have any tips for that? I've always wanted to join the Air Force but this is the second time I've had one of their recruiters screw me over. And the Army recruiter was pretty awesome and told me that I was guaranteed whatever job I want with them. Since I don't have to sign my contract until after I'm told what job I got and if I don't want it then I don't have to sign. And he was telling me since I still want to go to school to be a surgeon I could choose trama surgery and the Army would train me in that and pay for my college for it which sounds amazing.

Just make sure u research and verify with other youtubers and active duty army to make sure it's not a load of b.s. as far as losing weight, give your self maybe a day or two of maintenance calories or just have a cheat meal to reset your metabolism l then go back to your diet. Also look into keto which is great for fat loss.

I think the point is not to be in shape, some people are smart and good shape at 60 years old but you can’t enroll because this is not the limit age. Also, the oldest dude is much more visible, he must listen much more and work alone or lead above because he is different. Also, some old people don’t need money, they don’t work. Why do they always talk about problems without any dreamland?

Raymond Isiah one more question.... I have a scar on the shin( right leg) does it mean anything?and in education I have a first degree from my home country Ghana, would that put me in any level? Thanks

  • @RaymondIsiah

    @RaymondIsiah

I wouldn't worry about the scar just dont bring attention to it. And it depends on what your degree is in and what context. Talk to s recruiter about it and make sure you have all documents concerning said degree

I want to join the Air Force. I'm 29 and a single mom. I just graduated college a couple weeks ago. I got my 48 credits and i'm a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. I can enlist as a E3 with my college credits. Before I talk to a recruiter I want to study the Asvab first.

Congratulations on getting your degree! That's a great place to start. I would watch this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5iI2bCHfbPInps.html then definitely go meet with a recruiter and possibly take a practice test so u can atleast know where to focus your studying efforts.

You definitely want to study. Even if it is basic knowledge. Everyone learns differently and retains information at different rates... this isn't a trivia game. It's a method of unlocking jobs. Any amount of preparation is beneficial. One person not preparing because they are "intelligent " doesn't mean that no one needs to study. Your successes and failures are directly linked to who u have chosen to believe 😉
