Definitely WorseHelp. They often lack the resource, experience and expertise to handle anything like an actual disorder, they also cannot diagnose or prescribe medication, they cannot give referrals for specialists either. That means you're basically just talking to a counselor that the government can probably provide to you for free, who is local and knows what's available to you. At most they can combat loneliness and mild grief, or similar. And even so, there's been so many horror stories from clients and therapists alike, that it vastly outweighs the good. Please seek a referral from a doctor instead. They do NOT have your best interest in mind.

This and similar stuff is also used to store liquid nitrogen to make cryogenic transport containers that pose no danger when tipping over, wgich is a must for, for example, transport by air. A colleague of mine in our research group is researching it's absorption and evaporation behaviour with LN2 for his PhD, incorporation with Air Liquide.

You can also use these kinds of materials to make vibration free pumps, but using the gas absorption dependence on temperature. Research on this is also done in our group, in the context of vibration free cryogenic cooling, in projects with ESA and soon in the Einstein Telescope Pathfinder.

An interesting experiment would be to put a miniature remote control drone or helicopter in the vacuum chamber and see how long it will last at full throttle before the battery runs out, then compare that to how long it takes for the battery to run out at full throttle when you’re holding it on a table outside the vacuum chamber. Obviously it won’t fly inside the vacuum but it would be cool to see if the lack of aerodynamic resistance on the propellers would have any effect on how hard the drone has to work.

you didn't need to spill when you invert the liquid container. just use a piece of paper or foil and remove once inverted.

Lmao, so you can flip bottle without spilling by using rotational momentum more when you flip them. Lmao the fero fluid clip was hilarious 😂

I wonder what the material properties of magnesium carbonate chalk would be like if you filled it with resin instead of water in a vaccuum. I'm sure there would be a thinner layer because of the viscosity, but it might be useful. Maybe for carving.

Interesting idea. What if you fully infused it with liquid resin in vacuum as in the last example, then quickly mixed it with unchalked resin. Could you get a cool swirl visual, or maybe a really interesting texture once it cured?

They sell blocks of these at home hardware in Canada, advertised as a fire starter that never goes away It can sit in a multi thousand degree bonfire after being used to start it, and then next day while shoveling out all the ashes, you run into this inexplicably cube shaped structure in the ash Since it soaks alcohol and oils, that means it can serve as a wick for them and burn with them, with alcohol I had a small block burn for like 20 minutes straight, recovered it next day Pretty cool stuff, always wondered what they were and this must be it

The capacity for sucking up oil makes me think this would be very useful in dealing with spillages

I've always wondered what happens if you heat one side of a stick of chalk or some other water absorbing substance. If the whole thing wants to absorb water, but one side is hot and trying to evaporate, will the water wick from the cold to the hot side and evaporate, like a "diode for water"? If not, what about if you use a deliquescent?
