In this video I show you what a movement through a fourth spatial dimension would look like in our 3D World. I show you what crazy stuff would happen if a 4th dimensional being were to move 4D objects through our 3D space. Weird things happen like the sudden appearing of objects, shape changing, sudden mirror imaging and more! This video is helpful to understanding a 4th spatial dimension using the simplest object...a sphere. This is easier than a tesseract to understand because it looks the same from all directions.

To exist in that dimension would mean the absence of a need for mathematics to calculate what you'd have a full grasp and vision of already. Math is one of our many training wheels, so to speak... We eventually COULD advance to a level where the balance is automatic and the training wheels are long forgotten.

  • @Digitalsapien

It's a flawed theory. The "mirror" effect doesn't exist - it is an illusion. The problem is that while the model using 2d figures on a piece of paper, it is just a model. And ultimately, it is a 3D model. The paper is 3d. The stick man is 3d. The shape that was cut out and flipped is 3d. If you want to really debunk this bad thought experiment to see what I mean, then attempt to flip the shape you drew on the paper, not the cutout paper version you dropped on the paper from a higher dimension that never existed in 2d at all. Even if you assume for the sake of argument the cut-out shape is 2 dimensional, the thought experiment fails, as the 2d paper shape exists on a parallel but separate plane from the drawing. In other words, there would have been no reflection to begin with, as the cut-out shape would NOT have existed on the same 2d plane as the mirror to ever be reflected.

Likewise, 4-dimensional entities do not exist. It starts with lying and manipulation and has to end with lying and manipulation. Let me help you understand this - cut yourself a slice of, for example, a cucumber with ZERO thickness. I wish you to enjoy it! Do you understand now? Lines and points have no thickness - they don't exist! This phenomenon of reality is that there is nothing that does not have 3 dimensions. I've also heard a theory that if time is to be considered our 4th dimension (and I know that's a space of argument for a lot of people), and there were somehow 4D time organisms interacting with us that we wouldn't look like humans but more like insanely long worm creatures with baby bodies on one end and elderly bodies on the other end connected by "human worm" lol I imagine that would look quite interesting if a 4D creature viewed it especially since we're rotating around the earth so there would be this long stringy web of humans and everywhere they've been and everything they've interacted with and what we're seeing as 3D being is a slice of that which we know as "right now" It might be a silly theory but it was a fun thought experiment and its given me some new perspective on life in a few ways - what do I want my worm to look like if viewed from that perspective?

You're trying to convert a temporal dimension into a spatial one. I used to do that, but then you can't answer how the 4d beings exist. Like Time is to 3d space creatures then and if you consider time as 4th space then what is to 4d space creatures. The majority of physists consider our universe to be 3 spatial dimensions and 1 temporal. The quest is to find a new spatial dimension instead of morphing temporal one into a spatial one for our convenience.

me too, its a axis that can't exist. point space itself in which all "dimensions" would exist only has 3 axis... they try to tell me i am stupid because i cannot imagine the axis and explain why on 2 axis, notice they never explain 1 axis or 1d? Its not that we can't imagine it, it just doesn't exist as a physical tangible thing like 4d doesn't exist. Point space is point space no matter how you measure it. Which goes back to arguments i had before, math can explain things that aren't even possible because math is an invention or tool of understanding, so anything can be explained in math even if it isn't real.

we couldnt possibly deduce that a small circle becoming larger than small again is definitely a 4d ball. It could be any number of things and it really depends on how the 4d person has presented the object to us. Same as a 2d person seeing a dot, then a line becoming longer and then back to a dot doesn't necessarily have to be a 3d ball passing through a 2d plane. It could be any number of things in the 3d world. we can conclude that 2d world cannot really imagine what a 3d world will look like. We cannot imagine what a 4d world really looks like. We trick ourselves into doing so by making a whole lot of assumptions about the extra dimension.

I have to ponder this... because in reality, the large ball is still only a 3 dimensional object. The 4th dimension is a theoretical construct based on the extrapolation from 2-D to 3-D and the assumption to 4-D, that it would evoke a perspective shift, and that such alone is sufficient to declare a 4th dimension, which in years past, was considered to be time. The 3 dimensions are entirely directional and those directions are spatial. Since the three dimensions account for all the physical space around us, to postulate the existence of a fourth dimension would be a radical departure from the material world and all that it contains spatially and directionally. One could argue that cyberspace is another dimension.

They are taking advantage of us, but the 5D beings are taking advantage of the 4D beings and the lost stuff that we lost are all going to the 11 Dimensional beings and they have everything! But, unfortunately, we will never be able to reach them, not in a finite amount of time! So, if it's lost, it's lost forever! A 4 dimensional being can see the entirety of a 3d object at once. A gateway for us to see a 3d object fully is to use mirrors to see the other side of the object in order to see it all at once. You aren't looking for a mirrored image, you are just using a mirror to see the other side you normally wouldn't be able to see. Without the use of a mirror, you would need time to move around the object, or turn the object to see the other side. The 4th dimension eliminates the need for time.

Another cool thing that I thought of. A 2d person couldn't see a circle all at once, they'd have to go around it to see the rest of it, but we can see all of it. But a ball, we can't see the whole thing at once, we'd have to go around it. But it would make sense that a fourth dimensional person could see an entire sphere all at once.

The fun thing about a 4th dimentanal being is it can't be biological in any way we have ever imagined. It can't even use electronic pulses and chemical reactions to think like we do. That would all be to slow. The real crazy part is it would likely not just see all the outside of you. It would see all the inside of you. Something doesn't compute with my expectation. When we in 3D look at a sphere going through 2D, from our perspective, we see a sphere in our 3D and a circle in the 2D plane, but in the 2D perspective they see just a line. If we translate that, wouldn't it mean that in 4D, they would see whatever a 4D version of a sphere is and a sphere in our 3D space, but in our 3D perspective we would see just a circle? That makes logical sense to me.

He is talking nonsense. There are no 2 dimensional entities. A line or a point cannot be seen. They do not exist. They are just mathematical/philosophical entities. Sorry, but this is a fact that you will confirm to yourself in the kitchen by cutting slices of zero thickness.

It can be measured in many ways but its still just point space and 3 axis is enough to explain it... the only way i could consider it having a 4th dimension would be if consciousness was a separate form of energy acting upon the point space. So basically we are 4d beings and if we want to get technical, we can also measure the human experience in emotional and physical senses. So technically we could be considered 6d beings versus a 3d sphere. Math is only as good as the person using it for explanations, because that's all it does is provide an explanation. Since that is all it does, it can "prove" things that will never have existed or will, because because its not being used with the constraints or laws of the point space(universe). 😉

The mirroring thing got me... Haven't had thought about that earlier when I was watching Sagan talking about Flatland. Cool and simple presentation, thanks. Yet, instead of envisioning a bag of pretzels ;) I immediately thought about a sphere with its surface flipped inwards, "a wormhole", so to speak, instead of physical 3D collection of all the points within the same distance (radius) from the sphere's center. I guess it makes sense that 4D beings would be able to place some "inverted spheres" in 3D that would be accessible for 3D senses even, yet in plain sight they would be invisible to us -- because we're used to look -outwards- in 3D and for outward cast sight, the sphere's mass center would be just an infinitely small point. The only way to see its surface in its entirety with our 3D senses would be to somehow "look through" this point from each possible angle, onto the same depth, all at once. I'd have to put some more thought into how it could be done physically by turning our senses -inwards- -- yet, the logic seems fine to me.

Do a video on the hypothesis that there is a second time dimension perpendicular to the arrow of time we know. Actually, it need not be time, or called time, maybe it is a dimension of possibilities, of possible pasts and futures. 2D time-time (not spatial) with 3D space makes an interesting 5D universe.

4th dimension seems like it could be how we understand fractals, or maybe a perspective illusion of the object changing size (when the ball was getting bigger it also looked like the viewer is getting closer to it)

I'm more interested in the concept of more time dimensions. We're 1D limited wrt time -- i feel like we might be able to comprehend 2D time if given a hint as to where (when?) to look..

Higher dimensional beings would see all of duration (time relative to you) at once. In our 3d world we can observe space-time in that when we look at different stars, we look at other times all at once!
