A turkey hen and her babies

My turkey hens love to hide their nests and come out later with a clutch of babies.

There is just something about babies of any species that just seems to touch my heart strings. You can learn so much watching a mom interact with her babies. We once watched a mother mallard bring 12 baby ducklings from her nest that must have been a full quarter of a mile from our lake, through the woods and then several lawns on the way to the lake. All of the way to the lake, the babies followed in an orderly single file as we watched over them, making sure that the neighbor's feral cats did not get any of them. Then, to our amazement, as soon as they hit the water, the mom clucked at them and they made a huge round ball. We have large bass, walleyes, muskies, and northern pike in our lake and we can only assume that the mom was making it look like the babies were one big thing, rather than lots of little individual snacks for our large predatory fish and turtles. It was amazing to see and I feel very blessed that God gave me the opportunity to witness that. I know that it was a once in a lifetime experience. !!!!

Pretty turkey, she dont looked like the big giant domesticated one. I seen only nature show on slender looking flying one in the woods. Interesting sound she makes. Great videos.

Like to see where the momma is allowed to be the momma. :D
