Black soldier fly laying eggs close up
I really liked getting this video. I can actually see the fly placing the eggs in the cluster. And look at all the clusters there are. When I was done video taping I weighed the block to see how many eggs were in it.

So wicked cool! Thanks for posting it!
What State are you in? I’m in northern Florida and could certainly use a bin of BSF larvae. What would this cost me?
Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Good Video!
Okay so this is how I found your video. LOL I get in my car and I'm going down the road and I noticed something fairly big and black in the corner of the windshield where it meets the soft part of the car and I pull out the flashlight and I can't really tell what it is. So I got the Google snapshot thing where you can take a picture of something and it will pull up all results based on the picture and it pulled at black soldier fly but there was this white stuff under it and I was like, what the hell is that? So finally after thinking that it was something coming out of its body, I looked it up on KZread and I saw your video and the thing was laying eggs in my car. I had my windows down the night before last because the power had gone out and I went up to the neighbors and just shut the door and I didn't roll the windows up and I think that's when it went in there but it got pretty hot yesterday but then today it wasn't too bad so there was definitely not as much as you have here. This one is laying way more but it was definitely eggs because I had to get a Clorox wipe to get it out and then I saw her that stuff smeared and it look like these tiny little slivers. Oh it was so gross. I can appreciate the process but not in my car LOL

So cool to watch
Amazing
That’s amazing capture and I have no luck yet with this fly I have trap them with compost bin and cardboard they did came but the larvae disappeared now wish they come back again!
I never use cardboard they just lay in the dirt! But I seen a few people do it this way
Awesome! Could you explain the setup as far as the hardware cloth platform, the bedding, and the active larvae beneath? Thanks!

The platform is to keep the eggs block from falling into the larvae. The smell from the larvae and food encourage the flies to lay the eggs above them.

@@NWRedwormsthis has helped me a ton, just recently caught a BSF thinking it would just lay eggs if it had somewhere to lay them. Didn’t even think about whether or not they needed to mate and have the motivation, ie the food underneath, to want to lay their eggs in the Panera coffee coozies I glued together. Will have to add those missing links and hope for the best! Thanks for this content
