Vasco da gama's son was even killed in somalia, and the remaining injured Portuguese army fled to socotra island. We still celebrate that victory. That is why Portuguese never had a colony and never took slaves from East Africa cuz of the defeat from Somalia

The Cold war partly ruined Somalia. At the start Somalia was aligned with the Soviet union and the Ethiopians with the Americans. Somalia conquered The Somali region in Ethiopia, but while that was happening the Ethiopians had a civil war, where the victors of that civil war decided to also align themselves with the Soviets. So the Soviets had a problem, because two of their allies where at war. They told Siad Barre(the then president of Somalia) to retreat and return the Somali region, he refused and aligned himself with the American. The Soviets airlifted a Billions worth of supplies+1,500 advisors and 12,000 Cubans for the Ethiopians, The Americans did next to nothing compared to that for the Somali’s.

All I hear is Ethiopian evasion followed by British and Italian colonialism. Separately, greed, tribalism, and dictatorship ruined the country. Somalia has both good and bad history just like many other countries, though no one seems to mention this. I wish peace and wellness for the innocent Somali civilians.

Somalia conquered the Ethiopian capital in 1977 but Ethiopia cried for help from Russia, cuba,yemen,usa, Soviet union etc. somalia had to withdraw its army but we still managed to kill more than 7000 cubans😂

Somalia already captured the Somali territory in Ethiopia easily but the greed to capture more eventually destroyed them after Ethiopia begged for help. Losing that war is the reason why the whole country is a disaster today

2018 was the last pirate attack 6 years ago they exist, but almost every single one has fled due to ships being more fortified and harder to hijack. Most are now people who just live in the rural or city areas with no work or home.
